  1. Pretty sure Hurney and Brady were behind the Teddy signing. Darnold may have been Rhule. PJ was 100% Rhule but he's also just a fringe roster guy and hasn't been "the answer" at QB or costing much at all so I don't have much issues with having PJ on the back end of our roster. He was a better backup than Grier anyways. Really good point on your second paragraph. We already have pretty much known we're done with Sam based on reports all offseason and especially the Watson fiasco, but this definitely is another tell suggesting this is the case. I really suspect come week 1 Darnold won't be on our roster and Baker or Jimmy G will be.
  2. Yeah a far cry from 2017 for them. Penning is solid but is likely a big downgrade on Armstead (cheaper, yes). Olave makes no sense at all for them.

I think Robby has more value than we think. He was bad last year, yes. But the dude put up 1000 yards with Teddy B and had some really good years with the Jets' trash QBs. I think he could go to KC or GB with those QBs and offenses and put up 1200+ yards. A trade with one of those teams makes a lot of sense for both sides after neither got any WRs yesterday.
  4. Agree on Rhule. McAdoo I actually like as an OC and potential QB developer. He got the absolute most out of Eli who had his 2 best seasons of his career under him despite being past his prime then too. But yeah coaching staffs can change so quickly. Having an elite OL like it seems we may have and a QB with a ton of potential like Howell can also help us entice a better HC to consider us if (once?) Rhule is gone.
  5. I know earlier in the offseason you didn't want Howell to Panthers because we'd be a bad situation for him. How do you feel after Ekwonu pick and the other FA OL signings? (and some other signs of trending in the right direction, though still a ton of concerns). I'm kinda getting on the Howell train at this point, especially if we can get him in the 3rd and not trading too much to jump back in. I like Willis a bit more but I suspect he goes in the next 5-10 picks and we won't trade enough to get him there.
  6. not many but I thought I saw some people upset "we took a guard" that high. I completely disagree but there were non-Panthers analysts out there pre-draft who thought Ekwonu fit better as a guard. That's the only real concern I could possibly imagine regarding this pick. Or those who desperately wanted one of these (bad) QBs...
  7. Also worth noting Rhule has "final say" in his contract. So if he didn't want to go along with this new power shift (which I agree is there) he could play hardball and essentially force Tepper's hand to either fire him while still paying off the rest of the contract or to let him do what he wants to do. So I'm not really concerned about these dynamics. I think Rhule is adjusting. I don't really care what he looks like in press conferences.
  8. Note he said there's "absolutely a chance" it's a trade back in tonight for a Willis/Howell type, but also could be a day 3 prospect too.
  9. I could see both Jimmy or Baker AND a rookie QB here. Would require some maneuvering with Sam and basically getting Jimmy or Baker for free (which seems possible, they don't really have any value with their current contracts). But if you take a Willis or Howell they shouldn't be starting year 1, and I really hope we don't have to see Sam for another year. Grabbing Baker with the upfront expectation from both sides essentially that it's a 1 year arrangement for him to rehab his value and help get us to the playoffs and bridge to Willis would be a great situation if you ask me. I'm not a big Baker fan but with this OL and a healthy McCaffrey/Moore I think we could have an above average offense with Baker under center.
  10. I think if Willis or Howell slides to a spot where the compensation to get the pick is reasonable then we could see it. Otherwise I highly highly doubt it.
  11. Yep. This thread should be “Baker has no excuses”
  12. Thank God no Pickett to us. We may have been tempted to trade next years first for him...
  13. Aints pass on QB too. Penning is a decent pick but not great.
  14. 2013 I believe. Geno Smith was the 1st QB taken in round 2
  15. He’s way better than his stats. Think Diggs before getting traded to a team that utilized him properly...
  16. Lol obviously. I would honestly consider Robbie and a 2023 2nd rounder though IF we are really high on Malik. Then you get Baker and sit Malik for 1-2 years while still potentially competing in the meantime.
  17. Aj brown gonna be the highest paid WR in the league soon is my guess. Only reason that trade makes any sense for TEN
  18. Robby to Chiefs or Packers for one of their late 1sts to get Malik. Deal
  19. So Titans have no wide receivers now
  20. QB will come in time. This is a huge step in the right direction for this franchise.
  21. Maybe but I think we were definitely still taking calls. Otherwise pick would’ve been in sooner I’d think
  22. I’ve gotten so excited about our OL player acquisitions that I almost forgot about the OL coach hire. Has a tremendous track record and now a ton of talent to work with. Can’t wait to see the Panthers have a truly dominant OL for the first time maybe ever
  23. So forgive me if I’m wrong but LOL Aints and Falcons taking QBs who aren’t even that good when they have a ton of other holes. Nice
  24. Yeah could be, would be a pretty cool draft to get Ekwonu and Howell. I could see Howell being there well into day 2. Don’t want to trade future day 2 picks though...
  25. Well considering no QBs have been taken yeah “there are a lot of guys left.” I bet all of those go off the board today/tomorrow. Baker very well could be coming here soon
