  1. The problem with Minshew is that he is on a very, very cheap deal and so the Jags aren't going to be likely to want to get rid of a cheap and effective backup unless we pony up something worth their while. He isn't exactly a money suck on their cap. Darnold is similar but he also leaves the Jets with $5 mil in dead cap for trading him. Hurts is the same situation. Adds(although small) dead cap for the Eagles for the next three years and is a very cheap and capable backup. If the Jets don't land Watson, I would honestly draft a QB at #3. Go into camp with a competition and if Darnold is clearly the guy, you have a good backup option that you just drafted. If Darnold gets beat out by the rookie, now you have a trade chip. Maybe send Teddy back to NY for Darnold(obviously we give up a bunch of draft picks in this scenario)?
  2. At least I would understand if it was me.
  3. That is the same surprise as waking up to find out someone had poo in your bed and it wasn't you.
  4. Well there are only three spots ahead of them, so I am not sure they have a bunch to worry about. Not unless they really like a specific guy. In that case, they would probably have the best ammo to trade up with the #4 pick. Ryan returning also doesn't mean they may not take a QB, either.
  5. This is definitely a positive for us as far as the draft. Not so sure it is a positive for us overall...
  6. His career stats to this point and Favre's are almost dead even. I did a detailed statistical breakdown of that on here last offseason(I think). The similarity was amazing. The question is, does anyone in the league have the stomach for a QB as erratic as Favre in the modern game?
  7. IDK, they brought him in to save Drew Brees from having to throw a long pass. Like I said, it's a mystery. People crush Winston for that 30 INT year but his INT's were not at a ridiculous level until 2019. Well, he will likely be in a new spot in 2021, so if he ends up relegated to the dustbin of the NFL, I guess we have our answer.
  8. Easily the biggest mystery of the 2020 season. However, I sincerely hope we see them believe Tayim Hibow is the future. My God.....it will be like watching the new Texans.
  9. @Iron Saint Get your ass in here and explain to me what the deal is with The Golden Calf of Bristol 2.0 starting over Jameis Winston. What is the behind the scene story with Winston? How does Sean Payton start fuging Taysom fuging Hill over Winston?? The man started a fuging backup TE over a former NFL starter.
  10. He isn't wrong about this. Lance is relatively inexperienced as a QB. His dad played DB in college and the CFL and it sounds like he had a fairly non-traditional upbringing as a QB. I do like that he has a chip on his shoulder and I like that he learned at an early age how to beat defensive backs but he really is thousands of reps behind. So, even though the linked article talks about what a "natural" he is....he will still be a project because he hasn't been putting in thousands of reps like Lawrence, Fields and Wilson have. That is a real area of concern. The interviews and workouts are going to be huge for him.
  11. I am reticent to trade back unless our LT or CB or even WR options are exhausted, as well. I really, REALLY want to snag one of the top two LT's if we can't land one of these top 4 QB's. You know, I have long been a fan of Winston but I will say that what happened in New Orleans really gave me pause moving forward. I cannot wrap my head around starting a backup TE and special teams player as your starting QB instead of a guy like Winston. Keep in mind, this was the staff that started Teddy Bridgewater over The Golden Calf of Bristol 2.0 in 2019. That really has me scratching my head. I haven't heard anything about why he is relegated to #3 when he is obviously more talented than Tisom Hebow. I just cannot figure that one out. Wish we heard more about why that was the case.
  12. For sure this is a tangent on the OP. Not what I intended. Yeah, I would never dispute that a lot of these athletes are not making wise financial decisions and they are also not living like there is a tomorrow. It's a big problem and some sports(like the NBA) have done a better job over time about making sure the athletes get the proper financial education that can help them avoid some of these potential pitfalls. But, honestly, I don't think big money athletes are really the exception. I think the majority of regular Americans wouldn't build themselves to have generational wealth and they would just adjust their lifestyle to meet their new income level. I see it happen all the time in my personal life working with people.
  13. I don't think that small wager is the core of why NFL players struggle financially. Plenty of regular folks also make small wagers. Would it be better to take that gambling to a professional casino, like a brokerage or hedge fund? Sure. But it is just something they are doing for fun. Same as any person doing a Super Bowl squares event or an NCAA tournament bracket pool or fantasy football or putting money down on a round of golf. It's a logical leap to assume that is a symptom of a bigger financial irresponsibility problem, although it could be.
  14. I mean....listen, I get that but trading the farm for a POTENTIAL franchise QB isn't really logical. I don't know that I see a lot of teams being THAT level of desperate.
  15. Well, Tepper is on record as saying he is learning this process. He's been pretty transparent about that and Matt Rhule has no basis to know whether Marty is a dolt or not. I think if enough voices in the room are pushing to sign Teddy, Rhule probably is okay with the move. In complete fairness, I don't think many of us thought that Teddy would be bad in the way that he ended up being bad. The risk aversion to an extreme level and the late game choking were just head scratching. I am not sure we could have predicted they would be that bad. And that is coming from a guy that absolutely said he was a game manager at best.
  16. Whoa, whoa. It isn't going to cost three 1st round draft picks to trade up in the 2021 draft. That's just crazy talk. I think someone will end up trading up ahead of us for a QB, so we will at least we will have a hindsight comparison on the "what if" Stafford scenario and the trade up price. Should be interesting to see.
  17. Some people on this forum just find random subjects to interject their personal issues. It's fuging weird as hell.
  18. I really think you are just using this story as an excuse to lash out at athletes rather irrationally. It's their money, they did the hard work to achieve the opportunity to make it, and they can do with it as they see fit.
  19. That is just an example of someone seeing $1000 a week and valuing it in "regular people money" not "getting paid millions" money.
  20. I think that is risky for the Bengals. They want a LT and this draft has two supposedly top tier LT's. Not sure I would gamble on missing the other one of them if one does go before #5. I guess it will depend on what we have to offer and how much they want that LT.
