Luck may include being drafted by a team with good coaching and system (right place, right time), not getting seriously injured, talented roster with all the pieces in place on O and D, and then the universe smiles upon you, sprinkles you with fairy dust (masculine scent of course) and you get all the right calls and breaks. Who can explain it?

Curious how big you see the talent gap between Hooker and 'the four'. Do you see a major talent gap or are you more on his age and ACL injury?

I’ll grant you both points, though I’m not sure that any of ‘the four’ will be ready to start the first game of the regular season, unless you subscribe to the ‘throw ‘em into the deep end of the pool and make them swim’ theory. I think you can still get two contracts out of Hooker before the team needs to move on to someone else. If you take Hooker at the bottom of R1, you could get five years out of that first contract. All speculation on my part but, until the draft, what else do we have to do?

LaPorta for sure but, that one handed catch by Washington on the corner route at the combine gave me the ‘tingles’. Would be thrilled with either and LaPorta should be available at 39. Question is, how do we wrangle both LaPorta and Uzo? I want them both.

Here’s a thought experiment: A. What if the new administration thinks more highly of Hooker than most of the draft experts here on the Huddle? Not that Hooker is better than any of ‘the four’, but that the gap between Hooker and ‘the four’ is not as great as many here perceive? B. What if the new staff believes Hooker is actually less risk per unit of draft capital invested?
