  1. It's not about revenue. And you're right, he's likely going to settle and get a slap on the wrist. But as an organization, you can't look past all of this and say success makes it ok. The damage you will do inside of the organization will be catastrophic. How many women will be willing to come work here knowing that's the stance of ownership? How many women involved in the team will be willing to stay? How many wives of free agent players will want to come to Carolina knowing that the only thing a player does that matters is on the field? Times have changed. We can't scream for equality and treat others as irrelevant just because of their gender. And if it does turn out to be true, could you be in that locker room with him knowing he did that to someone's mother, daughter, sister, wife. What if it was your sister? There's a lot of problems just waiting to be had in all of this right now.
  2. Gonna start off strong... get some pie... feel good about myself... get a cramp... get some poo about poor performance... mumble about missed opportunities...why am I crying... what are we talking about again?
  3. Winning may cure it for some men, it doesn't necessarily for women. If we were talking about 1, maybe 2 incidents, then yeah, it might be able to be brushed aside. We're talking 22 different women making allegations. If it does turn out to be true and Watson is putting on a Panthers uniform, I won't be watching. I don't care if he wins.
  4. Not interested. They want big compensation and no indication when or if Watson plays again. Plus the negative message it sends to the community that it's ok to violate women, allegedly, as long as you can throw a ball, that's going to be a PR nightmare.
  5. Probably trying to wait as long as possible to get it right, or as right as the NFL does. Suspending him a season would be considered a slap on the wrist depending on what he admits.
  6. Look at how Gase used Leveon Bell. Bell was at one time a prolific receiver out of the backfield and Gase turned him into a between the tackles power back. He didn't know how to use players and it was painfully obvious. I would rather have Mike Shula leading my offense than Adam Gase. I don't know if Darnold will be any good or if he will suck. But I can't think of a worse situation for any QB to come into as a rookie.
  7. I wasn't a fan of the Erving deal for much the same reason.
  8. It kind of is though. That's a roster spot for a guy who has been injured a lot and when he had played, he hasn't been more than average. I'd rather use that roster spot for a guy with more upside than KK right now.
  9. I appreciate the effort you put in. No one knows exactly what's going to happen until draft day and there's a lot more misinformation being thrown around than truth I would imagine. Much appreciation for your contributions.
  10. My optimism actually has nothing to do with Darnold and more to do with Gase. He rode the coattails of one of the greatest QB savants to ever play. He had no business as a head coach or any of the other positions he tried to fill. I see Darnold as a rookie in terms of knowledge that's seen game speed for 3 years. If he's good, excellent, if not, he cost us a 2nd rounder. If we weren't sold on Fields then that's OK too. The risk vs reward is very good for us IMO.
  11. It does add more cap space but agents are going to know that as well. I would expect the asking price between 20-25% of the team’s projected cap space, maybe between $50-60m per year will be the asking price. How often does a QB of his caliber come up for availability? That is 3-4 high end position contracts. Would the sum of those be greater with Darnold than Watson by himself. Even more questions surround the Darnold situation than before if this is true.
  12. I know Watson is an insane talent but the cost is still likely going to be too high. We’ve already seen what happens when you have a franchise QB with a lack of talent surrounding them. You can only go so far. Being cap strapped and likely down 3 1sts and some 2nds would seriously hamper this team’s ability to contend.
  13. Better get some maple syrup for all those pancakes.
  14. I wouldn't really consider yahoo sports as a Panthers fan post. I think it's too early to call as far as best/worst moves go. If Darnold balls out and Irving works at LT, taking Horn will look amazing as long as he works out. I'm not sure I would have taken Fields at 8 if he's the 4th qb on your board. I know the value of the position, but if the coaches aren't sold on him, and they sure have watched a lot more game tape than me, I'm ok with that. I would have liked to have seen a more direct effort to address LT. I wasn't happy about Irving on day 1 of FA when there were going to be other guys available or too much about trading back in 2 to add picks. I get the overall value perspective, but I would have liked to address one of our biggest questions with a rookie on the cheap that could grow into starter by mid season.
  15. I thought we would end up with Sweat. Good thing Snyder wanted Haskins.
  16. Id be ok cutting Grier and looking for a QB with upside that could be a big project. 3rd string QB has some room to play and taking that risk is acceptable. Theres a lot of garbage but every once in a while you find a guy thats worthwhile. Grier isnt good enough and we can do better, or worse. If we are relying on our 3rd string we’re already in trouble anyway.
  17. Bradberry was easily worth more than Shaq. Good corners are hard to find and when you get one you damn sure don't let him walk to keep a LB unless that linebacker is HoF and that definitely isn't Shaq.
  18. I'm more worried about his mental aspect than his athletic abilities. I know they play a part, but having that cerebral aspect under control is so important. Tb12 nor Manning in their physical prime were the athletic threats we consider so important today, but both played the game at an unbelievable level because they had the mental aspect under such control. I'm not comparing Darnold to either, nor do I think he will achieve that level of greatness, but I do hope he can grow that cerebral aspect of his game leaps and bounds and that can make up for his average RAS.
  19. I'm OK with him not looking sharp right now. I'd rather him be getting confused now than during the season. Gase's offense was very scripted and didn't leave a lot of room to read or adjust. And if our defense is as good as we all feel it can be, getting reps against it can only help his development by helping show his gaps in skill and help fix them.
  20. Nothing says loving like a little bit of gummin.
  21. Or maybe we’re seriously disturbed by a man lying on the field in obvious distress and no one reacts. So when you ask yourself why they didnt react, its pretty fugging obvious its because this sport allows it so often nobody pays attention when it happens. Im very happy they saved his life and his wife and kids didn’t lose him. Im also disturbed by the fact players falling over is seen as a joke and not potentially serious.
  22. Seconds matter in response time for life threatening incidents. He died on the field. If they hadnt been able to revive him, how much could those 15 seconds have mattered. Constant flopping prevents quick reaction by medical personnel to actual injuries because they think players are going to pop right back up just like they do 99.9% of the time. It’s the boy who cried wolf on the pitch.
  23. I mean I know we could always sign someone off the street but not right after we put him there.
