Madden 22 ranks panthers second worst team in the league
Khyber53 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
We are what they say we are until we prove them otherwise. And it's Madden, not real football. -
Will we see anything out of Kenny Robinson in 2021?
Khyber53 replied to Tommy Jone's topic in Carolina Panthers
Who? -
Sorry, but Phillip Rivers is basically the same guy as Matthew Stafford. Media loves him, everyone says he's great and an asset to any team. Reality says he's an 8-8 QB who somehow survived numerous coaching changes.

No training camp goes on without a fight or two. Let's move along.

Let Moton work at LT some in training camp, let him try it for the first couple of pre-season games. Unless he is playing at Pro Bowl (real Pro Bowl, not just popularity contest pro bowl) level, go back to RT with him. Moton is a fantastic RT, that is a known performance level. If he can't achieve that on the LT side, then you have to put him where he is absolutely the best. Then you put the best LT candidate you have on the left side and scheme to assist them whenever possible.

Panthers Training Camp Thoughts and Musings - Monday Edition
Khyber53 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
It may be that Darnold is one of those Rhule is targetting with that ass-chewing. If Zod is calling him out for holding onto the ball too long, you know the coaches have seen it and discussed it at length among their meetings. This was a reclamation project at QB. It's going to take more than a spot of paint and some landscaping to make him viable again. Hope Rhule can get Darnold repaired before September. -
I think we may be looking for someone during camp cuts. The loss of Walker and/or Grier won't be hard to recover from. There's going to be a smart young kid that ends up on the wrong side of some team's math and hopefully we'll grab him. Walker and Grier offer us nothing either as relief pitchers or for the future.

Two or Three QBs, what difference does it make?
Khyber53 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Let's take a hard look at our QB room. Honestly, we have three backups in there between Darnold, Walker and Grier. And chances are good that two of them really aren't the quality you need to hold a clipboard and be ready to come into a game and not lose it after the starting QB is injured. I know, I put Darnold in there. Right now, his performance with the Jets would have him headed to the pool of back-up QB candidates in most seasons. We're taking a flier on him that he can be coached back up, but until we get a couple of games into the season, that's still a crap shoot. We're hoping we find a Favre or Brees needing a new home, but honestly its just as likely we have a Rosen or Colt McCoy on our hands. I hope he'll be good or even great, but chances aren't good for QB flops in their second home. Walker and Grier aren't cusp players, they are cusp pros. They are just hanging on to the possibility of being in an NFL uniform much less actually playing in a game. If you have to send one of these guys into a game, pray the defense can somehow run out the clock. If you have to start one of them for any period of time, it's time to look at the next draft class while possibly polishing up the coaching resumes. This isn't a great situation going into the season. Maybe it will work out. Hope so. -
It's the Internet. Hot takes only for most people and if you can dis on someone, the cooler you think it makes you.

Fit talking to "2 or 3 players" about extensions
Khyber53 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Moore for certain. Anderson, I wouldn't negotiate that until we see if that wasn't a flash in the pan last year. After week 5, Robby didn't post a single 100-yard game and really only 3 over 50 yards. True, this was one of his only 16 game seasons, but either he ran out of gas as the season went on, or teams figured out how to jam him up. Sometime around week 12 we should know what the story is there. Donte... yeah, let's get some more games under his belt. He improved a lot last year, and once again, we need a better view of whether that was the ceiling or just the beginning of something better. Burns, yeah, we need to get that extension signed sooner rather than later. I believe this will be his break out year. -
What's the worst case scenario with Sam Darnold this year?
Khyber53 replied to 1of10Charnatives's topic in Carolina Panthers
Worst case scenario for Darnold is that he plays a bit under mediocre but the team has a winning season on the strength of the running game and a stout defense. We get a playoff spot and an early exit, then pick in the last third of the draft. Worst case scenario is he turns us into the Bears, a decent team with lousy QBing, bad placement in the draft and a coach that no one believes in anymore. Me, I'm hoping this becomes a redemption story for the ages and Darnold comes in and shines. -
Xavien Howard requests trade
Khyber53 replied to Your GFs favorite huddler's topic in Carolina Panthers
As much as an experienced decent corner is intriguing, this is probably 100% right. Let's stay the course and keep the money in reserve. I hope we don't need to, but there may be a chance we need to grab a QB. -
Texans now indicate Deshaun Watson is available for trade
Khyber53 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good, I don't envision it either. Kinda have a nightmare about us doing it, but hopefully wiser heads in the front office will keep us out of this trouble. -
Texans now indicate Deshaun Watson is available for trade
Khyber53 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
If it pans out that way, it would probably be better to ride out the season (again) and take a QB early in the draft rather than pay big for a guy who could conceivably not be allowed to play football again. The allegations against Watson, if true, are terrible and should result in him being banned from the sport. In such a case, the team trading for him would be out the draft picks, the opportunities they would have created AND very likely be sitting on contracted dead money against the cap for years to come. Yeah, let someone else take a chance on that. -
Moton or Samuel.... would you change who got Tepper's bag?
Khyber53 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
In the end, we could have had both looking at how the CAP money worked out. We could have had a second round pick used elsewhere than at WR and the replacement for Robby Anderson on staff and experienced going into 2022. They were just figuring out how to use Samuel in the last half of last season. Having him and CMC out there together this season would have been murder on opposing defenses if Darnold plays well. But, there's no use crying over spilt milk. -
Texans now indicate Deshaun Watson is available for trade
Khyber53 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
What exactly has changed with Watson since his career became a dumpster fire (even if it may be a temporary one)? Nothing except he reported to training camp. The situation hasn't gotten better. The price hasn't come down. We've moved on and rolled our dice. Let's keep moving forward and quit rubber-necking that accident scene. -
Let's not let that money burn a hole in our pocket right now. There may be some serious needs coming up and there's always a chance a trade might be available wherein we need a few extra bucks stashed away. And carrying most of it over to next year isn't the worst idea.

I hate to say it, but 7-10 is how I'm seeing it at the moment. Darnold is too big of a question right now and I've got to see major improvement in the defense before I think Snow can handle the job. O-line is still a big question mark. The only honest to goodness improvement I can see over last year and bank on, is that CMC will be back. He can make a huge difference and that gets them two more wins over last season's total. I sure hope I am wrong about this, though.

The worst with a clean pocket, the worst in the red zone…

Obvious axe to grind. Let's revisit this in week 6. By then we'll know if OP is right or not. You've got to let the dice roll before you see what comes up. Could be a nat 20, could be a 1. -
Honestly, with some of the predictions I've heard, we'll be in lockdown again by mid-November. If you're planning on attending a game, you'd better make it early in the season.

Rumor: Hill to Start over Wintson Week 1
Khyber53 replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Meh, neither one is Brees. The drop off in New Orleans production could be epic.
