I was told that the only reason the Panthers would trade for Darnold was cause they are convinced by him.

This is not even close to some of the worst threads that have been made on here.

I can believe if the Panthers aren’t convinced in the QB class of this draft but you can’t convince me that at this moment they are convinced Darnold is their guy.

They will be in for a rude awakening when Cam comes back after we trade back with New England and he starts ahead of Sam.

They will take Fields ahead of us.

Only if we fleece them and i don’t mean securing a future 1st round pick, that is simply the bare minimum that should be in such a deal.

See i dont think Tepper is specifically pushing for Fields. However, he probably has made it clear the importance of getting a franchise QB if we believe one is there to be taken especially in the first round.

Won’t surprise me if we select a WR in the first, especially if we trade down.

Ever since hating we picked Cam #1 I have become a lot more open minded. The only thing I would truly hate is if we traded down without at least getting a teams first round pick next year.

Falcons will want a king’s ransom. Close to what SF gave up.

If Darnold proves that he is our guy to the Panthers FO then I hope they do build around him. However, until then he will always be competing against who is on the roster or who will be on the roster. At this moment I see little reason to believe he is no different from Teddy when he arrived last season.

Darnold is not solely competing on who is on the immediate roster but against the future QB the Panthers will look to replace him with if he doesn't look good enough. Same way Teddy dropped the ball and has now been shipped out.

I don't know why this is hard to comprehend. We can only speculate if they think Darnold can be revived but one thing for sure is that having him on the team gives us more options.

Whether we draft a QB at #8 or not Darnold will get to compete.

Anything outside the top 10 should require next years 1st rd pick.

Then he is a two year rental like Teddy.

We probably think he is better then Teddy but I don’t think that implies we also believe unequivocally he is our franchise QB.

Also, Cam’s experience is what happens when you fail to properly build around your franchise QB. The reason those teams failed wasn’t due to only focusing on building Cam. On the contrary it was believing Cam could do it all. It was like when we drafted Cam and realized he can be a one man show on offense we treated him as such and put everything on his shoulders. No surprise we ended up cutting his career short from all the punishment he took. What many of us are saying is that acquiring a franchise QB has to be the starting point because in todays NFL it nearly impossible to achieve success without one.
