  1. Stop it. You can not like Pat McAfee, you can think he's annoying, loud mouthed or whatever other words you want to use to describe his version of sports media you clearly don't like. There is absolutely no scenario or universe where he is even remotely close to being "shittier" or even as terrible as Brett Favre is. The closest thing to a scandal McAfee has is an arrest for public intoxication when he was in his 20s. On a scale of 1 - Stealing money from fuging Medicaid recipients in the poorest state in the country... that may be a 1.
  2. He was already had the "Assistant Head Coach" title with the Lions so curious what his official role with the team will be. I'd still like one of Brian Johnson/Kevin Patullo for OC.
  3. I'm gonna be honest I've heard this quote at every corporate funcintion and training class I've been in for the last 7-8 years in sales, mortgage lending and presently in Healthcare. And you've got it wrong. The true quote, which was originated as a misquotation of the Fench Poet Voltaire and made famous by Jim Collins Book Good to Great is: "Good is the Enemy of Great" In the chapter of the book he goes on to explain how as a country we don't have great schools, because we have good schools. We don't have a great government, because we have a good government. The vast majority of people love good lives rather than great lives because it is so easy to settle for good lives. I mean no offense to you but flipping the quote as a point of support to hiring Wilks is at its very core the literal essence of that true quote. Good enough sucks. It does, especially if you are capable of much much more. Wilks was good enough to right the Panthers back to a 6-6 finish. He's probably good enough to hover around that .500 mark. Then what? The 2023 Panthers would just be the next in a long line of Panthers teams to never have back to back winning seasons because the Carolina Panthers have consistently been "good enough" I'm not saying Frank Reich is going to get the Panthers to be great. Nobody knows that for sure. I would say I have more faith in his understanding of how to get a team to be great in today's version of the game. He is a much needed deviation to the norm for us as an offensive minded coach that has produced top offensive units helmed by Carson Wentz, The corpse of Phillip Rivers, Jacoby Brissett and Andrew Luck. His connections and eye for talent are great.
  4. Wasn't my first choice but I can get behind it. Go get Fangio as DC, Patullo as OC retain Campen and Tabor. Find a QB and lets do it! Welcome aboard Coach.
  5. I by no means hold that play against him whatsoever. I could talk myself into any of the three known candidates. Steichen was my choice but seems that may not have materialized how anyone hoped.
  6. Not sure if you've gotten an answer or not but Pat Macafee Darius Butler and AQ Shipley said based on what you can see based on lining your OL out wide with a speed guy, Dak running immediately after making the throw and the initial look the 9ers gave before the time out it likely was supposed to look something like: 1) Play designed assuming the 49ers rush none and drop 11 in coverage like teams usually do 2) Hook and lateral at the point of the catch, probably with Zeke or Dak 3) a throwback to the opposite sideline where you have a speed guy and linemen forming a seal like a screen On paper may have worked but we'll never know because the 49ers called a time out after seeing the formation and afterwards when they came out in the same formation the 49ers of course rushed zeke immediately and blew the play up.
  7. Hell, we're already almost halfway there with exactly zero seasons even sniffing a ring. February 7th will be 7 years since SB50. Seven Years.
  8. Ya know honestly probably not. I thought I was done after the CMC trade - especially with how we'd been playing up to that point with the way that Rams game went but time heals all wounds and Wilks somehow brought back some entertainment to my Sundays. I thought I was done when they cut Cam, but they picked up Teddy and having gone to Louisville while Teddy was there I was excited to see him QB the team especially since the last time we saw Cam he couldn't throw 15 yards down the field. It hurt but it felt like the right move at the time. I thought I was done when they cut Smitty but again there was reason to be optimistic with Cam, Greg, Luke, TD etc. He was my favorite player of all time but I understood the move. I think the reason why I'll never be able to quit the team is memories of the good times and a hope that things get better with an understanding that there will be bad times along the way. I have joked more than once the mindset is similar to a toxic relationship where you keep forgiving time and time again because of how things used to be and "maybe they'll change." Sincerely I have spent 2/3 of my life chearing for this team and over the course of that time I have so many great memories, many of them with my dad, that I will cherish forever. Panthers games win or lose will always be something I share with him. I will probably always hold onto that nostalgia and maintain a level of sentimental attachment that will make it tough to quit the team. Here's to hoping this blind loyalty ends with a super bowl at some point in my lifetime.
  9. Brady to Vegas Carr to the Colts Lions roll with Goff Seattle reups Geno We end up with our choice of Stroud or Levis at 9.
  10. We'll see. I distinctly remember another player on our team who was tagged and somehow ended up playing for another team without any compensation coming our way. Of course that could have just been ole NippleShorts being an megalomaniac but still. Crazier things have happened.
  11. Is it the way he plays or the way the Ravens, like Rivera and the old Panthers did with Cam, have designed an offense where he is forced to play like a battering ram on the eve of his massive payday due to the team's injuries and failure to address the WRs. They are dog poo without him out there because nobody can throw the ball when your leading receivers are some guy named Isaiah Likely and the ghost of Sammy Watkins. Get him some weapons and protection and go back to allowing him to be at his most dangerous when a play breaks down the way it was during his MVP season rather than forcing him to be the focal point of the entire offense.
