It’s preseason and we have no significant storylines that can draw interest in the preseason so I get it and don’t really care

yeah I get it, but it's just a few months where the focus is entirely on getting ready for the season. It worked completely fine for us for a few decades. Another couple years wouldn't kill any of them.

yeah of course, just meant in the context of the WR group. And if Coker turns into a stud at the end of the day getting 1 stud out of a 1st round pick and a UDFA is a great outcome.

He's still under contract next year for dirt cheap then becomes either RFA or ERFA and we could keep him 1 more year pretty cheap too. And his role will have a big impact on his production and subsequent contract, and right now he's pretty much set to be no more than our 3rd most targeted wideout. It wouldn't shock me if he overtakes XL at some point but it would take quite some time. And obviously if he performs well, we're not going to cut him. Maybe he could get traded in the future or walk as a UFA once he reaches that status, but my point was just about how secure his roster spot is. He's not getting cut, as some have suggested is a possibility.

Not saying it'll happen as he has developing to do and has tough competition on the depth chart to even get the opportunity, but I think he's more likely to become a Victor Cruz caliber receiver for us than to be released in the next few years. Unlikely for sure but still more likely than us just getting rid of him for nothing for no reason. Dude was an absolute diamond in the rough last year and was easily our 2nd best offensive weapon behind Chuba.

Can't help but laugh at some of the opinions I've seen lately that he could be an odd man out based on his "slow" camp so far. Not sure he'll get top 3 WR time yet but he's a lock for the roster and strong favorite for #4 with potential to pass Thielen too.

Not really any surprises and I doubt it'll change all that much but also worth noting that "official" depth charts this early are never put out by the coach or accurately represent the real pecking order other than a guess from whatever staffer they have put it out there. Occasionally used deliberately to motivate a player or to play games with the league too, however. Point being, I wouldn't read anything into it even if it mostly lines up with what we expect anyways.

It's kind of a flawed comparison though as we are such a relatively young franchise and many of those streaks were pre-cap era where smaller markets had even less of a chance of contending than they do now.

Gruden is just an awesome football guy, period. Whether in media or as a coach or whatever. Obviously there are plenty of other personalities out there but to me the NFL isn't quite as good without him involved. And yeah I really don't think he's racist or anything, the email thing was such bullshit. There are way way way worse people out there in the NFL with their jobs secure.

And even then my excitement would be very tempered. We have had like 4 seasons under Tepper where we had a winning record within the first 5ish games and then some epic collapses…

I fear that XL just sucks and will be a bust. But Tet and Coker can make it so that wouldn’t matter

Honestly if a team was offering us a 1st for Bryce right now I do that deal in a damn heartbeat. Ride it out with Dalton or whoever while we pseudo-tank and continue to let time build the D, etc. and grab a QB high in the 1st round next year. Hopefully Bryce proves me wrong but I'm just so far from sold on his future here, even with the rebound last year. But I don't think any team would offer us a 1st right now.

I was a Philly Brown truther and yeah he was actually really good for a while. But frankly Coker showed more last year than Philly B ever did. Honestly think Coker could reach peak Victor Cruz level

No. Coker was our best WR last year and has a good shot at being our 2nd best this year.

Luke is a lock. Look at his accolades and Patrick Willis who retired at similar young age and got in. 89 has pissed a lot of people off and I think he’ll have to wait a while — unjustly. Both should’ve been obvious first ballots, but alas, here we are. Both will get in eventually but I think Luke will come first. He frankly should’ve been first ballot. LOVE TD and Greg but neither is a HoF lock, not even super likely. Maybe get in down the road in a weaker class, but I expect neither to ever get in. Panthers legends without a doubt though.

Sucks that there's no camp fan access this year (and next year? I forgot how long it'll be). Even for free I never had much interest in fan fest. But I loved watching regular training camp practices/scrimmages at Wofford, that was awesome and free (well, aside from travel, accommodations, etc.).

People read way too much into small sample sizes in training camp. Look, I hope for the best from Renfrow and that he's fully recovered from injuries and rejuvenated and can have a nice comeback season. But even at his best he was an average slot receiver who compiled his way to a single 1000 yard season (in a year Derek Carr threw for 4800 yards). He has been horribly ineffective in 27 games since then and out of the league for a year. Coker showed more to me as a UDFA rookie last year than Renfrow has shown in his entire career, frankly. Thielen yes is near retirement and basically just a locker room guy at this point but he's also still been wayyyy more effective than Renfrow recently. And JT also has shown a ton of potential and ability as a pass catching threat and will be on the field nearly every down. I'd be shocked if he has less targets/receptions than Renfrow. I'm not super high on XL frankly (thought Coker was better and showed more potential last year), but I think it can be assumed he'll be top 2 with Tet. Hey anything can happen. Maybe Thielen shows he's lost more than a few steps rapidly, TE becomes forgotten in our offense, XL gets benched and Renfrow does have that great comeback year. But as it stands now I doubt any of those things happen and 1 practice in August isn't changing my mind. We'll see what happens throughout camp and once pads come on and the young guys and rookies naturally earn more opportunity and playing time. Maybe it'll be a different discussion then, but Renfrow's last 27 games and year off FAR outweigh 1 practice.

1. Their ages are completely irrelevant. 2. Thielen had more yards and over twice as many TDs in 10 games last year than Renfrow has had in 27 games since 2022. So yeah, he probably should have more playing time and opportunity. Not to mention JT and Coker who both have been considerably more effective as receivers than Renfrow has been recently and who also have the consideration of needing playing time for their development.

I don't care about what random people on social media say, they are completely irrelevant. What I've seen here is people saying it's dumb to hit the QB, and they agree with Canales' comments on it wanting it to not happen again. "Attack" is such an outrageous exaggeration, if an NFL player's skin is as thin as yours and considers it an attack then dude will never ever succeed anyways. Telling him not to touch the QB in practice will have zero effect on his effort or intensity. He did something dumb and got called out on it. Move on.
