  1. I too have agreed the price for the top spots might simply be too high. Largely because of so many QB needy teams ahead of us too. It's not a good spot for us. It certainly will be too high of a price for the masses here. It would cost more than Lance most likely for us. Folks ahead of us will ensure that IMO.
  2. I know we have virtually no talent in our QB room. Only chance to really win in the NFL is to get talent there. So again, in the end, it doesn't matter what their order is. We have to start prioritizing adding talent. Stroud is just my guy in this lot. and if this front office is going to holdoff for some dream scenario before they add legitimately high talented QB prospects? I won't be a fan of them. Because if my ideal QB is a Trevor Lawarence? Which it frankly is? I'd wait forever most likely and then be gone. and if Stroud was there at 9 and we passed on him? Like you suggest he might be. Because we had some recycled vet another team threw away? Well, then my position on the Frank Reich era will be very negative.
  3. my preferred guy is Stroud. But I can accept Young. I want them to take a shot on a young super talent. Even it isn't their #1 guy. Which you almost never can get. Which is why you can't always hold off on that dream materializing. If your ideal QB is the next Trevor Lawerence? Your coaching career opportunity isn't going to be long enough likely to ever realistically get a chance to go all in on that type prospect.
  4. I'd like to trade up for Stroud. I'd like to trade up for less than Stroud for Young. but I don't like the whatever it takes tagline. There are limits.
  5. sign Jacoby. Then you make a move to draft a young kid. Jacoby would be able to be in the room and knows what Frank wants to do. So you aren't having to start from scratch with everyone.
  6. winning now requires immediate fixes though. That would mean free agents. I think we got too many holes. guess it also depends what a persons meaning of win now is. win now for me means actually trying to win a ring. to a lot of Panther fans it might just mean 9-8 and losing first round in the playoffs. Which would be excitement not seen in some time.
  7. I just want new. Different. Draft and build. Recycled QB named Carr? Seems like a predictable outcome we are in denial of.
  8. we need a lot more to win now than a QB.
  9. Shenault is a good football player. Not sure how good of a WR he is. I mean, he was schemed up for some YAC plays and did that. Almost all his yardage was off that. You wouldn't want to put him as your #1 or #2 on the outside based on what we have seen and go into season like that.
  10. do they have something similar for other positions? I went looking and couldn't find it.
  11. I think he walks away from football. If he plays, he is going to go for a team built to win a Super Bowl today.
  12. Also, the top tier guys? Take a Nuk Hopkins before his recent issues….was a freak show with Davis Mills. He didn’t need Watson to make him elite. Moore’s ceiling IMO isn’t just limited by poor QB play. He doesn’t have insane route running, hands or freak tools you see with the elite 1s. DJ is just a well rounded good WR. from what we have seen to date, I think DJ is best described as having a high floor. Everyone loves DJ. Saying he is a 16-32 ish #1 isn’t hate.
  13. I wasn't critical. I said I would have to wait and see who his hires are before I got too excited. I do think there was concern that post Matt Rhule Tepper would go too far the other direction and I didn't want us to become the land of recycled NFL coaches. He definitely is building a competent staff vs Rhule. Real curious to see what we officially do at OC and who really will call the shots and shape it I like the DC hire. I don't mind some old heads there for consulting. But defense hasn't been what I was keyed in on with the new hire. We have been able to pull that off under every HC essentially. But the QB/OC direction is really what I was going to base my decision on in terms of getting exciting. I'm still probably in the trending to hopefully love it camp. Not there yet with the OC/QB unknowns.
  14. lol. yeah, every team in the draft gets exactly who they wanted, when they wanted. Plan Z magically becomes the plan A.
  15. I think he is in that massive clump of around 15-30. Once you make it past a somewhat clear cut top 10ish....you got the Lockett, Juedy, Higgins, Godwin, Cooper, Evans, McLaurin, and on and on types. I mean, I think Panther fans put him at the top of that clump. Not sure other fanbases put him at the top of it. I think DJ brings a clear cut level of consistency at the WR position. But on an ideal roster, you would want him playing the Tee Higgins role across from the Chase.
  16. I mean, Bears have indicated their pick is for sale. So there is a pick that can be had at the very top. Would Carolina pay the price? I doubt it. There also are about 5 teams ahead of us that need a future QB as well. Bears would probably prefer to deal whoever is further down though. Because the haul will be more insane. And those teams ahead of us could drive up the price to make the Lance trade seem modest lol. Best case scenario, is Stroud and Young get hammered by the NFL machine like most Ohio State and Bama QBs have been.
  17. I also have said before, I am curious to see how the NFL machine chews up these guys in the draft process. This time in the Fields draft he was still the 1b with Trevor. Then you saw Lance and Wilson climb up and Field fall off a cliff. I suspect there will be changes in how Stroud or Young are perceived from now until draft time. And whatever they say about Stroud, I think he is the best QB in the draft. I definitely wouldn't trade for the spot today.
  18. as I said in my most recent post. I am fully aware the majority of the board probably doesn't have the stomach for what it will cost to get Stroud. and based on recent trades at the top of the draft? The cost likely is more than the numbers you are suggesting. But fug it. That's where I am at. Worst case scenario we are no worse than we have been in terms of fielding a competitive team. Manning, Luck and Trevor. That's it. Those IMO are the only 3 QBs I can name in the last couple decades that you could sleep well at night making a BIG move for. Just thought their floors were so high you couldn't fug up that badly. Everyone else I would have felt uneasy about.
  19. I don't think most here have the stomach for what it will cost to get Stroud. The chart hasn't been very accurate of late and most people that suggest what they are comfortable with giving up......aren't even hitting the numbers on the chart. And the league has been above that of late. But I don't care. Worst case scenario if we swing and miss.....we will be about what we have been of late regardless. You can swing big and miss and still be what the Panthers have been the last half decade.
  20. I think we should make a move for Stroud. Sign Jacoby Brissett. Roll with Stroud, Brissett, and Corral. and see where you can get Stroud. If you can get him close just go ahead and start the growing process. If he isn't ready, you open the year w/ Brissett. Brissett makes the most sense to be the vet leader in what I assume will be Frank's O more so than whatever OC we bring in.
  21. Bears have indicated the pick is for sale. Not Fields.
  22. Bears aren't trading Fields. The problem in Chicago isn't Fields. That's like watching Trevor his rookie year and thinking he was the problem with the Jags. They are going to take a king's ransom for the #1 pick. Young and Stroud aren't actually much different prospects entering the draft than Fields was. And unlike Young and Stroud, the Bears knows Fields can be huge playmaker at this level. Which isn't known about the draft picks. Fields just needs to be in a good O scheme with weapons.....and just to continue developing. I mean, it does take commitment from an org to want to build around the type QB Fields is. Not all want to do that. Which is the real question. It's like Cam or Hurts or Lamar or even Allen to an extent.
