  1. The way Darnolds been handled is the strangest part of all of this. If we're going to treat him like a rookie, and expect him to perform like one, then having PJ as a backup makes no sense. Darnold would need to sit and learn behind someone or from coaches, which he supposedly lacked with the Jets. You don't go and extend him for 18m as a "rookie". It's like paying bloated contracts to QBs 15 years ago because they were the first pick. That's essentially what we did. If it's possible with all the VR tech out there now, I'm putting Sam in a simulation constantly making him learn to see defenses from the field over and over again. There's only so much you can work on in practices. In some areas we're better than we were, in others well, we know. Coaching players up only goes so far in the NFL. These are all higher end players already and you can only bring them so far. They either have it or they don't.
  2. First 3 games were simple, give it to CMC. Last 4 games, where's CMC?
  3. One thing both of them have going for them is the strength of their olines. That's hard to ignore as an OC and I think it would take someone who has seen the value of calling plays behind a wall rather than a sieve to get us focused on building a respectable line
  4. He's saying he needs to slow his game down and stop being so jumpy. The old adage slow is smooth, smooth is fast comes to mind.
  5. Unless this team finds a new philosophy it will be a long time. We have to prioritize building and maintaining an offensive line.
  6. He still may be. We can control only what we can control. It's not like the deadline is in an hour.
  7. Pretty much. Single rich guy in a place where the material from 50 women's bikinis might be enough to make a napkin or Charlotte.
  8. The only way I could see a trade happen including players would be something like this 2022 and 2023 1st DJax YGM Now for the contingencies. If the NFL did choose to suspend Watson for the remainder of this year, we could have the option of voiding the trade and would get the return of 1sts and Houston's 2nd and 4th as compensation for Djax and YGM since they won't likely be able to or want to return. If the suspension took the remainder of this year and the 2022 season or longer and the announcement came after the draft, then we would get 2023 2nd and 3rd, and our 23 1st and their 24 1st. It's risky for both teams but it's the only way I see something like this working given the legal issues surrounding Watson.
  9. Another Watson thread discretely disguised as Joe Burrow...
  10. Could be. But if all of a sudden an advocacy group starts making a lot of noise about the claims and it gets some steam and goes viral, he's not going to be playing. That's what makes trading for him so risky. Public opinion is the only court that matters in cases like this.
  11. They don't have to suspend him right now. Houston isn't playing him. So the NFL can save face with the players union and allow its own version of due process without actually doing anything. If he gets traded and it looks like for half a second that he will suit up and play AND there will be some negative PR, his ass will be on the list or he'll be suspended. The NFL is a brand and it will be protected at all costs. It's just business and we've all seen Roger will do what's best for the shield, all else be damned.
  12. Guys wanting a ring will come play if Brady calls. They'll take less money for a year for a hot at a ring. Nobody else in the NFL can do that. This is basically the NFL version of what LeBron did in Miami.
  13. It really would depends on the terms of the deal. Any player swaps would have to involve Darnold. Taking Watsons 50m salary, add 18 for Darnold, CMC, Robby and the we have to pay DJ this franchise would be in a cap hell even the Saints couldn't get out of.
  14. It's the players part that worries me about any trade. Can't really tell a guy sorry we traded you and made you move your family but we didn't really mean it. Come on back.
  15. I don't disagree with the legal part but Goodell is such a hypocrite with league policy enforcement. He does what's in the best interest of the NFL image and if that means Watson needs to be suspended long term to appease some group, that's what he will do.
  16. Just because he hasn't been doesn't mean he can't be charged. How stupid would we feel giving up 3 1sts and a couple of good players and Watson goes on the exempt list. It's not like you can undo traded players without consequences like draft picks. Until the investigation is over, I just don't think he's worth the risk.
  17. Darnlod has the tools to be a good NFL QB. Arm talent, mobility and he's shown flashes of having "it" as we saw in the Vikings game with that 4th quarter comeback. The question has always been surrounding his mental aspect and how much Gase and company were responsible. I admit, after reading the reviews of Gase in NY, the blocking and Sam trying to do everything to win (it seemed), I get why he was worth looking at. Now as far as the actual evaluation in person, I can't judge that, but he had the potential to be a average to above average NFL QB. I don't know if it's ghosts or he just can't process NFL level speed fast enough, but something is definitely off upstairs. My personal thought is quicksand and the more he fights the worse it gets. Those first few games he was feeling it somewhat with CMC as a safety valve, but now, the wheels have just fallen off. I don't know if he can be fixed or if sitting on the bench behind a NFL starting caliber QB could help. I do know trading the farm for Watson isn't going to fix our blocking or stone hands receivers or our boring predictable offense.
  18. It's savage because it's honest. Darnold sucks right now for whatever reason. The offense looks like ass. Our OC can only function with CMC and our team looks uninspired.
  19. It wasn't really a sack. He was trying to prevent an interception.
