  1. I'm sure this was brought up internally and Wilks told them to pound sand. I like Wilks as a guy and as an assistant coach but I don't think he would have been a success as a HC especially under a noob like Tepper. The Panthers needed some outside perspective and an NFL veteran to teach David Tepper how to win in the NFL. Frank Reich has been in the NFL in some capacity as a player or coach for almost 40 years. Tepper was still buying bad bonds for Goldman Sachs when Reich was playing in the NFL.
  2. Too late to sell Burns I'd assume, that ship sailed. One of the big reasons I think Fitterer messed up and should be replaced. Two 1st and a high 2nd, huge price to pay for a tweener pass rusher
  3. Whoa now there's someone I didn't think would be working for the Panthers again but I guess anything is possible now!!!
  4. Wilks was just a grown ass man compared to Matt Rhule and the players responded to him. No one respected Rhule and he shouldn’t have ever been hired. He should have been fired after 2021. We could have had Brian Daboll for Christ sake. But in the end Wilks was brought in to establish some kind of legitimacy on an amateur staff so it wasn’t hard to raise the bar from one of the worst teams in the NFL under Rhule to a mediocre team under Wilks. But when the games started to matter at the end of the year, Wilks’s defense started to look worse, he made critical in game mistakes, and overall I don’t think he had what it took to take the team to the next level based on the decisions he made while interim head coach.
  5. Wish nothing but the best for Wilks and I’m sure he’s super bummed he didn’t get the job. He will now probably go to the Falcons and try to stick it to the Panthers twice a year for passing on him.
  6. What’s ridiculous to me is they let Rasul Douglas and Eli Apple leave, Douglas had some early success on the Panthers, and both ended up solid players on playoff teams the very next season! That’s not on Fitterer exactly but he was the GM when it came time to retain at least Douglas.
  7. It is true. Nice to have a HC with real NFL connections to build a staff. Matt Rhule was such a massive failure of a hire, maybe one of the worst in NFL history.
  8. Vic Fangio still up for consideration as DC? ‘95 Panthers connection!
  9. Post the potential Reich connections here. Wonder if Gus Bradley is the next DC. I don’t love that. Who will the OC be? QB coach? Reich’s 2022 Colts staff was super underwhelming.
  10. Suddenly they’re ready to keep pounding lol
  11. Looks like Reich was on a plane to be the next OC of the Chargers if the Panthers went another direction. He got the job and his family stays home
  12. I wonder how much Ben McAdoo played into the interview because Moore and him worked together in Dallas in 2021
  13. Could be worse. I don’t hate it. He’s qualified.
  14. Damn I wonder if my guy’s source was about OC or DC candidates
  15. I think you should be careful about what the media is pumping and about red herrings because I think the Panthers have finally figured out how to conduct some smokescreens. I still think Wilks or Reich could be the coach but I don’t think they’re done interviewing either
  16. Interesting write up on offensive coordinators and their schemes. Dorsey was unexpectedly high. https://jetsxfactor.com/2023/01/24/ny-jets-oc-mike-lafleur-areas-control/ Tepper is a well known metrics and analytics guy.
  17. I don’t think they are considering Payton anymore. The comp to the saints is too big a pill for most teams to swallow let alone a division rival. I think the interview was more feeling out and conversation than an actual interview
  18. Aside from Shanahan’s teams, the trend is good QBs
  19. I think it’s Dorsey because of the team connection but he told me it could be either.
  20. Same source that told me Matt Ryan was furious at the falcons before the Watson speculation and was demanding a trade long before it was reported. And the one that told me Michael Oher has permanent brain damage. But like I said he’s not always right
  21. A little birdie told me that they’re gonna interview either Kafka or Dorsey again but I can’t verify that
  22. Ben McAdoo worked with Kellen Moore in 2021 just saying
  23. No idea. All I got was interviews are probably not over.
  24. From everything I’ve read publicly, it’s Reich. From what I heard from my sometimes inside team source (and yes I really have one but it’s not as plugged in as it used to be) this might not be over today and there’s another dark horse interviewing.
  25. Ryans played for Houston so it makes sense. Denver’s players fit his scheme and I could see him being a fit there too. Nothing insidious. Needs to be a fit for both parties. Something Tepper is hopefully learning.
