The did kind of try by throwing money at Oher (injury had to retire), then at Matt Kalil (sucked), then tried to draft Greg Little (busted). We could never bounce back from Gross retiring…

I kind of like Jordan Travis. I think he could develop into a solid backup and be drafted in a late round. Rattler has arm talent but he probably goes higher than I’d like, plus you can run a similar offense with Travis and Young IMO.

And if you can’t draft right you really aren’t going anywhere regardless. You have to have faith in your GM and staff at some point.

Oh I didn’t mean for us. We really can’t afford to draft a LB early IMO. Too many other pressing needs. -
https://atozsports.com/carolina/panthers-could-have-drafted-cj-sroud-houston-texans-drafted-bryce-young-2023-nfl-draft-houston-chronicle/ McClain is also claiming the Texans wanted Young. Add him to Glazer and Schefter’s sources. Again we jumped them by including a young player in Moore. That’s what moved the needle. Texans thought it was too costly and we sweetened the deal. Yes it worked out great for Houston. Winning that “meaningless” game changed everything.

Yeah we wanted the top pick more. Hell their HC still won’t say they preferred Stroud, just “we liked both options.” If Stroud was there guy he would have no problem saying we got our guy. I believe the link you shared is referencing another trade the Texans attempted involved us as a 3rd team. The first one was straight up to 1 but the cost way too high for one spot. It mentioned they wanted pick 12 or next year’s first. I don’t blame them for staying put and it definitely worked out with them getting Stroud.

If Wilson can stay healthy he could be a steal in day 2. -
Jay Glazer and Adam Schefter. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/04/25/2023-nfl-draft-panthers-texans-raiders-favorite-bryce-young/ On Tuesday, FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer joined The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz to clear up the air atop the 2023 draft—which was a bit clouded this morning by the sudden increase in odds for Will Levis. Not only did Glazer affirm that Young is still the favorite for Carolina, but he also stated that the University of Alabama quarterback was the favorite for at least two other passer-needy squads. “Obviously, 1—it’s Bryce Young. That’s where they’re going,” he said. “I think that people were trying to smokescreen right now that they’re not. There’s a big drop-off for everybody. Everybody’s bored, it was Bryce Young first, then even though he’s got a smaller frame. “But it’s interesting because Houston at 2—that’s the guy they wanted. They weren’t able to move up for him. Obviously, that’s who Carolina wanted. That’s who the Raiders wanted.” Fellow league insider Adam Schefter had the same intel, as he noted in his recent podcast episode with Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer. Schefter said that the Texans were “very close” to acquiring the No. 1 overall pick from the Chicago Bears before Carolina swooped in on March 10.

When someone says he looks "shorter" then references hair and I respond with hair doesn't matter because they use pins and reference Mahomes while stating official measurements overrule pictures. Then you quote that and reference mutiple pictures that's a height conversation you are interrupting... 5'10" and 1/8 vs 5'10" and 1/8 again would be height. The weight was pages ago... I'm the one who can't read though. Go it.

Getting Crunch Time for the Panthers and Brian Burns
ForJimmy replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Block win percentage is pretty basic. They just use a percentage to account for opportunities. Burns was 6th in the league.... Brown is the most important by far. We need to extend him ASAP! -

Getting pressure is pretty important as well. Incompletions and hopefully interceptions can come from that. I pointed to his sacks last year and you said they didn't come at game saving times so I am showing they were next to zero opportunities for those type of plays do to the offense sucking. I'm not a die hard, but just saying you may see him take off on another team once he gets more opportunities. I hear fans crying about CMC and DJ all the times now, trade Burns and you might get more of the same. -

That's a fair argument. Just when he gets more opportunities and continues at his rate you might have some pissed off fans like we are with CMC and DJ Moore. -

the block, so he can either create pressure or get a sack providing the QB doesn't adjust accordingly. -
I get the theory about the hair but they actually put a pin through the players hair to get the official measures. Pictures have different depths and angles but he was measured at "officially" 5'10" and 1/8. The same as Murray. Weight can fluctuate so it's easier to cheat with that but height just is what it is. It's kind of funny Mahomes was pissed they used the pin because he thought he had an extra inch with his hair. “I like to say 6’2 and ¼, you know the hair adds a little bit you know, alright, I was definitely 6’2 exactly at the combine. They went straight through the hair, I gotta have the hair up longer a little bit a little extra length and they just put a little pin straight through and got me.”

He gets doubled as much as TJ Watt and wins 3% less of the time according to this data. -

I’m just telling you he wins 1 out of 4 times. You want game saving plays yet we had 0 4th quarter leads and teams could just run at us in the 4th to seal the deal. Thad’s lack of opportunities. -

This shows he wins 1 out of 4 times (6th highest in the league) while being double 15% of the time. He just has had less opportunities to get more sacks because we rarely have a lead.
