Speaking as someone who hasn't necessarily followed Ebron's career that closely, did he ever actually live up to his hype? What I've read about him gives me the impression he hasn't.

Here's the exact quote... Ppl poo on Tommy Wiseu for "The Room" and how bad it is.. But I got to give credit for the guy still making money off the worst movie ever made... They actually have nights still in movie theaters where ppl travel and pay to watch it.. So while you "think" you know this person and that person isn't good at something.. The fact that they've done it and got paid for it gives them more credibility then you.. So within this paragraph, there's an argument that someone can be considered good at something because they made money doing it, as well as the notion that you need to be an expert in that same field to know when someone does something poorly. Both of those are really dumb arguments. I only addressed the first because frankly, I found that sufficient. Now I've addressed both. And also, thanks to the posts from guys like Wow and others, we're back to wasting time talking about the people doing the posting rather than the actual topic, just like what pissed off our mod @rayzoryesterday. Sheesh

Pretty much... Matt Rhule's decision making has led us to pretty sad results. It'd be pretty hard to argue otherwise. That doesn't mean every single decision he's made was bad anymore than every playcall in a losing effort needing to be a terrible choice. But when there are enough of them that you consistently don't get the results you want, well... Can he get better? It's possible. Likewise, the aforementioned Sam Darnold could suddenly become a great quarterback and lead us to multiple victories. A lot of us just don't see either of those things happening. And logically, why should we?

Setting aside the personal stuff, here's the thing... Darnold doesn't have to be a better quarterback than me. he needs to be better than Baker Mayfield. Rhule doesn't need to be better coach than me. he needs to be better than Bill Belichick...or whomever else we happen to be facing this week. Marty Hurney doesn't need to be a better GM than me. he needs to be better than whoever the Commanders are facing this season. We've been over the whole "they're professionals so they know more than you" suggestion numerous times on this board, and it's always been found to be a silly argument for reasons like those stated above. Being smarter than me or any other random fan is a pretty low bar to clear.

Pretty sure I've been critical of moves made by every coach the Panthers have had to this point, so not sure where you're getting your ideas there. As far as the "side note", using that logic, Sam Darnold must be one hell of a great quarterback

I watched that game amongst a group of Cowboy fans. Didn't act like an a--hole for even a single second. No, really!

They did. It's because of that game that I will forever remember the voice of Bill Rosinski screaming "TOUCHDOWN, RICKY PROEHL!!!"

My best buddy and I have known each other since we were three years old. Over the course of our fifty-plus year friendship, we've hugged four times... When my mother died... When he made a life changing decision... When his father died... ...and when Michael Vick fumbled against WVU, allowing the Mountaineers to get the ball and take the lead over Virginia Tech. (Lady Cowboy Fan makes fun of me a lot over this)

And likely could have had one, had they not agreed to negotiate the penalty with him. Hell, if not for the public outcry, I wouldn't have been surprised to see them accept the six game recommendation that Robinson handed down. But once the backlash happened, all of a sudden it was "well, we are just appalled at this" That's the part I find really stupid, and frankly hypocritical.

I was actually at work in a cable office. Down the row from me sat a huge Rams fan. Lucky for us, they were showing the game on a bunch of big monitors. You could judge what was happening in the game by watching the two of us. He'd jump up, then I'd jump up, back and forth until it was over. When it finally was, I clocked out to go to the bathroom and catch my breath. I think he might have too

The league bent itself into more positions than a contortionist trying to look like they were being tough on him while not actually being anywhere near as tough as they should have been. Not sure whether women's groups will give them a pass on this. Honestly, I'll laugh if they don't.

I know for some the answer might be along the lines of "in preschool" (perhaps even "not yet born" for a few) but for those of us old enough and lucky enough to have watched arguably the greatest moment in Panthers history happen live; where were you. who were you with, what did you do, etc. Tell your X-Clown story...

Breer's long been one of the few analysts more likely to take a positive view of Carolina. I think maybe he just tries to keep an even keel.

I wouldn't know how to direct a major motion picture, but that doesn't stop me from understanding that Tommy Wisesu is terrible at it. Likewise, while I wouldn't be qualified to be an NFL head coach, that doesn't mean I can't recognize that Matt Rhule isn't either. (frankly, I'm probably a lot better at judging bad football than I am bad movies) Ask yourself this question: Why was Joe Brady fired? The answer of course is that he was neither qualified nor ready to take on the role of an NFL offensive coordinator. I look at the resumés of other, more successful OCs helps in understanding that. In the same way, looking at Matt Rhule's career path helps shed light on his qualifications. Combine that with a review of his results, especially if you've actually watched the games, and it's really not that hard a thing to figure out.

Breer predicted we'd be in the playoffs last season. Pretty sure he was the only national analyst to do so.

Still can't help but wonder what happened with the whole "keep pounding" thing last year. The good news is the team seems to have understood the backlash to those stories well enough that they've corrected.
