  1. I wanted him back for that last year because I wanted to believe he wasn't done. The truth is, it wouldn't have helped him much nor would it have helped us much. But, like you said, the decision was amplified by the bad Teddy contract and then the trade/5th year option for Sam fuging Darnold. Hindsight is always tough but it wasn't that hard to not make the bad decisions that we DID make. That is what ended up being so upsetting.
  2. I am assuming this is the 18 month IR?
  3. Unlikely hypothetical but if he is just out there crushing it and commanding the offense, you gotta keep playing the hot hand. But, if we do see that, the questions about the staff's ability to evaluate that position get even louder. You had most of the season you could have started him and didn't. I think after Sunday most will see why he HASN'T been playing and it will anger fans more that he is even on the roster at all.
  4. I think the thing missing most is that Gase wasn't even the OC for Darnold's entire career. One of the 4 Rush guys has repeatedly said something that I agree with. All the discussions around Sam Darnold revolve around excuses why he isn't successful. Bad coaching, bad OL, no weapons, still learning, mono, injuries, etc. Yet, all his flaws he had at USC up until now are still there. Bad turnovers, bad decisions, inability to read the field. That stuff has ALWAYS BEEN PRESENT. So how is it our "braintrust" thought they could see something that was so apparent after so much film and so little improvement? As a friend of mine once quipped, "Potential just means you haven't done poo, yet." Well here we sit almost 4 years into not doing poo. That idea of potential had long since evaporated. I shudder to think about these guys picking QB or OL in the draft. They really don't seem to have any idea what they are doing.

  6. I mean...given the specific situation, it was a little odd.
  7. poo...told me??? I for sure believe that the WR corps is much happier now.
  8. To an extent, I agree. However, he has been scheming dudes open too. Imagine Cam just hitting open WR's from the pocket. What if that happens instead?
  9. Well, our IOL was much stronger when Cam was here(Kalil for instance). It has actually taken a dive from when he was here last.
  10. I would actually like to see us NOT change our offense any to see how much lies on the scheme. We don't have much to lose, see how Brady's scheme looks under QB #4. If it has the same issues as Teddy, PJ and Darnold.....bye bye Joe.
  11. CJ is a TBD because he was fairly cheap. Very well could turn into a bust but perhaps he pans out to be a solid starting caliber CB even if he isn't elite. If so, it was a good pick up. I am not gonna jump off the cliff QUITE yet on Henderson because he doesn't have 3 years of bad film like Darnold did.
  12. Robby's "attitude?" You do realize he has basically been the only one showing any real emotion when the offense isn't playing well, right? So, you would rather get rid of the guy that isn't just sitting down and taking it? That's like saying you would want to dump Cam or Steve Smith because they have an "attitude" problem on the sidelines. I can understand the frustration with his performances but not the shots at his "attitude."
  13. He has actually not retired. He just won't play unless he gets the money he thinks he deserves. My guess is that is a price no one in the NFL is willing to pay.
  14. I don't think he probably will ever be the same, sadly. But we will see flashes and it will be Cam. After all we have been through at that position since unceremoniously dumping him in the dustbin, that's enough.
  15. Imagine how much easier the Darnold pill would be have been to swallow for a 4th and 6th with no 5th year option?
  16. Seeing more and more projections with Howell not in the first round. I would not be adverse to trade up some 2023 draft capital(not the 1st) to snag him in the 2nd, potentially.
  17. Having a high draft pick might have made sense in 2020 because of the strength of that QB class(not that it mattered because we had a chance and passed on two of them). This class is not that way. If you want a QB of relatively the same quality, they should be available for the first two rounds(at least). We might miss out on other elite prospects in the top 10(or we still might end up with a top 10 pick) but the odds of us losing out were a little bit of a longshot, regardless. As long as we have a 1st round pick, we should be able to snag a starting caliber player, regardless of where it is. Especially with our main needs being QB and OL.
