  1. He 100% has input. You think Canales is drawing up this defensive roster? He mentioned not entirely knowing what a nose tackle does. Evero's scheme features the safety frequently which is why we targeted several of the top young ones available with Moehrig and being in on Holland. It's just a version of Fangio's defense (which is probably trending now) with sprinkles Capers in there. With a young HC with an offensive background, Evero is the defensive mind until he isn't.
  2. You don't think Evero is having input in a day 1 defensive FA costing this much? He uses safeties to pressure more than most DCs. He also frequently rotates one down into underneath coverage while keeping one up high. For example Woods was our FS last year hence was he was always the one we saw getting burnt deep. Richardson when he played was our SS cleaning up the underneath passes and helping in run defense. We basically upgraded him by a large margin. Still need a Woods replacement though...
  3. Apparently they tried him at FS and he wasn't as good. He is a SS and should be perfect for Evero. Still need a FS.
  4. I've heard Evero's offense uses the NT as more of a pass disrupter vs a big space eater. I think he is a good fit...
  5. It’s really not. People just glance at stats and don’t realize how solid Tremble was as a blocker and we are wanting to run the ball. It’s on this team to chance fans perspectives though I suppose.
  6. When a young top player at his position signs a new deal it typically resets the market. With a growing cap space this will keep happening.
  7. Our offense was one of the better deep passing offense the last half of the year. DC wants to throw it “over their heads.” I think we still have the idea of rookie Bryce who was scared to throw it deep. https://x.com/JoshNorris/status/1898035976884068599
  8. Yosh plays in our jumbo package too. He can also backup several spots. He is basically our new BC swing tackle.
  9. Does he not know you don't draft a TE in the first?
  10. This all sounds great in hindsight, but before the season started people thought Bryce was in the best place for early success. One of those main reasons was our OL. Our OL was looking solid in that power running system Wilks was using. We botched it and we failed at giving him any weapons that year...
  11. It's his last year of his contract and I'm sure he is wanting an extension. Considering he is making $16 million this year, I'd say his extension will be pricey for a guy turning 33 this year. They just tagged Trey Smith and you know Mahomes is eating up a chunk of cap space with a 66 million dollar cap hit. Not to mention they also need help with their tackles as their OL go manhandled in the Super Bowl.
  12. I feel like waaaay too many teams have bad OLs for it to be as easy as some people think. I get being down on our team as we have been bad for a while, but I think our OL investment was needed and might have actually paid off. Hopefully you will see them invest in defense this offseason since our offense appeared to develop some stability the last half of the season. We tried to have a decent OL with rookie Bryce (top 10 pick in Icky, Moton got paid, Bozeman was a vet we signed and looked good the year prior, BC is a solid OG but went on IR game 1). It was a scheme change with poor implementation IMO plus some injuries. Players like Zavala, Mays, and Icky instantly looked better in our new scheme for a reason...
  13. I think it's more about protecting their investment. We invested a lot in our QB and we had to pump money in the OL to help develop him. Bears are just doing the same with their top pick. Our poorly managed cap from previous years is a main reason why our defense was so terrible. We had a lot of issues with limited resources to fix them. We went all in on the OL to try to repair the recent QB investment, clearly at the expense of our defense but I think our staff knew this. It's why Evero is still here.
  14. To be clear I’m not against drafting a TE. I just prefer not to draft one with a very similar skillset as the one we already have, but again I won’t be upset if we do.
  15. Yeah I’d prefer to work on our 1000 other needs, but I’m not too passionate one way or another.
  16. I kind of like Tremble out of the backfield as a FB type role. You are right thought we never really developed him.
  17. Seems a little redundant with JT Sanders here. It would be ideal to have a TE that is a skilled blocker to pair with him IMO.
  18. https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/gamelog/_/id/4685472/tetairoa-mcmillan Anyone is welcome to look up his per game stats. It was a weak schedule and teams like Utah and Colorado shut him down. He went 7 straight games without a score. I’m just saying he isn’t quite on the same level Evans was coming out. That’s not really an insult.
  19. Check out the game by game breakdowns this past year for TMac. He feasted on bad competition like UNM with 304 yards and 4 TDs then went 7 straight games without a TD. He broke 100 receiving yards in 5 of the 12 games he played. The only concern I have is him disappearing in some games. One report is he was playing hurt and I know his QB play was pretty bad. He just isn't as strong of a prospect as Evans was IMO. That doesn't mean he won't be great in the NFL.
  20. So after Richards and Williams we are back to having no center?
  21. In our 3-4 I think it’s Wallace and Jewell. If we get Shaq back on a cheap deal then I’m sure he is part of the equation as well.
  22. I remember laughing at Washington last year for getting “stuck” with Quinn. They have the last laugh now. Always good to wait and see with coaching hires.
