Panthers Free Agency Re-Cap and grading
MillionDollarCam replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Unless we go out and acquire a top tier defense end through free agency or the draft then I think Haynes blows up this year. It took Reddick four seasons to put it together, Haynes is coming into his fifth season but his fourth season of playing a meaningful number of snaps. I think Pasqualoni was an underrated hire for the DL and he should be able to help guys like Haynes (and YGM, Brown, etc.) develop. -
If Ekwonu is there then they need to sprint to the podium regardless of if we’ve signed an LT or not. He’s got that Orlando Pace mauler in him. I think Campen would turn him into one of if not the best LT in football.

If all three tackles are gone and we’ve decided to go with Jimmy G or Minshew at QB then it would be really hard to pass on Thibodeaux. Assuming we haven’t solved the QB position, you can guarantee a QB. The Panthers will not go into the season without a challenger to Darnold.

Kenny Pickett > Malik Willis (at least for us)

We’ll see in a few years. -

Congrats to Lance, Willis will go in the top 10 and then a few years later we can revisit. -

If one bad passing game against a poor opponent is why you don’t draft a QB then just flat out admit that you wouldn’t have drafted Allen either. Not to mention the fact that Willis destroyed ULM on the ground… You guys want some home run candidate from Alabama or Ohio State but the bottom line is school doesn’t matter. Willis has the traits that you are looking for in a franchise QB and a good coach will get him coached up on the areas that he needs to improve on. -

And your angle is worse… a QB with a similar skill set to Lance is available and that QB played against better competition and had success against better competition. I’ve literally debunked every claim you’ve made. Move along, your wasting your time. -

Yeah, it was a bad loss but once again anyone who knows college football knows that Terry Bowden is turning that program around, they hung with both Louisiana and LSU at the end of the year. -

Lol take your L and move on. By your logic we would have passed on Josh Allen too. Willis’ decision to transfer to Liberty worked just fine and Willis would have mopped that NDSU team the same way he mopped Tech. -

They were independent, they schedule who they can get? What’s Lance’s excuse, why didn’t he attend an FBS school? Not good enough? -

Again you have no idea what you are talking about… BYU is Mormon and Liberty is Baptist… the beliefs are not even remotely the same. No G5 team is playing three P5 schools a year.. and Liberty is the one that is shelling out money to play these schools. They’ve paid Syracuse to visit Lynchburg and they are paying Virginia Tech do the same. -

I’ve watched every single game he’s played, most of them live. Louisiana and Ole Miss are just flat out better than Liberty… the ULM game was an outlier but definitely a bad loss. -

I mean Willis beat McCall… -

He also beat Syracuse. And he was doing this with a bunch of two and three star recruits who won’t be in the NFL. He is the only offensive player on Liberty that’s an NFL player. -

A lot of people who have an ounce of knowledge knew Liberty had a football team… before Matt Rhule was coach of the Panthers he was the coach of Baylor and who did they lose to in his first game? Liberty… In fact, for G5 teams, Liberty probably plays one of the strongest schedules year in and year out. Next year they play Wake Forest, Arkansas, BYU, and Virginia Tech. Not to mention, Willis and Lance trained with the same QB coach (Sean McEvoy). McEvoy has said multiple times that Willis even has the better arm. As for why he transferred to. Liberty. Willis is a devout Christian and really liked the atmosphere that Liberty provided him with along with learning under a former SEC coach. Do a little research before spewing your nonsense. -
Only thing we can do is revisit in three years when maybe he’s found a way on to the field.

Lance produced for one year and it was against guys who now sell cars and dabble in penny stocks. Not to mention he accomplished it all on the best team in FCS football. And for those in the know, Willis transferred because Bo Nix is a legacy child at Auburn. His dad was a starting QB at Auburn and his family is very influential in that school. Willis was steered to Liberty because Malzahn and Freeze are really good friends. Malzahn wouldn’t have sent Freeze a dud, he knew Willis had talent. And you can’t bring up the competition level when Lance it there playing Butler and North Dakota and Willis is playing teams like Virginia Tech, N.C. State, Syracuse, Coastal Carolina, Army, Louisiana, and Ole Miss.. all while having an inferior team. I’ll take what he did against Syracuse, Tech, and Coastal ten times out of ten over anything that Lance did against Butler. -
Ya know what's nice about the Bozeman signing?
MillionDollarCam replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
What’s not great is that it’s a one year deal. -
I stand corrected, you are right.
-
Minshew went 6-10 in what was supposed to be a horrible year for Jacksonville, they were in 9 of the 16 games he played. The following year Minshew played in 9 games, in 8 of those games the Jags didn’t have a chance because their defense gave up 30+ points. In the one game that the Jags held their opponent under 30 points, they won. Before you say I’m making excuses for him, the above excuse was the exact excuse that this fan base used when Cam was lighting it up with Chud… we simply had no chance because the defense was poo.
-
Minshew went undrafted because he’s small, isn’t an elite athlete, and had accuracy issues. However, he has since found the accuracy and should be a starter in this league. Additionally, if it’s a Mickey Mouse offense then how did Kliff Kingsbury get a head coaching job running the same offense and why are Mahomes and Murray succeeding after running the same offense? Love was given a chance against Detroit and looked like dog poo so Green Bay had to change course.
-
Unfortunately for Love, athleticism doesn’t equal success at the QB position. He (Love) was drafted based off his sophomore year but regressed more than any QB in college football during his junior year… meanwhile, Minshew was lighting it up at Washington State. If you like Love that’s fine but it can’t be based off of his tape because his actual tape (not highlight reel) is atrocious outside of one random year. Love’s game against Detroit killed any trade value he had.
-
Because they aren’t going to take less than what they got for him when at the very minimum he is a great backup for them… it’s called supply and demand. And Rhule was too busy hitching his wagon to Darnold to trade for Minshew. Luckily Fitterer is running the show now.
