Teddy Bridgewater likely on the outs in Carolina

Yes, ANOTHER Watson thread but bear with me. After reviewing many of the Watson threads, it appears that Huddlers are self sorting into two cohorts: The first group would be thrilled to see Watson in Charlotte, but are skeptical about the price that may have to be paid to get him here; let’s call them Watson ‘curious’. And then we have the Watson ‘at any price’ crowd, implying or suggesting that Watson has the ‘it’ factor that solves every other roster problem and delivers a Super Bowl victory, for that is what it means to say, ‘at any price’; let’s call them Watson ‘maximalists’. So, time for the ‘maximalists’ to stand up and be counted. If you are in the ‘at any price’ crowd, you are challenged as the Panthers ‘GM for a day’, to declare specifically how much you are willing to give Houston in picks and players to secure Watsons services in Carolina. Next, explain how you will build a roster around Watson that delivers the Super Bowl. Now, don’t be a wimp and answer the first question only, for that is cheating. You still have to build a roster around Watson after you have traded away ‘X’ picks and ‘Y’ players. My bias is probably pretty clear at this point; I am Watson ‘curious’. And I am very concerned that anything more than two firsts (2021, 2022) and CMC may set this team back years, especially if it includes one or more of Burns, Chinn and Brown. ‘Maximalists’, you are on the clock. Go.

Possible, objective, unsupported Watson scenarios

I notice that Bridgewater is not involved in any of the above trade scenarios. Intentional? -

I know. Was trying to suggest the idea that K-Mart coupons are still more valuable than Teddy Checkdown but the humor was too subtle. Admittedly, it's not my best work.

What do you have against K-Mart coupons?

Pie for Cerberus. I wonder how many got your mythical reference.

1 and 3 are facts; 2, 4 and 5 are conjecture and subject to debate -
You can if you’re willing to stink it up for the upcoming season and draft in the top 3-5 next year.

Well, I'm David's accountant and he consults with me before he talks to any of you. Spreadsheets over ho's and family.

Several variations on that theme but the original quote was from Otto von Bismarck, "God looks after drunks, little children and the United States of America."

I played QB on our JV team so, obviously I’m qualified. I’ll play for half of Linville’s rate. I love running for my life on every play. [Checks notes]. What is a check down?

If a QB isn’t there at 8... Slater is your pick
bythenbrs replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
You already know the answer. Say it with me, 'Build the offensive line.' Here's another phrase to embrace; say it with me now, 'If we build it, he (quality future FA QB) will come." My work here is now complete... -
We may see four QB’s taken in the first 8 picks. What are the realistic scenarios where Sewell is still on the board at 8? If he is, I think you have to take him. But what if Trey and Sewell are both still on the board at 8? Teams don’t get to choose in this draft position often and when you do, you can’t afford to whiff. Sewell looks like a high probability, long term solution at a position where we perennially have a dumpster fire. Trey may be a future franchise QB but at draft time, he is still developmental. There is some level of risk. You may whiff. Choose Sewell.

Let me try. CMC’s injury wasn’t the disaster some feared. Teddy’s inadequacies were exposed. We moved up in draft order. CMC’s injury saved another year of wear and extended his career. We went cheap in signing Teddy Checkdown because we resigned CMC to a massive contract extension. Draft Mac Jones. Did I get it all?

The SB showed us about having a solid O-line

Ouch! Brutal but true... -
Perhaps not character but businesses do look for emotional intelligence, the ability to communicate effectively, poise under duress, etc., all things that can be revealed when watching a prospective employee speaking publicly. They are valid 'tells' and part of the overall evaluation process. Will not make up for a limp arm or lousy wonderlic test.