  12. Fitt said we wanna get sexy (sure he meant in the draft but I'll use it a bit broader Idk whats more sexy on offense then QB: Lamar RB: Foreman/Chuba/Blackshear WR: DJ Moore, Quentin Johnston (Rd 1), Terrace Marshall Jr TE: Darnell Washington (Rd 2) That offense would put some points up. In fact it probably breaks every team record from 2015 with a competent offensive coaching staff.
  13. I'd be very down for Mike LeFleur as the OC if Wilks gets the job. Wilks isn't my first or maybe even my second choice for HC but I think we could do a lot worse than LeFleur.
  14. I would not speak with any degree of certainty about anything draft related 3 days after the end of the regular season. We'll just have to wait and see.
  15. Get through the combine and the pro days first and see what happens. Of course they don't love a QB and aren't wowed by anyone.... yet. They haven't met with them. Fields is a special special runner but he still leaves a lot to be desired as a QB with his ability to throw the ball. If Chicago takes a qb at 1 they essentially signal they do not believe in Fields and his price tag is going to plummet into the neighborhood of what Darnold went for when the Jets took Zac Wilson. They absolutely can not go into camp with both of those QBs and have a divided locker room. IF, and of course it's a big if, Chicago does pull the trigger on a QB I'm making the call to see if we could get Fields. I think Fields paired with a dynamic offensive coach (ideally someone like Steichen who literally molded an offense around a very similar skillet in Philly with Hurts) becomes a very ideal scenario for Carolina. Not saying Steichen is my choice at coach or that Fields will even be available but I am saying it is way wayyyyyy to soon to expect there to he any reason the Bears would say anything different regarding Fields.
  16. Richardson is there at 9. Levis probably is too. Tanner McKee will be there in the 2nd. Every year we go through the same song and dance about how many QBs will be gone before we pick. Last year the Lions were gonna take a QB at 2 and if wanted Willis we'd have to take him at 6 because there's nooooo way he'd fall out of the 1st because he has too much raw physical potential. The year before there were talks Mac Jones at 3 and 5 QBs going in the first 6 picks and we'd never get Fields, Lance or Mac. 3 months ago this was one of the weakest QB class we've seen with no consensus number 1 and now we're wondering what we're going to do with 6 QBs going before pick 9?
  17. Problem is you're calling the Bears about pick number 1 now... That expensive pick just got more expensive.
  18. Very true. Tough to ignore Smittys return ability from a statistical point of view. When you start talking about all the parts of his game that weren't quantifiable on the stat sheet like his height, toughness, who he had throwing him the ball most his career, playing on a heavy run first team and as you mentioned his commitment to do his part in the ground game.... Just gets harder and harder to make sense of.
  19. Honestly both Torry Holt and Andre Johnson are head scratchers getting the nod over 89. I could make an argument against Reggie but his numbers are at least closer to 89. Reggie Wayne - 1070 Rec 14,345 Yards 82 TDS 6X Pro Bowl 1X All Pro 1 Super Bowl Andre Johnson - 1062 Rec 14,185 Yards 70 TDs 7X Pro Bowl 2X All Pro Torry Holt - 920 Rec 13,382 Yards 74 TDs 7X Pro Bowl 1X All Pro 1 Super Bowl Steve Smith - 1031 Rec 14,731 Yards 81 TDs 5X Pro Bowl 2X All Pro 1 NFL Receiving Triple Crown I don't want to hear poo about Super Bowls with Calvin Johnson not only getting in but getting in 1st Ballot. Even if that was the reason then how do we justify Andre Johnson getting a nod over Smith? Are we going off pro bowl selections now? Is that or is it not a glorified popularity contest? Obviously I'm a homer and I'm not going to pretend that I'm not... but trying to look at this objectively - It just doesn't make a ton of sense to me to be honest.
  20. He would undoubtedly wear out his welcome in 5-6 years. But DAMN would those be a fun 5-6 years. That said I feel like we just saw this same song and dance last year where it was a "Will he? Wont he?" with the Vikings if I recall correctly. I would not be surprised at all if this is once again Harbaugh and his agent working on getting him another pay raise.
  21. I'll reserve judgement to see how the hiring process plays out. If we bring in a consultant to help Tepper and we interview the Johnsons and Steichens of the world along with Wilks and everyone is on board then I can get behind it. Wilks 100% deserves an interview and consideration for the job outside of a token interview. Whether he's the best man for the job moving forward remains to be seen but I would not hate the idea of Wilks picking his own staff and running the show.
  22. Man if we lose tomorrow and we still pick to high for Stroud/Young then Quentin Johnston would be a hell of a consolation prize. Maybe not the biggest area of need with Moore locked up and TMJ showing promise but damn would that WR depth chart look nasty on paper.
  23. Raiders save 33 mil if they cut him as a June 1st cut. May not cost us any capital which I very much am intrigued by. I think I'd rather draft Richardson in the 1st and reup Sam and roll with those 2 and Corrall before I give up any draft capital and pay him 30+ mil a season. But as a FA signing... for the right price I would certainly be intrigued and at least kick the tires. He'd be the best QB we've fielded since TJ Watt ended Cams career in 2018 and I dont think it would be that close.
