  1. Okay, let's make those final predictions for the Carolina Panthers 2023 draft. Who do you think we'll be taking? First Round: Pick 1: Bryce Young, QB Alabama Second Round: Pick 39 Mazi Smith, DT Michigan Third Round: Pick 93 Brenton Strange, TE, Penn State Fourth Round: Pick 114 Byron Young, Edge, Tennessee Fourth Round: Pick 132 AT Perry, WR, Wake Forest Fifth Round: Pick 145 Dorian Williams, LB, Tulane Honestly, though, I can see us trying to trade back into the second round.
  2. Reminds me of the old days when the NFCSouth had four great QBs competing and a new division winner each season. It was crazy but never ever boring.
  3. 36 more hours and we can put this part of it behind us. Speculation and the constant picking of the unknown scab will be replaced by actually grounded complaining and whining. It's all going to be okay.
  4. Both teams could end up taking a nose dive after this.
  5. Let's see for 2022 they posted $28.31 billion in gross profits, an increase of 27 percent over 2021, which was a tough year for everyone. But even during the pandemic shut down year of 2021, they still posted more than $22 billion in gross profits, a 3.6 percent increase from the previous year. 2020 did see a decline from 2019's gross profits dropping 21.92 percent, but still posting in$21.5 billion in gross profits for the year. Not sure where you think there are some poor decisions they've been making. Heck, we should all be having such terrible luck.
  6. I don't think Carter will be there in the fifth. I still say we'll go DT with Mazi Smith in round 2, grab a TE in the third with Tucker Kraft, Edge DJ Johnson in the fourth, Emil Ekiyor out of Alabama in the fifth.
  7. Disney is planning something very big for next year and is clearing the decks to create cash now.
  8. It's going to be Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan. He'll be a wrecker in a 3-4 defense.
  9. We didn't ship DJ to Chicago to trade down. We're making pick #1. The question for us is who we are taking at #39.
  10. I can't wait until the draft has happened and we can move on.
  11. We live in an age where people are considered believable because they have successfully signed up for and maintained a Twitter account. Never in history has the bar been set so low for "reliable sources."
  12. A lot of people are heroes on high school or college and never move beyond that. Some of them get trophies for it. Some people see even greater success afterwards. That's just how the world works and the trophies we've won become less important the further we go in life.
  13. Miles got a fairly inexpensive deal with us. And it could be a bargain if we got Double Trouble type production back there again...
  14. Honestly, if we do take Bryce Young, I can see us taking a page from the Jaguars book and picking up the very talented running back that was in the backfield with Young, much like the safety blanket pick of Travis Etienne was for Trevor Lawrence -- one that paid dividends once coaching was improved. Jahmyr Gibbs out of Alabama is a fantastic running back and was a reliable protector, receiver and rusher alongside Bryce. Considering the way the draft seems to be falling out and the lack of interest in running backs, Gibbs could certainly be sitting there at 39 and I think would be a good return on the investment. Anything that makes the transition easier for Young will help everyone out.
  15. What happens with Houston doesn't affect us in the least. Their pick goes their way and ours is ours. The two teams rarely play and the likelihood of a Superb Owl appearance pitting these two teams and QBs against each other is minimal. If Houston passes on QB at this level, odds on favorites to trade up to get Stroud would be Indianapolis and Tennessee, two more teams that we would almost never face and likely wouldn't in a Super Bowl. Stroud won't make it past the fourth, maybe the third, pick in the draft even if Houston passes. It's not a long term concern of ours, no matter how you do the math. That being said, I believe the NFC South and AFC South will go head to head in games for 2023, so there is a bit of a head to head potential there, but both QBs will be in their rookie season and one or both could conceivably still be sitting on the bench taking mental reps at that time.
  16. And while we've got 99 problems, a QB ain't one of them anymore.
  17. A good agent is also your representative and takes a protective role for their client in negotiations and legal matters. This is a huge financial event for most homeowners (whether they are buyers and sellers). There are so many legal ramifications in the event that far exceed just a transactional sale of an item that you need someone who is knowledgeable about all of the proceedings and requirements just to make sure you don't make some kind of dire mistake or that you don't get screwed along the way. Everyone complains about commission rates being paid, but that big chunk of money is split generally four ways between the listing and buying agents and the listing and buying brokers. All of these individuals or companies are providing a vital service from contracts, negotiations, listings, tax issues, filings and even escrow of the downpayments and purchase monies prior to the transaction being completed. It is money that is necessary to be spent and in the cases of good Realtors it is money well spent.
  18. He's taller than Steve Smith, Sr. and that guy kinda worked out for us I'd say.
  19. One of my thoughts is that they have a second rookie QB out there that they want and perhaps think will be available way late or as UDFA. There are some really good options out there in the "who the heck are they" lists. Personally, I think you're going to see at least one day two or three QB pull a Brock Purdy and prove to be something pretty cool. My bet is that it is Max Dugan from TCU. Not saying he's be in my top 3 choices (Young, Stroud, Hooker) but he could be a gamer out there for someone.
  20. There's quite a bit of truth to this. It's not like our vet QB or the third stringer we are trying to trade have any experience in this coach's system yet either. Although, I really do want to see them put Matt Corral out there during the pre-season and give him some reps with the first team in a game. Maybe he'll be good, maybe he won't, but we'd be doing the kid a solid either way and help him to find a home. This situation wasn't his fault at all.
  21. Honestly, I agree with you here. Trying to get too cutesy or clever usually ends up badly. Just make the picks as we have them. Maybe trade up later on if there is a hidden gem sitting there about to get plucked away. No more trading down. We don't need quantity, we need quality.
  22. You can't have enough good offensive linemen. We've had too few before and we never want to be there again.
