It looks like we will need 12.6 million for the draft. Factoring that in, we don’t have much available without knowing the Shaq numbers. But certainly still enough to get someone.

I think intentional leaks are also a big factor. Potentially even with this front office. They could be intentionally leaking different names for our favored QB on purpose. I think so much of this time of year is gamesmanship and Voldemort was just clueless.

Owners love to pit player vs player. It’s one way of getting people to forget that all of these players are making money for the owners. Lamar isn’t taking money from other players, he wants a reflection of his actual value to the owner. The system, set up by the owners, restricts the pie to a finite number and thusly allows them to throw up their hands and blame the system of why the players aren’t paid according to their value. So, operating within that system does “force” The team to make moves that affects other players but anytime someone can get closer to their value, that should be celebrated. Vilifying that is exactly what the owners want.

While I would love being on Hard Knocks, we are exempt this year and I definitely don’t want to be bad enough to be considered next year lol.

We still don’t know the Shaq restructure numbers, The Hurst numbers or these numbers. Best I can tell without any of those numbers is that we are currently at $18M space and need $12M space for rookie contracts.

My basic rule is to side with players against the owners. I would have to be moved of that position by circumstances. In this case, Lamar should’ve used an agent as they have advantages (like illegal tampering at the combine) that he can’t take advantage of (like having owners of other clubs on speed dial). That’s not to say that the league directly punishes players without agents but they kinda do. Regardless, The owners never act in the best interest of the players and since the players are at the power disadvantage, I side with them, in general. But Lamar doesn’t seem to be helping himself here and I hope he gets the money he feels he’s worth.

I like this. Still need a WR and a RB. Money is getting tight I think but I’m excited about all of this. Good stuff.

I don’t understand this argument. I’ve seen it a lot and I don’t understand how a college QB history as any meaningful effect on how good a guy is now. Just off the top of my head, Joe Montanas went to Notre Dame therefore Jimmy Clausen should be awesome right? Right? edit: I went to University of Miami so I hate OSU. Excellent point that we can offer a starting spot. Can’t imagine a lot of other teams with any chance at the playoffs would start him.

Fully locked in, good O line and a rookie QB who’s potentially a franchise QB? Yes please. Just need some weapons. Still concerned about moving to a 3-4 but I’m overall more excited than concerned.

We may actually get some cap room for this off-season yet. Things are looking up boys and girls. Looking up.
