Come on Huddle... last year's squad WAS hot garbage. It was. And just because a 13 years vet with multiple pro bowls under his belt had a good game (even though he got the crap beat out of him), doesn't mean that a rookie should have. JTs analysis weren't far off last season. A little biased, but not egregious. Andy's seen everything there is to see in the NFL. Everything. You're not gonna fool him with presnap looks. But if we're being honest, he's had the least number reps in this offense from all the QBs on the roster during training camp. Even the 4th guy that came in. I think he'll only get better as he gets more comfortable with what everyone is doing.

What does “game manager” truly mean?
Navy_football replied to Gapanthersfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There are levels of game manager. But yes, a game manager gets the ball to his playmakers (point guard). I don't think it's a negative at all. That's what the position calls for. Some can do it at a high level - Brady, Brees, Marino, etc. Then you have playmakers that extend plays or even run to create something out of nothing. We had one of the best ever, and decided to surround him with JAGs at receiver and a bad oline because he was so dynamic. I guess it's a blessing and a curse. -
Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' Week 3 win

Trevin Wallace played OLB in the game. Not sure that's gonna work out. Honestly would rather try Shaq outside and move Trevin inside. -
Bryce doesn't have the tools to propel a squad like last season. But this team is completely different. Actually see more new names than old ones. Bryce's regression has been 100% mental. Unfortunately that was supposedly his calling card - being smart and mentally strong.
-
Yep. I think they ruined Bryce's confidence. But you can't carry that ish into the next season. Gotta be mentally tougher than that. Andy made maybe 1 pass that Bryce can't make. But he made a dozen throws that Bryce just wouldn't take (attempt).

I think Canales just earned himself a friggin bonus. Tepper has to feel vindicated in some way. Canales has some brownie points after this win. Now Morgan is gonna have to figure out how to extend Johnson before the end of the season. Can't let him walk after yesterday. Dude looked like a building piece. A core player even. -
Yeah, I watched the ALL-22 games last year and the offense was absolute trash. The schemes were slow and predictable, the oline was just waiting to get someone hurt, and the receivers were inconsistent. That wasn't fair to Bryce. And there's no way Andy would have been able to last the season. He took some vicious hits at Seattle. This season though... You could see from the Saints game that guys were open often. Guys weren't dropping passes. And most importantly the oline was legit. Bryce didn't take advantage of the improvements. I did feel like Canales and Evero were severely outcoached in that game, but opportunities were there. But the Chargers game... The Panthers were the better team IMHO, but Bryce looked shell shocked. He did everything wrong. He looked like he didn't belong. He was getting worse. He had to be pulled.

I love Chuba but he isn't a homerun hitter. He's a reliable bell cow back. If Brooks has the same juice he had in college, he's gonna feast behind this oline. Big runs are there to be had. -

Hopefully Bryce is eating this up. He needs to sit and learn now. This is a great opportunity for him. He should be taking advantage of it! -

This is a really good oline! -
This team is built to run the ball. 5 road graders on the oline and a straight ahead running back in Chuba. Can't wait til Brooks is inserted.
-
Maybe Evero would have. They probably should have tried to transition Luvu though. Rhule's staff definitely wouldn't have.
-
Right, but would the Panthers have allowed him to become a pass rushing, hand in the dirt LB?
-
I guess no one saw Navy beat Memphis. No respect.

What could they realistically get for Bryce??

I think they gave up 2 sacks against the Chargers with Mack and Bosa! And both of those were 100% on the QB. -

You're right. He needs to play, but right now he needs to take a step back and find his game. Bro is shell shocked and just playing horrible football. Or maybe he's pressing. Maybe he's trying too hard to get the ball to certain receivers- Johnson, when other guys are wide open. It was just weird- even for him. Marching him out there every Sunday like this ain't helping at all. -

He got worse even though everything got better around him. Not saying the situation is perfect now by any means, but it's better. A lot closer to NFL average. Actually, I would say the pass pro has been above league average. -

Yeah, but dude has regressed in 2 games this season. These are throws he's made before - in the NFL. These are reads he's made before - in the NFL. Something ain't right with him. And it isn't physical. It's mental. He has much better protection, much better receivers and a much better scheme. He should be playing better. But then again, do you want a mentally weak guy on your team - at QB? Maybe I've convinced myself... -

Personally don't think it's a good idea to trade the #1 pick in the draft after 18 games. That's too early to completely give up on him.
