Looks like we're signing a center off the Ravens practice squad according to CatCrave.
-
Its what they should do. Screw their division rival at every opportunity.

My magic 8 ball told me he's having dinner with the Tepper's Wednesday so I expect a poorly made VHS to digital upload and a 4 year 220m contract extension.
-
I get that. Im just saying with the comment be careful what we wish for with moving on from Bryce, this is the position we're in. Its almost extension time so we're going to have to make a choice soon. The beginning of year 3 looks the same as years 1 and 2 and thats not good for us as a franchise. We need a better plan for QB development in place for sure. Whoever our next rookie QB is, overall 1 or round 2 or 3, they need to sit the 1st year behind a vet. No more trade ups for QBs. That 1st year on the bench seems to be far more valuable. Our FO needs to get their poo together before Bryce or any other QB really stands a chance at success.

The problem when you draft a guy like Bryce the way you draft him with the trade up and assets spent is you cant afford for him to sit 2-3 years and develop. He has to be that guy now. We gave up too much for him to be what he is right now, and while that may not be fair, it is what it is. If we had stayed at 9 and drafted him there and he is this level of QB, we're out a 1st and while it stings, it's not crippling. But that's not what we did and it was crippling, not to mention, he wasn't even the QB our HC wanted. He didn't even fit Reich's system which hurt him even further. But now its year 3 and QB contracts are obscene. We're at the point we have to decide if he's worth what he's going to be asking. Based on performance, are you paying a 5 year, 200 million contract with 140 guaranteed? I sure as hell hope not. Bryce needs to be able to elevate the guys around him and he's not doing that. His physical limitations are clear, his field vision is spotty, his decision making is questionable and his ability to hold under pressure. Well, we saw that Sunday. Maybe he's good somewhere else, but where we find ourselves right now, staring down the barrel of year 3 with a 5th year option or contract extension on the horizon, we don't have the luxury to wait another season and hope. If he doesn't get it together in a big damn hurry he needs to be out the door.

Smitty goes off on CLT on WFNZ
SmokinwithWilly replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
How dare fans be upset when Tepper makes us slog through this embarrassing thing he calls professional football, especially when us pathetic nobodies have been right about the draft, free agents, and front office/coaching moves in general than those being paid millions. -
Little different perspective. Biggest draft bust ever has to be the Hornets trading away Kobe Bryant immediately after drafting him.
-
We tried to create the NFL version of new age art by eating 5 pounds of Taco Bell and washing it down with 2 gallons of that stuff they give you before a colonoscopy and this poo splattered canvas is what us fans get to look at week in and week out.

He can dissect a play at the dinner table in 10 minutes.

I wish we could trade XL for a set of white walls.

Now featuring Dave Canales' new game day menu item

I have no doubt at this point we could hire <insert random huddler name here> and have a better GM and HC than we do now. This poo is fugging embarrassing.
-
Yep. DC is in denial too. I want whatever they're smokin cuz it's some seriously good poo.

Or Spirit Halloween

If the Panthers lay an egg at home vs Atlanta...
SmokinwithWilly replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think he's given up. No quality picks spent on defense the past 3 years. No spending on defense the past 3 years. Offense that can't fight its way out of a wet paper bag. No help. No hope. The worst owner in the history of sports at the helm. Kind of reminds me of Reich. Just waiting for the axe to fall and keep cashing that paycheck. -
How will the Panthers prepare for Atlanta?
SmokinwithWilly replied to Kick's topic in Carolina Panthers
Kept on the sidelines for in between series. -
I wanted an offensive guy, but that guy for damn sure wasn't Frank Reich. I wanted Steichen or Ben Johnson. If we did go defense, I wanted to take a hard look at Ryans or Wilks. Can't ever remember thinking, damn I wish we had some of that Indy offense here in Carolina.

School Players Drafted Alabama 10 Georgia 10 Florida 6 LSU 6 Tennessee 5 Auburn 5 South Carolina 5 Ole Miss 4 Kentucky 3 Texas A&M 3 Arkansas 2 Mississippi State 2 So 2 of the 16 SEC schools represent 1/3 of the players drafted in the 2023 draft from the conference. That's a high concentration of talent in 2 places. So assuming he's facing 1 to 2 NFL draft caliber players, he's also playing with 4 others on offense, plus 5 on defense, not counting the other classes, averaged. He definitely had it easier playing at Bama than "Playing in the SEC" would suggest.
-
He wasn't. It was the result of media hype and that stupid S2 test. Stroud always made the most sense from a logical perspective trading up. AR was far too raw, Bryce had to defy the lack of 50 years of NFL QB success for someone with his measurables. It was a feel good story for a guy from a program that had more talent than anyone else they played week in and week out, and our cosplay NFL exec owners fell for it hook line and sinker.

And of those 62, 10 (17%) were from Alabama.

I wanted Slater in the 1st after we just missed out on Sewell. His film showed he could handle elite pass rushers even though his arms were an inch shorter than ideal which is why Rhule wouldn't even consider him. All pro as a rookie. And I'm with you that we should have taken CH in the 2nd. the 2 most important positions on the line solidified for a decade. Nothing against Horn, but you take a franchise LT when they're sitting in front of you, and Slater was clearly that. And the even more sad part is my homer Wolverine pick in the 3rd was Nico Collins. I didn't think he would turn into what he has, but for a 3rd rounder, I wouldn't have hesitated in the slightest. We've been trying to outsmart the room for years and we look really stupid. Horn, TMJ, BC or Slater, Creed, Collins. Completely different offense if we had done something so simple.

I dont know if he would have been able to negotiate a deal like that or not, but I think even a pitiful GM would have been able to move up 8 spots with 3 1sts and 2 2nds, of course Fittershits would have used ours instead of theirs. The deal bothers me because it's just one more instance of Tepper putting unqualified people at the helm and I don't think Morgan is really any different. It's still RAS scores, athleticism and unrealized potential instead of guys that can just play football. Good candidates don't want to come here. Tepper may be out of the building but I have no doubt his influence is still very much in place.
