Chinn at FS? Really? Not saying thats good or bad really, but I always saw him more of a thumper, in the box SS. But im sure he would excel no matter where they decide to put him on the field. Hes a superstar waiting to happen.

These teams can ALWAYS free up money if they really want to sign a guy.

Right - its the same thing that happened with Cam. Once the rest of the teams know you're going to release a guy, why would they trade any resources when they could just sign him once hes released?

If we could go out and land a guy like McClain, and Clay from the Bears, our roster would be SET! Unfortunately I don't think we have enough cap to make both of those moves.

I think it depends on how much cash hes looking for. I believe he was making like 6-7 mil a year in Miami, so that might be too rich for our blood at FS. Although this guy would look real good on our D next year.

I just saw on Twitter - then the tweet disappeared, that the Dolphins are releasing starting FS Bobby McClain. Hes a starter and former CB, so it seems like a guy like this would certainly fill a big need with us at FS. Might be worth taking a look....

If Darnold sucks, we will be right back in this same spot next year, looking to upgrade via trade or one of the top QBs in the draft...with plenty of cap space and all our draft picks. IMO, this is hardly a mortgaging of the future, but I see what you are getting at.

Nobody mortgaged the future on Darnold. Mortgaging the future would have been trading 4 first rounders for Watson or to move up in the draft to take a QB.

Looks like Rhule and Co. have the same idea as you. Build a monster defense and an explosive offense with a middle of the pack QB and kill people. I think if Sam ends up in the top half of the league overall next year we're in for a really good season. And 2022 should be when we really start to become a very dangerous team. Like Super Bowl dangerous. That would also follow Rhules progression everywhere else he has been.

Yeah Chuba is not much of a receiving threat.

This guy would be PERFECT for us. We ideally need someone to come in and play LT to start so the BYU guy can get his wits about him and learn the NFL game for a little while.
