100% benched at half. But frankly, you could also argue Dave Canales should have been benched too. That pathetic drive to end the 2nd q is still his. Then the 2nd half happened He is the calling plays. He has total power. They weren’t trying to win or be competitive. Canales management of everything hasn’t been impressive at all. Started with this pointless and wasted preseason opportunities. Everyone in pile on Bryce mode which is fine but our new HC getting off light here IMO
-
Dave Canales literally stood in front of the masses and said Bryce was their guy and starting vs Oakland yesterday. No dancing, hesitation, or leaving a door cracked to tape. so given THAT? I could see team Bryce surprised it came today. Mentally you got at least another week after Dave spoke on it yesterday. I mean I would have benched him sooner. He needed to be benched. But folks are in pile on mode. EVERYONE here was surprised too given what the HC said yesterday
-
I mean, from the standpoint that his HC point blank addressed the topic to the masses yesterday that Bryce is their guy and starting vs the Raiders.....today was in fact out of nowhere.
-
I mean, Stroud, Herbert, Lawerence are all various degrees of functional starting NFL QBs. We need that.

It was Tepper. You take Canales post game talk + Monday meeting + benching = Tepper. Then the fact Canales refuses to comment on what went into it and the convo with Tepper speaks volumes. Because if your owner had nothing to do with it....you EASILY could just say that. But he can't. And isn't. Reading the tea leaves under Tepper has been easy. People just overthink it. which I think is fine. the benching is the right call in reality. but as I joked in another thread, the actual red flag in all this....is the Canales QB whisperer stuff IMO was always overstated bologna. Geno rebounded because he went to long standing winning org in Seattle. Baker just returned to being Baker. Argued that this offseason. Canales had all offseason with Bryce....and made Bryce worse. Now, I don't think he NEEDS to be the legendary QB whisperer he was painted coming in by the fanbase. But that narrative probably should be put to bed for a bit.

Yeah, need to keep in mind Andy Dalton isn’t a good QB at this point in his career. Just better than Bryce. also….
-
Made sense though given what they invested. That he would be defaulted to open up to see if it was just Frank and get it figured out quick But it all highlights how poorly run we are. Not repping Bryce all preseason is the definition of a poorly run team. Biggest fail was not adding a young QB to the mix given how the stage was setup IMO
-
Easy money is on Tepper no matter what Canales said. It’s fits Tepper’s ways of doing business…..and it sure didn’t sound like Canales was even entertaining the thought
-
heck, trade Bryce. His value is as high as it can get. Some team will think they can fix and play him.
-
Dave Canales sure didn't sound like a guy that thought benching Bryce on the table. I personally think David Tepper is done w/ Bryce Young. Tepper has a billion flaws. Acquiring Bryce highlights many of them. But people uniquely painted Tepper as someone that was fixated on sticking with Bryce. Tepper dumps people quick. And hard. That literally is David Tepper in a nutshell. Given what Bryce cost....this is quick. I think it's Tepper.

Bryce Young faced the least pressure of any quarterback this week

he doesn't have the tools. not for NFL conditions. he has the tools for ideal conditions. QBs can put ball in places and in certain scenarios that are off the table for Young. -

what plays against separation....is the DBs aren't having to respect all the potential of a route. I think to an extent in hindsight, Frank's operation saw some of that. Harder to get separation when DBs mentally know route they are defending is limited to only be able to threaten or be run in a handful of ways. Which maybe we haven't talked enough about. You line Johnson up outside with Big Ben throwing....DB has to think about all the things Johnson can do. That helps separation occur. Now insert Bryce, and the DB narrows down the options of the route and odds and over plays what is most likely going to occur....separation gets really tough there. Doesn't matter how great you run routes......if the DB essentially can run the route. -

Chuba averaged 6 yards a pop Sunday Saints game was over so quick hard to run -

they are salesman/showman with an over fixation on personal brands. Don't let politics blind the comparison. The politics of one or the other is irrelevant here. It's a good fair comparison that I didn't invent. You can google that. who essentially lives an every day reality show? who is fixated on personal brand? who demands the oxygen and eyeballs of everyone? who is more fixated on the salesmanship vs the substance? who thinks the media should be his ally or villainizes them? who is in charge of an operation yet fixated on cosmetic/PR aspects? who has nepotism as the foundation of their operation? and then now today....

but again, why not add more talent to the roster for when Bryce imploded.....that fit what you wanted to do. It results in a wasted year. You aren't developing any of the talent with that logic. So next QB eventually comes in and Mingo, XL, Saunders and literally the entire roster of talent wasn't getting the routine development and time they should of been.
-
Miles Sanders isn't a good RB. He is a one dimensional RB who once played on a good team/behind a great OL
-
which was an additional red flag going in......because XL is exactly what Dave's O have been about. Chunk pass plays downfield. So it basically is the Panthers intentionally and knowingly doing bad marriages. which would have been okay......if they just went ahead and added some young talent behind Bryce that fit for when the obvious happened. But they didn't.
-
I mean, at this point, yeah. What I find the most easy to figure out once your fandom is basically dead.....are the obvious bad marriages and build under Tepper. Take going into this year. Literally NO human when asked.... Describe what a coaching staff should look like that could possibly fix a busted out young Bryce Young? Would answer....well we should give him an OC that has never done the job before. Also, we should also pair him up w/ a HC who has never done the job before either....and the icing on that is he should have an incredibly weak resume, that runs counter to what Bryce in theory would perform well in, and let him call the plays too. And that's not even about Dave Canales specifically. It just doesn't make sense how you think that does anything.

Arch Manning will never be a Panther so get that out of your heads.

Last 8 drafts....you saw 2 different teams pull off the back to back #1 overall feat I mean, the league is designed for parity and so that teams hopefully don't. So you largely see the effects of that. But you still have to look at a case by case scenario for when uniquely horrible teams emerge. Which is us. We are uniquely bad. Go to Vegas right now see the difference
