not 100 million. but all 32 starting QBs don't get that. if I had an iffy QB situation I'd bring Cam in on a 2-3 year deal. Like a Denver, Washington, Chicago, etc. Let him compete. Will be a good locker room guy regardless of how it pans out. If someone does beat him out Cam would drive that dude. I don't think you can pay Cam to be your QB going forward. Line up the 32 starting QBs in the NFL this year. He is still IMO better than many at the bottom. And there are 32 backups in the NFL and most of them had better deals than Cam last year.

CMC is a great player. But it never made sense to bring in a college coach to rebuild this team.....and pay a RB a massive contract at the same time. That is a contradiction in logic IMO. I mean, yeah, CMC is a fan favorite and helps w/ butts in the seat. But COVID and his injuries really threw that in the trash can last year.

yep, set Olsen to the side and Ted Ginn Jr lead the team in yards and TDs. Cotchery and Philly were right there with Funchess in terms of production. Cam definitely wasn't leaning on big WRs.

also, I let that podcast play in the background. Here is my take. The quote like we saw many times before with Cam....sounds worse than it really was. Overall in terms of football, Cam praised BB, McDaniel, the young players the rest tried to knock. He didn't say anything negative or controversial about Tepper, Rhule or Ron. Cam realizes he presents issues teams have to deal with. Perceived personality. Health concerns. He talked a lot about NE being tough. That getting COVID put him behind and no one was going to wait for him (nor should they). Team kept it going and he returned to new language. New plays. A system he didn't know and basically could never catch up (no offseason and missing two weeks were brutal). I thought the most controversial stuff was essentially everyone being pro Aaron Hernandez.

all I know is what was going on in New England most of the year wasn't modern day football. I don't care what stats are pulled, I just don't think you can compare the stats of that offense vs. what Joe Brady was doing and for it to mean anything.

but that wasn't Cam in NE. Cam was dinking and dunking in NE. Painful to watch that offense after he came back from COVID.

NE attempted 110 fewer pass attempts than Carolina. NE was 31st in pass attempts (also 31st in pass play percentage) and yet they almost allowed identical pressures, hurries, sacks, etc. That doesn't jive with us being the weaker OL.

lot of those rankings don't really reflect how talent stacks up vs another. Like the OL rankings. NE OL ranks so highly because of how NE called games IMO. Same with the defense. BB going to extreme ball control inflates the defensive ranking.

trading up for Lawerence would cost almost as much as getting Watson. Watson being the actual proven QB.

LT2 came into the NFL and routinely put up 2000k seasons. I considered him the first true video game RB. Run, catch and throw. Chargers also only posted two losing seasons while he was there. Love CMC, but longevity is the only way to get in those talks. But he would have to get a better to pass LT2.

I would wager the w/l record is a lot better for the 100m QBs though than those RBs listed

well, I think our defense is just going to get better. also, unless we sit CMC all year....despite check down Teddy.....I think we win more games. We were in too many this past year. I'd imagine a lot of teams would be interested in taking a reasonable gamble on KK. I mean you got to take into account has hasn't been able to play the last 2 seasons. If he can stay on the field. He is good.

I only pay attention to the guaranteed money with contracts like that. It was 110 when he signed the deal. And he already played a year of the deal. I know owners don't want to see this stuff come to the NFL. But it is, in some fashion. Again, times change. Players have power now and are aware of it. They will wield it more and more. NFL might not become the NBA but it want avoid a version coming to the NFL.

there isn't actually 146 mill left hanging out there. Anything outside the guaranteed is window dressing IMO. 110 guaranteed and he already played a year of it. There is a lot of money. And how much money he currently has matters....as does his future earning potential/and the leverage he has on Hou. Why would superstars start flexing their power? Because they have it. Because they can. We have seen that play out in other sports in recent years. Times change. Players are changing.

Maybe Watson folds and it will be someone else. But it will be the elite QB who brings that to the NFL. They wield sigfnicant power and are realizing it. They are realizing what comparable are doing in other leagues. maybe when he signed the deal he didn't realize Houston would continue going to down a culture dumpster fire. Would the team stick with Watson if he turned into a dumpster fire? Nah.
