  1. Before signing Andy Dalton, the Bears made a big pitch to Seattle for Russell Wilson. The Seahawks declined. Details of the offer itself are now out. According to Dan Patrick, Chicago offered three first-round picks, a third-round pick, and two unnamed starters for Wilson. The Seahawks, obviously, passed. Link
  2. Gantt invokes Trubisky's name... No, it doesn't mean anything. Mike Garafolo did mention that Trubisky is "weighing his options" and will likely be looking for a team that runs a WCO type scheme like we do, but didn't specifically mention the Panthers as one of those options.
  3. It was Chris, not Phil. Oops...wrong thread
  4. That being part of the Steelers ownership group doesn't guarantee good football decision making skills. Haslam did some incredibly stupid things after taking over the Browns.
  5. Jim Haslam was part of the Steelers ownership group for a while too.
  6. An NFL investigation would indeed have the lowest bar to clear. It just has to be "believable".
  7. Rich doesn't necessarily equal football smart. Guys like Snyder, Jones, Haslam and many others prove that. If the proverbial room consists of Tepper, Fitterer and Rhule, the guy with the least amount of football smarts in the room is Tepper. The last thing any of us should want is the least smart guy in the room dictating decisions over the two smarter guys.
  8. Big reason why it's not a criminal case... Well, that plus the fact that I don't know if you could technically even say a crime was committed here given the story.
  9. Word was that Rasul Douglas has a fair amount of interest outside the Panthers. Doesn't sound like he'll be back.
  10. Claimed to have filed a lawsuit, but now hasn't actually filed anything? Oy
  11. Three first rounders, a second rounder plus Burns and Brown? Yikes!
  12. He definitely comes off like a colossal douche. That doesn't necessarily mean the accusation is false of course, but it doesn't really help things.
  13. My understanding is he was a neighbor of Bob McNair before he died, not Cal, though I've seen some speculation that Buzbee may have exaggerated that himself. There was a story that he bought billboards trying to encourage Bob to draft Johnny Manziel. Not sure why you have to resort to buying billboards if you've actually got an inside connection with the guy.
  14. Actually it's more of a chuckle at your dumb post The idea that I'd be sad if we got Deshaun Watson is pretty stupid.
  15. The rumor actually came from Michael Lombardi, someone who has a lot of legitimate connections but whose reliability on stories like this is...not the greatest. As for Denver, Albright did say they'd be legitimately interested if the Texans changed their mind about not trading him, but he doesn't believe the bit about Watson preferring Denver.
  16. I've felt the same, but was able to get some explanations from a few of the people it happened to. Sad truth is that even for legitimate victims, there are a load of negative repercussions involved in seeking justice. It can permanently alter and/or damage their lives on top of what's already happened. Some would rather just move on. If you're a guy who's seriously angered by injustice, it's tough to take, but obviously nowhere near as difficult as it is for the victims.
  17. You know that old saying about how there are no stupid questions? It's not true.
  18. I've seen stuff like this from a few different angles. It's an unfortunate fact of my life that I've known several women who have been victims of assault. The vast majority did not end up going to the police. Honestly, the closest they came to any kind of justice was one whose brother kicked the guy's ass. I've also known people who have been falsely accused of stuff, though none of that went to the next level either. It was all just pretty much he said / she said type situations with varying results. And one unique bit: Had a friend of mine who I believed was being falsely accused of date rape. Later found out he was pretty much guilty but nothing ended up happening to him (not friends anymore). It's all pretty deep sh-t. Frankly, how this affects his trade prospects shouldn't be anybody's top priority. This is his whole life if anything comes of it.
  19. I have a hard time imagining that. Howe seems to just be kind of toying with some tinfoil hat stuff. The one thing that I've noted before though is that there are Patriot connections in a couple of possible Watson destinations. Caserio was long time colleagues with the 49ers Adam Peters and would also be well appointed with Dolphins coach Brian Flores.
  20. Not shocking. Some guys are as much salesmen as they are lawyers.
  21. I'd want clarification. Specifically, whether it was about four quarterbacks being taken within a certain range or four quarterbacks being taken before we pick. If it's the second, us trading up would significantly alter the scenario.
