Honestly I think the 2020 Panthers with Teddy Bridgewater would kick the crap out of the 2021 team. At least that offense could move the ball a little. The 2020 team didn’t have a historically bad offensive line either. The defense wasn’t great but the 2021 team has no ability to challenge that bad defense. Hell I think the pre-Rivera getting fired 2019 team with Kyle Allen would skull f*ck all of the Matt Rhule squads. Man this team sucks.

I think they’ll have to move on. This team is a mess. There’s some good candidates out there. Nathaniel Hackett Matt Eberflus Brian Daboll Bryon Leftwich Kellen Moore (with a highly experienced veteran DC) Guys I would get excited about. I like Eberflus the best, but Hackett might be the best to develop a QB.

My interest in this team is at an all time low
hepcat replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Your feelings are shared amongst all the fans. It is why the Panthers signed Cam. It took a lot of swallowing of pride to do that. The fanbase was just done with this garbage. But they rushed Cam into the fold and he isn’t the QB he used to be. I think there could be hope with a new coaching staff. Hiring a coach like Matt Eberflus and seeing what he could do with all the talent on this defense could be very interesting. The offense needs a QB and the off-season should be dedicated to that search. They’re stuck with Darnold who will need to be cut and that dead money eaten, but could maybe be re-signed for a more reasonable rate and used as a backup or veteran competition for a rookie or other veteran QB. PJ is a solid third string QB. I just vomit at the thought this team could be developing Justin Fields or Mac Jones right now. But knowing this coaching staff they would have ruined whoever they drafted. Let’s just hope Rhule and co are let go and an NFL caliber staff is brought in. I have faith in Fitterer and Dan Morgan and hope they get a chance to build a team under a new hand picked coaching staff. Usually the GM selects the head coach, not the other way around. -
What will you do with your Sundays?

Red Zone makes all the bad seasons tolerable. Just get to see a few moments of the train wreck this team has become. I had it on red zone all day on Sunday. Why bother watching this garbage team? It’s not good football and it’s not fun. Watching other teams is way more fun right now. -

Beautiful time of year to play golf here in Texas. I’ll get in a few rounds. Spend time with my wife. Practice my guitar. Go out to brunch. Read up for a new cert I’m trying to get at work -
Matt Rhule: "We have to double down on our approach"
hepcat replied to ENCPantherfan2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rhule knows he’s getting fired or he’s already got another job lined up. He doesn’t give a sh*t anymore -
I agree. They seem in over their heads. At times in 2011 and 2012, Rivera’s teams didn’t look great either. Ron made tons of rookie coach mistakes including calling a timeout to let the Saints kick a FG before halftime once. But they tended to be in almost every game and blew it at the end. Those teams showed a lot more progress than Rhule’s squads. And we obviously had a franchise QB still learning the ropes. With no franchise QB tying a coach here it would be easier to move on from Rhule than it would from Rivera in 2012 IMO.

Cam Newton should be done as a starting QB in this league

I'm surprised we haven't seen PJ more in the past two weeks honestly. Cam can still obviously play a part in the offense, especially in the red zone. But I just can't see how he's a full time starting option after less than 3 weeks on the roster. If they bring him back next season and he has a full offseason in whatever offensive coordinator's system they have, I'm sure he'd look better. I feel like they ran the same 3-4 formations and ran the same plays over and over because he only knows like 20% of the playbook at this point. -
I’m sure if you polled the fanbase Week 13 in 2012 it would have said the same thing about Rivera. Rhule still has 5 games to turn it around. I don’t expect them to win another game. But if they run the table and finish 10-7 I’m on board with keeping him.

So does PJ start next week? Does anyone even care?

That discussion should have been had in Spring 2020 -
Matt Rhule 3rd year success (Does history repeat itself?)

I agree I feel like if they drafted Jones he would have looked like a moron here. -
We are seeing the end of Cam's career

I have been hoping for a team to move to Central Texas since the Raiders talked about moving to San Antonio -

Don’t get to beat up on Liberty university for a win in the NFL. -
What exactly did Matt Rhule excel at in college?
hepcat replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t really have a good answer to this. “Team building” was what we were sold on. -
He has to or else the fanbase will abandon the team. We already showed our influence with Cam being brought back, a move many thought would never happen

Do you remember the Giants or Patriots game?

How does a team just keep getting worse and worse?
hepcat replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
He might not have the capability to be a good NFL head coach and just doesn’t give a sh*t. Probably has college teams inquiring about his availability already -
He hired Matt Rhule after lobbying for Tomlin to be fired. I guess you’re saying he might have learned more since the Rhule failure?
-
Well we knew that after the Giants game. This team has lost to the entire NFC East and the freaking Dolphins. We suck.

I love Cam. I think he deserves this chance to come back and right the wrong of him being cut too soon by a franchise that didn’t appreciate him. But he got signed less than 3 weeks ago. The fact is he might just not be comfortable enough in this offense to be starting the full games. PJ looked good when he had a gameplan and weeks worth of prep to start a game. I thought we’d see more of PJ after signing Cam and utilizing both of their strengths. Who really expects PJ to look good coming in at the end of a lost game when everyone on the team has given up? But honestly neither of these QBs are going to take this team to the playoffs or maybe even win another game with all the other issues on this team. At least we got to see Cam in a Panthers uniform again, and that is the best part of this miserable season. -
My message to him is fire the current staff and let the NFL professionals he has hired in Scott Fitterer and Dan Morgan fix this mess.
