I think play calling was a factor as well. I know we don't have anyone who can stretch the field but we still need to take our shots. I felt like Reich was trying to ease Bryce in by running the ball and keeping things conservative in the passing game (just look at the opening drive) but it backfired when the Falcons defense had no reason to fear our deep passing game. It makes sense on paper given our injuries at WR, but we have to be more aggressive going forward. Bryce almost hit on that deep shot in the 4th quarter; if he starts hitting a few like that it'll force defenses to respect our passing game more.

Jaycee Horn expected to miss multiple weeks

Injury bust. -
Yeah, at this point I think we should just trade Burns. We probably can't get what the Rams offered last year but if we can recoup even a single 1st rounder it'll be something. If we're not willing to pay him and he's not willing to sign for less than his asking price we need to at least get SOMETHING for him. Waiting this out until we have no trade leverage AT ALL would be a bigger mistake than turning down the Rams offer now appears to have been.

I feel like Higgins is bound to be overpaid. He's a good player but I'm not completely sold on him as a true #1 WR when he has Chase on the other side.

At some point the salary cap is going to have to increase to accomodate all these massive contracts. It was one thing when it was only QBs getting this kind of money, but now DEs and WRs are creeping up there as well. If this keeps up it won't just be the RBs complaining about how bad the market is for their position.

I heard about this really nice technology for football fields once; it's called grass. -

Did we just pass drafting Cam Newton Jr….

I was - and still am - a fan of Anthony Richardson, but Bryce Young was the clear choice at #1 overall. -
Overrated since day one. I never understood what so many people saw in him coming out of college. Imagine thinking we should draft this guy over Derrick Brown, or anyone else.

A piss ant would be an upgrade over Jordan.

This coming from the guy who had Zach Wilson rated ahead of Trevor Lawrence?

What is Ekwonu doing here..?

I get the sense that some of this is being caused by communication issues with the players adjusting to the new scheme. A lot of the pressure we've seen has been guys coming through unblocked where one or more of our guys try to block the wrong guy or appear confused. Hopefully this works itself out before it becomes TOO big of an issue. But I definitely think we need to sign a couple of veterans for depth. -
For the love of God just sign a veteran.

How are you feeling after the first preseason game?

Only concern I have is the starting OL struggling, but we saw last year they can play. -
No. In this case he knows exactly what he's doing.

Did we get hoodwinked on Miles Sanders
Jay Roosevelt replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
We did not overpay. Y'all acting like we're paying him $15M/year. -
Can we really afford to pay both Burns and Hunter long-term?
-
I'd just assume pass on him. At his age I don't think giving him a big contract is the best idea. I'd rather save the cap space for free agency next season or for a possible trade for a big-time WR.

CBS NFL broadcasts are going to suck
Jay Roosevelt replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
He could actually be decent at this. -
I see a relatively slow start before picking it up mid-season and then going .500 during the last month of the season. Whether that'll get us into the playoffs likely depends on how well the Saints and Falcons are doing at that point. Not sure I see us getting in as a wild card. Regardless, the most important thing is how Bryce performs. Playoffs would be nice, but I'd rather win 6-7 games with Bryce showing that he's a true franchise QB than win 9-10 games and come out of the season with questions about Bryce Young being the guy.
