A game manager who will sling the ball down field with managed aggression if you allow him to (and many times, even when you don't).
-
Yeah, I want a combination! And I want someone who not only can chuck it deep, but who also times his throws well enough to hit the small windows in such a way that maximizes the receivers ability to gain the most yardage. Teddy is too scared to even do that.

Let's get our franchise LT!

Well, a 4th is better than nothing. I think they'd be giving him an opportunity to move on, and they could move on as well without distraction. I'm speculating, and trying to see things from his perspective, so take this with a grain of salt: At this point, Minshew isn't an aging vet resolved with his fate as a backup. He still has his prime to look forward to. I could be wrong, but I don't think he's necessarily going to hand Lawrence the keys with a smile so to speak. He transferred from ECU to Washington State because he had a good shot to actually play, so he's not necessarily of the mindset to just hold a clipboard until he's gotten his fair shake. Sure, ultimately the Jags could hold him there, but that would be pretty low IMO, and may cause a little bit of frustration on his part, which could mushroom into something else.

People keep thinking that the Jags aren't trading Minshew, but they need and want draft capital. It really only makes sense that the only reason that they would trade for C.J. Beathard on a two-year, 5 million dollar deal is if they were planning to trade Minshew (who would actually be cheaper). I'm pretty sure they are done with Minshew.

Next years Salary Cap? Absolutely insane?

My late mother-in-law used to say, "What you don't see makes a whole 'nother world." -
It was thinking, but it was more wishful thinking than anything else! Terrible contract!

What was the boldest move this franchise has made?

I know what it will be if the towel boy on the gulf coast can put his legal issues behind him. -
We're they "easy"?

Hey, it's true! If we can get even even 4th or 5th WR reps out of this guy, or anything good on ST, then it's a slick move. If we never get anything out of the kid, at least we know that Fitt and Rhule are actually doing what they're saying in regards to searching down every avenue, and, perhaps more importantly, thinking outside the damned box! I appreciate that.

Tell that to all the Americans who had the choice of voting between two old farts who were both accused of sexual deviance! I think BOTH were guilty of that (and probably more inside or outside of a sexual nature). The bar of criminality is obviously the litmus test. We don't exist in a fantasy world!

Honestly, I wouldn't care about a suspension unless it was like two years or something. It's just something that naturally decreases the cost for his services. Now, a ban... that's entirely different! Any deal I'd make would be contingent upon him playing in 2022. I know some people don't want to hear it, but he may be one helluva bargain once this is behind him. I don't see how the Texans could ask for the farm at this point, and he better feel lucky if he still has a job.

I'll just add "perceived" talent aspect. Part of that equation should be decision making and ball security. Minshew may even the score a little bit on that front. Darnold has been a bit of a turnover machine! That's his biggest red flag for me! Minshew was his rookie season, but he cut turnovers considerably in 2020.
-
Well looks like I'm in line with some GM's thinking on Darnold's value. I'm thinking Minshew's less. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2938677-sam-darnold-trade-rumors-multiple-gms-reveal-their-market-value-for-jets-qb

Let me guess; you hate the moves and expect more misery in 2021?
-
If I can get Minshew for a couple of more years for a 4th or later, I'm getting him. You're only talking 2 mil per year! He's an upgrade to somebody!
-
Are you kidding? Minshew has an arm and doesn't play scared!

To Sign or not to Sign - Bridgewater vs Draft. DRAFT
top dawg replied to CPcavedweller's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well to be fair, they gave up a lot, probably too much, but they are at a different point on the development spectrum than we are. We're rebuilding. They're trying to win a Super Bowl right now. In some sense, one could argue that it makes sense for them to bet the farm that a rookie QB might be able to do what Garropolo failed to do. I wouldn't have done it, and I certainly wouldn't have done it if I were in the Panthers' position. It's too risky! Frisco had better be right! -
49ers just traded to possibly get....Mac Jones
top dawg replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hey, you could be right, but Steve Young, presumably close to the 49ers, says Wilson or Fields! The Wilson part of the equation is assuming that he'll be gone at two. But if not, who knows? Stranger things have happened, but it doesn't seem like they'd have moved up to three if they really thought Wilson would be gone and wanted Jones. I mean, they'd have to really like Jones to give up that much, knowing that Wilson would likely be gone. -

From what I've read, mostly because @saX mangave us the heads-up, they are angling for Fields anyway. Steve Young believes they're OK with Wilson or Fields and that's why they moved to three. -
Sax's Panthers Plan (or reality?): Trey Lance | QB | NDSU

Zach Wilson, confirmed it? -

Sounds reasonable, but if someone decides to throw some bones the Falcons' way, we just may be screwed on the Lance math. -

Jones deserves a chance! He's just not what I would personally be looking for to be competitive in today's NFL. Moreover, I think you're projecting on the belief that he has Brady or Peyton-esque type of football processing up there in his dome. I'm going to have to see him do that as a pro before I believe it. To me, that would be something special and perhaps an advantage if he's truly on that level. But, today, I just see him as a a guy with a pretty decent floor, but a limited ceiling due to his lack of athleticism and ability to play off script.
