  1. I honestly hope he doesn't because that would probably mean we are using him like Rivera did. The price tag indicates that we NEED to but I also don't want to be seeing him get another 375+ touches again. That isn't a recipe for offensive success, IMO. But we are also wildly speculating with almost no idea what our offense is going to look like in 2021. I think he could have played the last two games of the year but there was no reason. If he was down to him having to play through a fresh high ankle sprain or AC injury, it would have to be a pretty meaningful game. I'm not even sure a wild card game is worth that. It does depend on the scenario, though. Obviously if we are talking Conference championship or Super Owl, you leave it all out on the field.
  2. They are pretty comparable through their first three years. Cam: 11299 passing yards, 64 passing TD's, 1447 rushing yards, 22 rushing TD's Josh Allen: 9707 passing yards, 67 passing TD's, 1562 rushing yards, 25 rushing TD's The truth is, however, Allen accumulated a very large chunk of his passing stats this past season(37 of his 67 TD passes, 4544 of his 9707 passing yards). Cam was much more consistent early in his career than Allen was. So we will see if that was a Wentz-like aberration or if he has ascended to elite status.
  3. The Pass Block Win Rate tells some more of that story. Let's also be completely honest, Cam is always going to tend to get sacked more because he tends to try to make bigger plays. That does force the OL to block for longer(reference his 27th ranked Time To Throw). That is also a criticism you can throw at quite a few of these modern scramblers(Russell Wilson comes to mind).
  4. I do question how big the Watson package would be to the Jets or Dolphins. If we are to believe that the 2nd or 3rd overall pick in this draft is worth at least another 1st round draft pick and additional picks(I have seen it mocked as much as for two firsts), it seems to me like I wouldn't be particularly eager to just give that up so willingly with another two firsts and other picks stacked on top of it. After all, if you just trade down in the draft, you could also potentially gain a fuging haul.
  5. True. He will never be looking at a franchise tag the rest of his career. Nor will he ever be looking at top RB money again. Hurney got us. It sucks for the Carolina Panthers but CMC will make out like a bandit, no doubt about it.
  6. Three first rounders make me cringe for a stud like Watson. Dak Prescott is not Deshaun Watson. I will give credit for making me laugh audibly at the "identify the most god-fearing QB for Cal McNair." That was a genius comment.
  7. He was also throwing the the best WR corps in team history and produced the 6th lowest TD% in team history only behind Kerry Collins(1997), Chris Weinke(2001), Vinny Testaverde(2007), Jake Delhomme(2009), and Jimmy Clausen(2010). And this is while throwing for the 6th most yards in Panthers history. Now, take a good look at those seasons I mentioned because they were all awful QB performances that ended up with every one of those QB's being off the team afterwards(although Testaverde was a band-aid, anyway). In fact the most yardage thrown in one of those performances on that list was the 2124 yards by Kerry Collins in 1997. He didn't even turn out to be a game manager, he turned out to be a backup. Which, we should have known this after the Jets traded him to keep Darnold and a 39 year old Josh McCown and the Saints chose to pay Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston over keeping Teddy.
  8. Nah, style of play is a big factor in both of those guys. Wilson is pretty good at avoiding big hits, Cam relished the opportunity to truck you. The way Cam played the game did contribute to his injuries. But, it's also what made him such a spectacle and one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in NFL history.
  9. New England was 13th in Pass Block Win Rate and 10th in Run Block Win Rate in 2020. The Panthers were 23rd in Pass Block Win Rate and 7th in Run Block Win Rate in 2020. Teddy's Time To Throw was 2.6 seconds(11th in the NFL) and Cam's was 2.84 seconds(27th in the NFL). Pat's allowed 37 sacks, Panthers allowed 36 sacks. Cam's average PocketTime(PFR stat for amount of time before pocked collapses or the ball is thrown) was 2.6 seconds, Teddy's was 2.3 seconds. New England allowed 48 hurries, Carolina allowed 42 hurries. New England allowed 109 pressures, Carolina allowed 111 pressures. I'd say the scheme probably favored us more than in New England and that our OL was definitely weaker.
  10. That is a HUGE logical leap. It doesn't make any sense for these high round picks to play in those idiotic bowl games unless it is in the playoffs. Those things have forever and ever been completely meaningless. I never blame a single one of those kids for sitting out those bowl games. That is not a good example of him not being a team guy. I think it's possible he would hold out but absolutely no chance of that happening during his rookie deal. He really has almost nothing to gain by doing that. If he gets tagged, sure, I can see that.
  11. Physical limitations can definitely be referring to arm. I think that is what the gist of it was.
  12. I wasn't really worried about the holding out an much as some of the fanbase was. If he is holding out with 2 years remaining on his rookie deal(which already had him as a top 10 paid back), I start shopping him for picks. If he holds out when you tag him, then the tough choices have to be made.
  13. I don't think they mean specifically athletically, although it is certainly a big part of the modern NFL. Stafford also has an elite arm, which is something Teddy absolutely doesn't have. That is the big boost from Teddy. Stafford has great intangibles and has an elite arm.
  14. Well we offered a 1st and 5th for him, reportedly. I'd say we viewed him pretty highly.
  15. Parsons is classic Panthers bad draft pick. I like Slater if he is available, although I would prefer Sewell.
  16. Trask is an upgrade at #2 but not much else. If we don't like Teddy, we definitely aren't going to like Trask.
  17. Well if we looked at Watson and Stafford but not Wentz....that gives me some hope they know what they are doing.
  18. It may cost almost that price to move up if the speculation is accurate.
  19. Well Teddy is a 3 on a 10 point QB scale, so that makes trips.
  20. Wait until you see the deal with sign Alex Armah to.
  21. Agreed. It is definitely one of the least informed hot takes I have seen.
  22. He's tradeable in any Watson scenario. Hell, someone offer up two first round draft picks, I'd trade him for that. In most other scenarios the greater harm is to us. I also can't fathom King's choice of players. It seems so heavily weighted in our favor that it doesn't seem logical.
  23. I have been using it for years. I need to add it to Urban Dictionary.
  24. He didn't establish him being "untradeable" he just alluded to what many people already knew, which was trading him entails a large chunk of dead cap this offseason. In the deal King proposed(which is actually fairly ridiculous, IMO) we would actually end up with more cap space free, not less.
