Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced
bythenbrs replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
This will not be popular with some but, I think we need to move Chinn for draft capital or a player. What other team needs a Kam Chancelor type SS? -

Red raspberry is 1B but, I digress -
I think we need to move Chinn for a player or draft capital. He seems like a man without a country in the new 3-4, cover 2. What a shame. Any team come to mind that needs a good Kam Chancelor type SS?

Transactionally, we gave up two firsts but received one back. Incrementally, we gave up one additional first. But I quibble... -

Cap management and cap casualty. Happens when your contract is disproportionate to your on field performance. Nothing against him as a player. Nice guy. Team Captain. I blame Hurney, not Shaq. That said, team has to create some cap space. Bears have cap space in abundance, Shaq becomes a starting LB for the Bears. It’s just business.

We’re the Panthers. It’s what we do.

Lamar was playing for free? Who knew? Poppycock. He was under contract and cashing the checks weekly. He was being paid. He owed 'performance' under the contract to the team that was paying him, and a moral obligation to his teammates to not 'mail it in'. Anyone who deals with contracts understands the 'performance' obligation. Look it up. And thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

No incentive? How about 1) you're being paid to play unless you are truly injured, which, if true, is tantamount to theft; it can also be prosecuted as compensation fraud if provable, 2) personal integrity. I'll admit that I'm old school and, apparently, honesty and integrity are no longer virtues and now considered passe'. No wonder teams won't touch him. He's destroyed his own brand.
