  1. What a weird thread. I guess this makes more sense to people that live in Charlotte? Ah well.
  2. The bit about differences in the offenses between Gase and Brady was maybe the most interesting to me. It does make Brady's offense sound much easier to get into and process quickly. I'm very happy with Darnold and optimistic he can be the guy here. Still need to see more, especially in high pressure situations, but it's hard to argue his first couple starts could have been better given where his starting point was (2020 was simply brutal for him).
  3. Yup. Darnold looks much improved and clearly can still play football despite the misery in NY. But can he be the guy in the clutch we will need? We all harp on Teddy's arm strength but the real issue was his inability to find ways to win the game for us in all those one score games... He folded under pressure. Darnold will get his chance to prove differently and I am hopeful he can be.
  4. I think they were up front with Luke this was a longer term rebuild and he decided to retire given the concussions etc. I kinda doubt he heard the scheme ideas and bailed... I think he wanted to either win or keep his health intact. Concussions are serious and every year we hear about more former NFL players dying young. If you're totally set financially, why risk it?
  5. That explains the crap that's been floating around here lately
  6. Agreed, on both counts. What we do know is that Darnold was not totally ruined by his years in New York. We still will see more through this year, but the first two games have been full of encouraging signs.
  7. Don't forget that 1 rushing TD. Great performance yesterday imo. We will need him to carry the team from behind or in tough situations at some point this year, and that's when we'll have a better idea if just how much he's grown. But it's clear he survived the Jets and has more than enough in the tank to be a player in this league.
  8. I have to admit I thought Snow was some kind of weird Rhule charity case from his bio... But man, that's why Rhule is in charge of a football team and I'm on CarolinaHuddle from my couch. Snow has surprised so many ways. If he keeps this defense flying around the field it'll be one of the best we've ever fielded.
  9. What a win. Darnold saying all the right things, too. Much more balanced yesterday on offense... This could be a very fun year to watch this offense grow.
  10. Sometimes it's great to be wrong. (I was too, in case that looked like a dig on you)
  11. What the fug, some of you people are insufferable. 2-0 doesn't mean a superbowl but I'm going to enjoy this victory for at least a day or two before I get dragged into another "Sam Darnold sucks we're doomed" argument.
  12. One could argue that he had accomplished a rebuild at Baylor all things considered. Hard to say the same of the Panthers ATM.
  13. Timing isn't right I don't think. If Rhule had a dismal first season, maybe, but he has this team playing and competing hard and it just seems like he will want to see it through. That, and I get the feeling he prefers the NFL anyway.
  14. The problem with Teddy was NOT that he played overwhelming short fields. It's that he couldn't make the throws the defense gave him to go deeper than that on occasion, which this offense needs. In one game, Darnold displayed more arm strength than Teddy ever did in a game. Darnold does need to improve for sure, but Teddy's problem was he stopped taking what the D gave him if it wasn't within 15 yards. Darnold doesn't seem to have that issue... But could as time goes on. We don't really know. And anyway, it appears Darnold had more 20+ yard past the LoS completions than Wilson... Fewer 10-20, true. Meh, I think we need to see more from Darnold.
  15. He had multiple drops in that window of yardage... And our offense very clearly pulled back in the 2nd half... I think all 3 of his 20+ yard completions were also in the first half, although I could be wrong. Finally, a checkdown is not the same as a designed short yardage throw to get YAC. This offense lives and breathes quick short passes by design. It is about working in the scheme and taking what the D gives you and letting your skill plays demonstrate their skill.
  16. I don't know about this. Darnold did have 2 or 3 misses, but Wilson had some as well, and withered under pressure in the 1st half when Darnold didn't. And I don't know that you'd see Wilson put up the performance he did when he's leading and the coaches dial things back like that. In a different situation, Wilson might he better. Darnold, if he had started in a different situation, would be better too. Both were quality and exciting prospects so I think it's hard to be sure which would be more talented.
  17. His 2nd half was gutsy and really good. He also HAD to take chances because of the situation his team was in. Honestly the two looked pretty similar in terms of sitting in and taking hits, delivering the ball to open receivers, and largely avoiding mistakes..
  18. Kyle Allen had 4 games he started before he deteriorated pretty bad, and he didn't fall off a cliff until later. He also was doing decently at WFT before his injuries... Unfortunately it may take time to find these guys flaws but it usually happens. Other times, a new Jake Delhomme is born. Haha
  19. It's interesting this is something that came up here in preseason over and over as a point of emphasis for Darnold, too. Both Darnold and Winston have a history of poor decision making. Both coaching staffs are trying to put these guys in better situations with less risk of those poor decisions I think.
  20. Winston had very talented offensive skill players around him but it seemed like he was frequently asked to play hero ball, like Darnold.
  21. Hard to argue Peyton's coaching prowess at this point, although I did wonder for a bit if Hill was blackmailing him or some crap based on the fascination with him as QB. I think the Saints also have a better overall roster, but I may be wrong. At least, more experienced. I still think the game should be competitive and fun to watch.
  22. Td/int ratio is meaningless for this sort of comparison, since so much of TDs relates to schemes, etc. Winston is one of the few players with a higher interception percent of passes thrown (3.4%) than Darnold (3.1%). But neither were necessarily in the best situations coaching wise. We will see.
  23. If the coaches think he is in some way worse than the starting option we have, it makes perfect sense for him to be inactive given his lack of versatility. I don't understand their perspective, unless it has to do with conditioning for a full game or season... But if I grant that is their perspective I understand why he's in inactive. I also don't watch practice or film of him. I still think we see him starting before the end of the year.
  24. Good to see your tune changing now that you think you're safe from that ban lol
  25. Talk about doing more with less... Well, last year anyway, now both sides are stacked. I think Brady has lots of room to grow tho.
