He is a better option than Daley was at LT. Moving a 3rd round rookie all around the line isn’t doing him any favors either. Keep these OL at one position and let them build chemistry and develop. I was just watching the Chiefs game and they were talking about how it took so many games for their OL to develop chemistry they are starting a 6th round G, new FA G, and LT they traded for. We haven’t had the same line up at any week.

You just named busts which there are plenty OL busts as well. We had Otah and Matt Kalil who were drafted in the first. Erving was also drafted in the first. Busts happen and are part of the draft process. Russell was drafted based on potential just like Josh Allen. One worked out and one didn’t. I have no problem taking OL first, but the OL shouldn’t decide if we draft a QB or not. QB comes first, if we see no reasonable options then OL is a huge need.

Just stating that people screaming for us not to draft a QB until we fix our OL has been debunked by many of those rookie QBs I named. Yes you will have to pay a premium for a premium FA OL like the Chiefs did with Thuney last offseason, Schreff is going to be a FA from that dominant WFT OL on the top of my head. There are usually good OL FAs you just have to pay for them. There are never good QB FAs. Finally solid interior OL can be drafted in the later rounds. It’s easier/quicker to fix the OL than replacing a QB. The Jags have actually invested a lot in their OL. Lawrence playing poorly is more due to coaching IMO. If our current staff or (hopefully) new staff are high on a QB like Pickett, they should just draft him. Once you get a rookie QB on the cheap pay scale you can really payout for the better FA OL and start drafting OL/weapons for him that fit his skill set the following year.

Yep he should have several games of experience at ONE position being LT. He would be playing even better if that were the case. If I recall even Sewell struggled his first couple of starts. BC should be an option for us at LT next year and I want to see Brown play some RG. Miller is a vet that we all knows sucks and doesn’t need to play anymore, same for Daley.

It was over before it started.

I’ve said this countless times. The most common approach lately is to take your QB and then develop a line around him like Herbert, Burrow, Murray and the Browns tried with Baker (he just may not be the guy). A line can be adjusted in the offseason a solid FA and some late round guards. They won’t be top 10, but BC is looking good at LT again with Moton at RT are good starting points. The only question this year is if there is a QB worth a top 10 pick or not.

Well I clearly stated he was better than Carter, so I’m not sure what you are arguing. Carter is a very low bar. The Pro Bowl is voted by the fans so it’s not a true indication of how good a player is. They just read a stat and assume.

The man can’t cover. He loads up on tackles in a very average defense. He is better than Carter, but honestly I’m ok with getting a draft pick for him, because we desperately need picks.

ESPN suggests 2 QBs for 2022 for the Panthers...

The Chargers drafted a QB when they had a top 10 pick and a terrible OL. They drafted their LT the following year. Some of these Chiefs OL you are talking about were later rounds picks as well, Trey Smith was a late rounder and they paid big money for Thuney in FA. We have a 2nd and 3rd rounder already in Moton and BC. There is definitely more than one way to do this. I’m not against using our top pick on OL as they are an extremely important group, but there is definitely more than one way to turn around a franchise. -

Don’t give up anything for injury prone average Jimmy G. If we draft OL this year, we will need our picks to draft a QB next year. Just sign Mitch or Marriotta for cheap and have Cam be our Hill/back up QB for the year. -
I don’t care who was blocking, they couldn’t hold their blocks for whatever reason. If they have proven they could in the past and now can’t, there is a coaching/development issue. (Example) If you have a Pro Bowl LT and he allows 5 sacks, him being a Pro Bowl LT doesn’t really matter as he failed to do his job.

In his defense if he went to his second read this year he would have been sacked. Look at the prior year if you want to see him go through progressions. I feel like this year he was trying to do too much, but didn’t really have any other options.

Probably Howell. I think it’s close. Pickett is more polished, but Howell has more athletic ability so maybe a higher ceiling?

You want to roll with Darnold?
-
I think he will be gone before our pick. He seems to be the top QB and the Lions or Giants could use him. Giants will probably bring in a new coach who will want a new QB, Lions could use a rookie to learn behind Goff for a couple games.

That’s very odd… Any good deals? Asking for a friend.

Trading for Darnold was questionable at best, but pretty low risk. Passing on QBs like Fields and picking up no other FA QBs to compete with him or act as plan B was foolish. Picking up his 5th year for $18.5 million before he took a snap with us was idiotic. The Darnold saga was stupid because Rhule went “all in” on him with no backup plan. It was a longshot to begin with, but going all in was the ultimate failure. If we had a young QB like Fields on the roster to compete with him and weren’t on the hook this next year for 18.5 it would be a totally different situation. We could draft OL and have extra money to sign a great vet. It was a complete roster mismanagement followed by incompetent coaching. Shuffling bad vets on the OL constantly is also killing this offense.

Turnovers are a problem? Let’s see what Darnold can do…
