Todd McShay seems to really like Anthony Richardson

If you believe a player is very coachable and you believe in your ability as a coach then I can understand looking at the guy with the highest ceiling. Stroud is my top preference still, but I get the AR hype. -
If Reich and co think Carr is the answer, I’ll get behind it. I prefer a rookie with our young team, but either way.

Good article showing how the NFL is trending towards potential guys like Herbert, Mahomes, Jackson, Allen vs stat guys like Tua, Mac, etc... Of course Burrow had the most elite stats I've seen and is doing great in the NFL. Just shows there is not right way to scout/draft a QB. -

People always want to replicate what is successful in the NFL. I've seen scouts compare his TRAITS to a Josh Allen, Cam Newton, Jalen Hurts to see how he can be used successfully in the NFL based on his strengths as a prospect. Does that mean they think he will be the next whomever? I don't think so. It's more of how they can use that player what what system might work best for him. For example a Mac Jones should be used more like Kirk Cousins and Fields more like Jalen Hurts. Smart HCs can get a player and design a system to play to their strengths. I don't think anyone is expecting AR to become the next Cam Newton, but are thinking he can be used in a similar manner. Think RPOs, an extra runner in goal line or short yard package. Drawing up deep routes to keep the defense honest with his arm strength etc... I never read too much into the exact player comparisons. -

Make a thread about any of the top QBs and you will see similar posts. The Huddle just wants a young talented QB. It’s mostly people not wanting him mentioning Cam. I think Stroud seems to be a Huddle favorite, AR might be the best available at 9. -

People are on here acting like the AR like is some weird Huddle Cam crush thing? Todd McShay just mocked him to us? Many other mock drafts have him going in the top half of the first with several having us a 9 drafting him. He happens to be the 4th ranked QB by a lot of analysts and unless we trade up the 9 spot might be around that range. It’s not like people on here are just randomly loving this prospect. I think most prefer Stoud/Young over him but know that’s not realistic unless we trade up. -

It's all situational. Lance played for a team heads and shoulders above all their competition at NDSU. AR played much tougher competition with a Florida team that just blew up after Mullens was fired not to mention battling through injuries and the OC limiting AR's running plays due to injuries and lack of depth. Switch rosters and competition and who knows how differently these two QBs would look. The good news is professional scouts and NFL staff are going to be able to make a much better judgement that we can as fans and we actually have a solid staff in place for a change to do so. -

AR needs a great staff with a development plan to have a chance at being successful. We might actually have that here in Carolina… -

My dad was a gamecocks fan. He was from Camden, SC. I always find myself low key pulling for them except when they play Auburn. -

Hooker’s backup? Joe Milton? He has a cannon and is huge, but damn he overthrew a lot of passes in his limited playing time. If he can work on his accuracy he might be NFL material. -
Looks like they also released Woods who Brown should be familiar with when he was in LAR.

A QB with over 2000 rushing yards and 25 rushing TDs in college isn't what I would consider "mild scrambling." Teddy had like 1/10th of that against lesser defenses and you want to sit here and act like they are similar in that sense? Sometimes its ok to just say "yeah it was a bad comparison." I like in Knoxville and watched most UT games. They drew up QB runs, mixed in some RPOs, and if Hooker had space he was going to take it. Again I'm not that high on him as a NFL prospect, but he definitely in a different level athletically than Teddy was in college. -

I agree. I think it's just hard to project where a QB is going to go in the draft (aside from the top ones), because it's such a premium position that will constantly be over drafted. I'm just still confused by the guy who called Hooker Teddy? So I've heard Stroud and Hooker be compared to Teddy so far this offseason.... -

and higher than Josh Allen's were in college? So what exactly does that mean?? Is he a stronger Josh Allen because of your random metric you are using? Seems pretty flawed.... -

What does his injury have to do with anything? ACL injuries happen in practice sometimes. What a pointless comment.... https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2089798-how-and-why-minimal-or-non-contact-injuries-occur-in-nfl-workouts#:~:text=In the case of direct, also plays a significant role. Hooker is a true dual threat QB in college, Teddy was a pocket passer than rarely ran. Comparing them is just random. The fact that you had to pull one year out of his whole career and still came up with only 279 total rushing yards tells the whole story. -

If we are planning on waiting until the 2nd to draft him we better have a plan B, because it just takes one team with a high ranking like this to swoop in and draft him. -
I think some of these guys don't know enough about Carolina to know Moton exists and is a good RT.
