Right in that if the NFL could find a way to make rookies receiving their equipment into a prime time event, they would.

I'd be partial to 17 myself (for nostalgia reasons and the fact that I've seen comparisons between him and Delhomme).

Steelers move to second round of GM interviews
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
He didn't turn down the interview though. He does want to be a GM at some point. Ideal scenario would see him be Fitterer's heir apparent... -
No mention of Dan Morgan being included...at least not yet. Doesn't sound like the full list of candidates is out yet though. With all due respect to Dan, I hope he isn't part of the process.

Matt Corral could've went in the first round to the Steelers
Mr. Scot replied to EgoDogg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Eeehhh, not really... There are dozens of players who don't get taken in the rounds where teams had them graded on an annual basis just due to how the boards fall. Basically, it's possible to think someone is worthy of a first-round pick but not take them there because you think someone else is a little better (i.e. Pickett). And of course there's also the factor of need... -
Still 6 on the team site (they'll update later). Ellis is right about this...

Would he still dislike us now that Richardson is gone?

What if Rhule turns out to be a really good just being a coach?
Mr. Scot replied to Fan01's topic in Carolina Panthers
That may not be as hard to find as you think. But assuming the premise is true, I'd point out that you'd also have a hard time finding anyone who would say a bad thing about Marty Hurney. Would you want him back as GM? ("nice guy" doesn't necessarily equal "good at their job") -
Well, that's kind of obvious But I would point out I'm far from alone in this opinion.

"Marty Hurney is the best evaluator of college talent in the league." ---also David Tepper -
One final note from Breer's article... Breer closed this week's space with a sendoff for Kevin Colbert. It consisted of kind words from personnel guys all over the league acquainted with the long time Steelers GM. Here's what Scott Fitterer said: "He’s just a gentleman. He’s humble. He’s hard-working. He’s a scout at heart. He’s what I would think most GMs would aspire to be. He’s got just such a good presence about him. He’s so approachable. He’s a lot like Ted Thompson. Everybody respects him. You can’t find anyone to say a bad word about him. Just an unbelievable person. … The first time I met him, I think it was the Whistle Stop at the combine, like 20 years ago. I think he was with the Lions at the time. And I can say he’s the same guy now as he was 20 years ago, the first time I met with him. … He hasn’t changed a bit. Just an unbelievable person.

Which is kind of why a "flipside" sort of question applies... What happens if the seasoned NFL assistants come to understand they're serving under someone who's not as smart as they are? -
The one thing that is nagging at me about our QB pick...
Mr. Scot replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Simplified route concepts are kind of a thing all over these days because it's gotten kind of hard to find college receivers that run a full route tree. -
Tis true...

I suppose it's possible, but part of the problem right now is that he still coaches like a college coach, and the pro game is a very different animal. Even the world's greatest checkers player isn't necessarily a good chess player.- 77 replies

I'm guessing he was talking about comp picks. Those start in Round 3.
