Mayfield reminds me a lot of Delhomme. He's more athletically gifted and talented, and Delhomme was more...diplomatic (off the field, anyway) but there are definitely some similarities in their personas and playing styles.

I kinda get the impression that particular target was already there.

He was with the Jaguars for Shenault's rookie season. Most likely, McAdoo believes they can use him in some fashion.
