  1. Last year, Bryce was attempting and completing balls around and past 20 yards. I mean he had 2 TDs that were ~20 yards in weeks 16 and 17. He had And he had one of the highest intended air yards per pass attempt in 2024, at 8.6. This put him at the same as Herbert, Jackson, Love, and many others. He was well above the league average of 7 something. His average depth of target was 9th best in the league. After week 10 he basically was one of the best deep passers in the league and has only one game without multiple 20 yard completions. The issue is this year, his average intended air yards is down to six. He isn't going deep at all, and when he is, he's missing people. He doesn't look good this year.
  2. Last year Bryce was basically as effective as the rest of the league going deep: I would be curious what numbers folks are drawing from that claim he was substantially worse. His issue is basically that he is highly inconsistent 15-20 yards, especially this year. IMO those are the plays we need to keep defenses honest and even last year he wasn't great in that range.
  3. I think that was true before Bryce came back last year, but I don't think it is anymore. But I may be wrong. End of last year he was pretty good (albeit inconsistent within games) at 15-20 air yard passes.
  4. I still think the bigger issue is what you're describing in the 15-20 yard range vs 30 yard bombs. We are scheming guys open in that range and need to hit those shots more.
  5. I mean... Yes. Not like we're replacing Bryce with someone that is known for their arm strength
  6. Their current QB situation means they may not even make it to the playoffs, so... And he definitely has been. But he's at least young enough I'll give him some time
  7. In the short term I suspect so but if McCarthy somehow turns it around and becomes decent I think they won't
  8. I don't want to give up resources for any of those guys... And I'm not convinced they'd even be good here. Not defending Bryce, but yeah... They're not staring for a reason.
  9. Not that your earlier points weren't interesting too but this is what I was wondering about with the injury and potential recovery time. I always had this "hunch" about rolling in vs out just from my own experiences. Insightful stuff, thanks
  10. I think fans get a bit confused about "justifying so and so starting to be team.". For instance, Chuba starting over Rico isn't causing locker room discord. If Andy performs well once, great, that's the job of a backup. It's helpful for the coaches and FO to see that and they wouldn't object to a win no matter who is under center. As to looking like a real offense objectively neither QB matters a lot for that. This offense is buoy for rushing and it's what it does well.
  11. So I completely agree with you that they for once did what they're supposed to do. It's why I'm pretty happy with the win. And we have a fuging winning record!!! But I'm also not gonna stop wanting and hoping for other improvements with my posts. Not that I have any control.
  12. I do not believe there is anyone at any significant level of the organization (fo/staff) that wants this team to lose on Sunday at this point to make Bryce look good. Early in his career he was coddled, yes. But we are still in the playoffs and losing would cause a blow while beating the bills would be amazing And realistically nobody has to worry about The Rusty Rocket really going on a tear, even if we'd like to
  13. No I meant last year's Atlanta game. I legitimately didn't even consider him in this year's LMAO
  14. Those are nice stats and all but I want to see more Atlanta games from him. He has seemed timid this year TBH.
  15. If BY was going to miss significant time I could see it, but early reports are pretty good.
  16. Hopefully they look at the tape and settle into Rico as being the #1 and letting Chuba have a few snaps to spell him so he doesn't cramp end of game.
  17. It definitely is but I don't think you can sit him two weeks unless he is seriously injured and supposedly his X-rays were negative. I do think holding him out one game is in the cards. And yes wasn't losing the game was chosen deliberately. Didn't mean I loved his play.
  18. I don't think there has been a Panthers season, no matter how good or bad, where we didn't have complaining here during and after games lol Just the nature of a community like this.
  19. You just precisely summarized my frustration with the game. It isn't "just" about Bryce or Canales or the RB usage etc etc etc. it's just we shouldn't have had it that close in the 4th given how well the D played at times.
  20. Also it's worth noting the backup QB threads are predicated on the idea Young is injured. There's one grumbly Young post and the rest are because we are in contention still and if Young misses any time and frankly regardless we need a backup because Dalton looks old.
  21. I'd argue the defense did not look like dog poo. Especially some of our younger players, Horn, and Brown.
  22. 99% of the Chuba commentary was NOT about Chuba personally, it was that Rico was clearly the hotter back today.
  23. Well he didn't exactly look better but he didn't look much worse either lol. Plus most of us that did have also been wanting to bring in a different backup all along, and especially now that Bryce may be out some time
