  1. I’d say he was competing with Lucas vs training/coaching him before he punched him.
  2. It's an unknown because he hasn't do this before. I would be surprised if any bad came from it though.
  3. That's the good news. DC has no connection to Bryce. If he struggles again I would imagine our coach gets to acquire his guy next season. If it's bad I wouldn't be surprised if it's a first rounder.
  4. As @MasterAwesome stated that would be a lob pass and hoping your WR can beat his coverage and get to that spot in time. Constantly pressuring a QB usually results in quick small to intermediate passes though. We 100% have to take these shots and I think you will see some PA, rollouts etc to give them some extra time to develop, but I just don't think that was on the early list of things they are working on. Slowick did a lot of this with Stroud last year. Drop back and roll outs while we WRs got well into their deep routes before he would chunk it downfield. As I stated previously, I agree that we need to see a respectable passing game this year. If not then our QB situation needs to be reevaluated.
  5. When you are learning a new offense and the HC is trying to emphasis getting the ball out quick you tend to start with short quick passes. DC is wanting it out under 2.7 every time right now. Longer passes to be longer developing. I hope you realize an average means there are longer and shorter times. A lot of deep passes require a little bit more time. You have to learn the basics first IMO. If this is still going on when the games start like last year then yeah it's a big concern.

  7. It was to DJ posted by Icege during TC early this week. Aired out to the right on the 1v1s. I think he had Horn on him but I could be wrong about the CB.
  8. 2 days ago this wasn’t an issue. Now we have a FanFest with no deep bombs and you come prancing out with the negativity. Just relax and see what happens. He has a decent supporting cast now. If he struggles again then Canales will bring in his guy. I’m just not sounding any alarms nor am I crowning him ready to be our franchise guy. It’s a wait and see approach.
  9. I think his main focus is on the 2.7 or less. Once we get comfortable with that, the playbook can open up. I feel like just 2 practices ago they were throwing up deep passes though? He even hit DJ on the 55 yards pass plus several tweets about deep passes. It was one of the ones @Icege was sharing with us.
  10. Based on my analysis he could be good, or not, or he could be average. More to come later…
  11. Agreed. It’s hard to tell who is at fault without knowing the play. There are expectations like throwing into double coverage or WRs giving up on plays, but my point is those deep passes are typically a timing/communication issue especially in practice.
  12. Again we don’t know the route or where he was suppose to be. If they were on the same page the timing looks right. He stops and turns around to find the ball and its several yards off. Had he ran to that spot the timing would be right. You would need to know the play design before we can critique a 2 second frame of a WR trying to catch a pass. Either way it’s a timing/communication thing as most deep passes are. We know he is capable of throwing it accurately 55 yards as he did yesterday. They just need to work on timing/communication. If you want to ruing timing/communication you pressure the QB. That’s what we saw last year. Honestly Bryce with his feet set isn’t that much of a concern for me. Bryce holding the ball too long, being hesitant, and his power throwing longer passes on the run are my main concerns.
  13. Isn't Matthews the former WR for the Eagles who is related for Jerry Rice?
  14. There are plenty of examples of him missing, but I'm not sure this is a good one. Mingo turns around and is running backwards to locate the ball? Maybe he thought it was going to be a spot throw for a jump ball. To me it looks like if he just kept facing the right direction running his route the ball would have been pretty close. It's hard to tell without see what the actual play call was. Pause it on 2:26 and you will see Mingo facing the wrong direction, engaging with the CB with the ball still in the air before it falls 3-4 yards beside him. Regardless, I'm not sure whose fault it is (Young or Mingo), but I would chalk this up to a miscommunication.
  15. I really don’t see this as “Anti-Bryce.” Sounds like they have a similar conclusion as many of us in that he should have enough to better evaluate and a lot of it will be wait and see. The better than Tua arm strength definitely goes against some of the narratives on here.
  16. The Golden Lion wasn’t 6’4”
  17. I would think so. I remember Steve Young talking about not being able to see but knowing Rice would be at his spot. It’s amazing they don’t throw more interceptions honestly…
  18. I mean if a 6’6” QB can’t do it clearly, none of them can. Sounds like it’s about timing/windows/throwing lanes etc…
  19. Maybe. I remember Tua had a weak arm until get got WRs like Hill and Waddle in McDaniels system. Now he was in the top 5 statistically for deep passes.
  20. He is my favorite new Panther. I hope he turns into a legit receiving threat sooner vs later.
  21. He could be good, but wait and see. Arm strength “better than Tua.” Around here that’s been labeled as “cope.”
  22. Nice find! He also was working with a subpar WR group. I really think the "deep ball" pass is more on the WR/Scheme these days. Most QBs can lob it up a decent amount of yards to a spot. The ones that lead in the deep ball stat have the WRs to go get it and the schemes to get them open for it.
