I think one thing that always differentiated the Rhule hire from other college to NFL coaches is that he didn't come from a top power conference program. He wasn't a coach who depended on having the best 4 and 5 star recruits like Saban. He also wasn't about some gimmicky college scheme or no huddle offense like Chip Kelly. He was hired because of his ability to build a program, manage the locker room, motivate his players and get the most out of each and every one of them. I think for these reasons he will be successful but that success also depends heavily on getting the QB position right. I don't think Saleh is guaranteed to succeed because he hasn't dealt with all the aspects of being an NFL head coach before. For every example of a successful coordinator to head coach hire, there are 3 that flamed out and never got the gig again. I think he will have early success because the bar can't be any lower, but the Jets are a dysfunctional organization and that doesn't bode well.

All good arguments, and I do think Saleh will be a good coach but I am surprised more people aren’t higher on Rhule due to his head coaching experience. Saleh may have NFL experience but it’s his first time being the main guy and we shall see if he can sustain a program.

Interesting matchup for week 1. Who do you think will ultimately have a better career as an NFL head coach and why?
-
If they planned on cutting him, they would have taken anything. I don’t understand what they see in Santoso.

The fact that Rhule is giving the interview tells you who has final roster control

IDK, but I've never seen a 53 man roster with 5 TEs and only 4 CBs.

As of this moment there are 10 rookies on the Panthers roster

It has to be a record, more evidence this may have been our strongest draft ever. -
I will be really pissed if we lose Shi Smith - he is going to be good
-
hahaha, that's gold!

Dude we already have one thread locked on this topic. Just post in the other Cam thread instead

I think a major part of that is we had a mass exodus last year prior to covid hitting and needed some bodies to field a team. As a first year coach, without much help from useless Hurney, you get some players you're familiar with. Now we're starting to see that's not really how Rhule wants to operate, it was a stop gap measure.

I think Jones will do well in NE, he really came into a perfect system and situation. He doesn't really have to air it out, just play smart and efficient and let the defense win some games for you.

Based on what?
-
It's an interesting point, do you think Cam asked to be cut rather than be a backup?
-
I think he would've had a better season but would have been benched after one bad game in favor of Jones. That whole city and the organization is trying to manifest him to be the next Brady.
-
I think you're right, although he would have been on a very short leash. I think Mac was going to start at some point but Cam would have at least been the backup. Now he's out of a job.
-
If I was Cam, I would retire before playing on that horrible team
-
I think most of the Huddle realizes he's done, just a few people in denial left over.
-
Why are people freaking out about a 7th round pick? They took a shot at a potential replacement LS and it didn't work out. I expect them to keep Jansen.
-
I think Steelers make most sense if they cut Haskins who looks like garbage
-
It means nobody wants him or they would have been calling the Pats to inquire.
-
I don't think he gets picked up by anyone immediately. His only chance is if there is an injury to a QB during the season. Cam is officially in the journeyman part of his career now.
-
Based on what? He doesn't fit their system.
-
I still don't want him and his noodle arm.
-
Not surprised - he didn't get vaccinated and missed 5 crucial days due to Covidi protocol. Bellichick doesn't play around.
