I feel like most teams aren’t super deep at pass rushers right? I mean it’s a premium position and teams can’t afford to have a solid pass rusher on their bench.

You do know that Sam is taller than Matt right? Maybe Matt actually needs some time to adjust like our staff and the analysts were saying. That’s why we picked up Baker AFTER we drafted him. Corral can still have a good future as we don’t have to rush him out this year. He is just going to get better as he learns. Corral has said himself Baker has helped him the most.

That’s fair. Let’s hope he listens to McAdoo about the QBs.

The Niners had to put in Lance before he was ready last year. Corral is a 3rd round pick project QB. He has all the physical tools but could take a minute to be ready mentally. I don’t think it’s any guarantee that Corral will be our future considering where we drafted him and what little we gave up for him. We have a solid starter in Baker that still has some potential to be better and a young project QB to sit behind him and learn. It’s as good of a situation we have had at the position since Cam was healthy IMO.

He will need to develop as a pass blocker as was advertised before the draft, but is an immediate mauler in run blocking and has a huge ceiling.

I like Sam and think he will make a good QB in the long term, but he was playing against 4th stringers vs a team that has no depth and didn’t light it up or anything. Looked like Ridder and Willis in their preseason debuts.

If we are down to our 3rd QB then yeah it’s going to get ugly, as it would with most teams…

It’s pretty well stated he wasn’t going to be ready this year. He has all year to figure it out (it’s why we traded for Baker). We just need to ditch Sam or PJ. It’s hard to manage/develop 4 QBs…

If PJ is having significant playing time the only rational thought is they will trade Sam. Baker with PJ as the vet backup until Corral is ready. Stupid IMO, but that’s the only rational thought I can have on this…

2nd half better be Corral vs Howell. No other QBs allowed!

Even if he it, let him play. In theory he will get better and PJ will not…

But it’s just preseason. If Rhule wants an open competition, show him why Sam is the bad choice. Let him sit back and make reads like Baker does so we can end this nonsense.

I can see both sides. I believe Corral has hinted towards not being ready and Baker being one of the biggest helps out of all of his teammates. It will be good to have a vet like Baker out there while our line learns to gel and let a young QB like Corral or draft pick take over a much more stable OL. Willis flashed some potential, but it was also a preseason game and teams aren't really game-planning around him.

If we drafted Corral and Howell (which I’m not against) and we underperform so we get a new coach next year. Would would want use our draft on another young QB in the 1st to compete? We would have a crowded but cheap QB room. With just Corral m it seems easier to justify drafting another next year than if we have 2 rookies IMO.

What about next year's class? Draft one again in the first? It would be crazy value to have one where Howell was drafted.....
