  1. The choked out explanation is completely ridiculous. Go try and choke someone out in .5-1 seconds.
  2. He did have Antonio Gates and Keenan Allen. Certainly not the WR corps that Big Ben had but he has definitely had some talent around him. That is what always made San Diego such an interesting case, it wasn't for lack of talent the franchise consistently fails. It's because it's a poorly run organization.
  3. Eh, trading him to move up in the draft I am not sure I would be willing to do. That's one of those you have to be REALLY sure that you are getting "The Guy." If you end up trading a top 2-3 RB in the NFL for a bust QB........that is a hard one to ever live down as a GM and/or GM/coach. I definitely wouldn't want to trade CMC away for nickels or a gamble but for an established elite QB, I wouldn't hesitate even for a fraction of a second.
  4. I mean....fair point but there really aren't a lot of great cases of a QB "carrying" a team to the Super Bowl. The one that definitely sticks out would be 2015 Cam, right? That was largely the greatness of him that season that propelled us to those heights. It isn't like his supporting offensive cast was much.
  5. I mean, Rivers had a lot of great talent in San Diego so I don't know that I would agree that his supporting cast was always inferior. That is why I referenced them squandering so many HOF careers. I fear we will see similar with Justin Herbert. I think Rivers and Big Ben are close, each with some positives and negatives to support their cases for being better.
  6. Eh......it's hard to discount Big Ben's accomplishments. Ben was a top 10 QB in the league for a long time, as well. Perhaps he gets a little bit of a "Steelers bump" but even playing on a great franchise, it isn't like he hasn't been instrumental in their success. Hell, look at their lack of success when he was injured.
  7. A simple Google search would have revealed this to be inaccurate. Where did you get your info for that? Facebook meme?
  8. They likely wouldn't have made the playoffs with the rest of their roster of QB's. Remember, they already tried that. QB driven league, remember. Rivers was the only top QB they have had since the remnants of what used to be Andrew Luck left. That's actually the saddest part about the Indy situation, they built a great team around him but he couldn't hold up to take advantage of it. I would be really upset as a Colts fan.
  9. He didn't pay himself that money. I don't blame any of the players on the team for taking the money they did. Blame the franchise or Hurney or whoever for bungling so many deals. I'll never blame a player for getting the most they can get for themselves.
  10. Yep.....I defended him all offseason and boy was I wrong. He is definitely done.
  11. poo, Rivers isn't the only HOF caliber talent that franchise has squandered. They were the Panthers before we existed.
  12. Yeah. Rivers was really fun to watch with his incessant-yet-somehow clean trash talking and gunslinger style. The kind of guy you hate to play against and love to have on your team(except when he is making Favre-esque crippling INT's). Not many gunslingers left in the league now.
  13. I still remember the Jeff Lewis hype and how Denver was supposedly upset we got him away. Heir apparent to Elway....yada yada yada......and then to watch a man scramble around aimlessly at the snap of the ball..... It was amazing.
  14. Holy punctuation, Batman. Once you read this about 5 times it starts to make sense. And then you realize how much dumb is packed into it. Impressive.
  15. I really don't understand how this could be a remotely controversial take. Does anyone think Taints fans would turn down Deshaun Watson for Alvin Kamara? Vikings fans turn down Watson for Dalvin Cook? It sort of boggles the mind that people cannot simply watch actual NFL games and visibly witness what is not even a remotely new thing in the league......QB's are the most critical component to your success in the NFL. The thing that is so perplexing is that this is literally regarded as COMMON KNOWLEDGE in the NFL.....so how in the world is it missing some of our fans completely?? Do we have hundreds of Hurney children logged on??
  16. Well the justification is probably irrelevant at this point. We are in the classic John Fox, "It is what it is" scenario. I don't think it makes a lot of sense at this juncture of his career(especially at the cost) to be making a position change. He is being paid like a feature back so we should utilize him as a feature of the offense when necessary. I would prefer his overall touches are reduced because we have more weapons to utilize in the offense in general. It remains to be seen if that will be the case. I just hope this spell of injuries is not the classic post-high usage rate year drop off.
  17. I would hope Houston would laugh us out of the building with that offer.
  18. So he is the classic middle manager. That explains a lot.
  19. I generally disagree about that. I don't think he would be that successful. In fact, I remember reading an article around the time we signed him where they specifically did an analysis of him in slot and wide sets and his production was significantly lower and IIRC would have placed him in the bottom 10% of the WR's in the NFL for the time period they chose. I can't remember where I found that article, unfortunately or I would be happy to link it. I think Panthers fans get too attached to his skills as a WR when in fact he isn't terribly different than a guy like Kamara or LT or Faulk. I cannot recall a specific example of a top RB being switched to slot WR or WR in general and becoming a top 20-30 player. If you have one, I'd be interested to check it out. That's kind of my point, we aren't being realistic about his value as a WR. It's likely tremendously lower than what we believe it to be. If you asked me straight up to take a slot WR/hybrid player and gave me CMC or Curtis Samuel....I am taking Samuel 100 out of 100 times. Same thing if you ask me about a pass catching RB, I'm taking CMC 100 out of 100.
