  1. Can the Canes clinch with just a point Tuesday? The Rangers have a game in hand. If they were to win in OT Tuesday and win their final two games while the Canes lost their final game, the final standings should be: 1. Rangers - 114 points 2. Canes - 113 points Am I missing something about how the Canes can clinch with a single point, absent the Rangers losing at least one of their final two games?
  2. I was thinking this exact thing when I read the OP. "Know he is from a smaller program ..."? Since when is Ole Miss a smaller program than Pittsburgh or Liberty?
  3. Couldn't the Panthers just not use a large portion of that cap and roll it over to next year? That provides a ton of space before any cuts or restructures next offseason.
  4. Sloppy game from the Canes overall. No sustained pressure, lots of sloppiness with the puck, and the refs had a huge impact.
  5. One of my good friends is a huge KC fan. We had this exact discussion while our families were on vacation together last week. The cap is a zero sum game. If one person takes up a huge portion of the cap, it negates a team's ability to fill the other slots on that team with high quality assets. As much as I hate Brady, this is one thing I have always respected about him. He has always taken less than market value (maybe not by much but still less) to allow his team to have more money for other players. There really is something to that. So many don't buy into it though.
  6. Am I reading the reports correctly? $30M per year average for a WR??? That is insanity. Adams' deal at $28.5M per year average was insane as well.
  7. I know you are a Howell fan, and I believe I’ve read you post that you think he can be a good NFL QB down the road. I understand the frustration with the current state of the Panthers, but why would you want someone who you believe will be a good QB to NOT come to Panthers to, hopefully, help turn them around? Of course, this question is from the perspective of giving Howell time to develop versus throwing him into the fire next year.
  8. This trade would be the epitome of the “I want it and I want it now” mindset. This trade, in no way, is good for the long term Panthers. You simply cannot build a team giving up this much for one player when you don’t have the other pieces already in place. The Rams had those players in place before the Stafford trade, which is why it worked. The Panthers have no players in place and very little cap space to build around Watson. While this trade may provide the Panthers with an exciting QB, the seasons going forward will be much like Houston’s last season with Watson at the helm: some highlight reels but a poo record.
  9. Fantastic pressure by the Canes over the past several minutes. Finally paid off.
  10. The Panthers and their fans need to get over finding a proven commodity QB for the time being. The Bridgewater/Darnold debacles have set this franchise back. Any attempt to overcorrect at this point is going to set the franchise back farther by way of cap room and draft capital. The organization has to play the long game at this point (hello, Jay-Z. LOL), and the fans need to understand that. Does it suck? Yes, but it may be the only way to save years and years of turmoil for the team.
  11. Boo! Watson is a great talent, but I am not for spending the capital it would take to get him to Charlotte.
  12. You’re right. Toronto is playing against one of the best teams in the league tonight.
  13. Guardians. I am a Cleveland fan (wife is from Akron, although I've been a fan since the early 1990s). The team is now named after freaking statues on a bridge. Plus, the new Flying G logo absolutely sucks. I even hate the new font for the team as well.
  14. Agree. Rhule is only on year two though. His two year record is better than that of a guy who will be coaching in the Super Bowl on 13 Feb, yet everyone here wants to act like Rhule has no chance at turning the ship around.
  15. Um, Zac Taylor was 6-25-1 in his first two seasons with the Bengals. This after several a seasons of 6 and 7 wins each.
  16. People love to talk trash about Saban, but I think he is truly in coaching to help people achieve the highest level of success they can achieve. Look at some of the players who have come out of Bama but went on to fail miserably in the NFL (Rolando McLain, Trent Richardson, Rueben Foster, etc). While at Bama, Saban helped those men achieve success, but it was something they could not sustain once they left Bama. I think that says something for the program Saban runs. Then look at all the retread coaches he brings in. Kiffin, Butch Davis, Bill O’Brien, and many more. Yes, he brings them in because he thinks they can help his program. But he also brings them in with the knowledge that if he does help them turn it around, they will be moving on. I think what you saw there at the en md was true happiness for someone Saban thinks extremely highly of and someone who Saban is happy to see win a championship, because Saban knows how hard Kirby worked to get to where he is.
  17. I hope so. No excuses from me though. Georgia just brought it the whole 60 minutes tonight. Bama brought it for about 51 minutes.
  18. Haha. I joked with my Georgia buddy that I would use one of my 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, or 2020 National Champion t-shirts to dry my tears. In all seriousness though, I enjoy the wins and try not to let the losses affect me at all. It is just a game after all.
  19. Congrats to Georgia. It was a really fun game to watch.
  20. No matter who wins, this has been an absolutely fantastic game.
  21. The two plays before the field goal block is where Bama misses Metchie and Williams. Either of those two likely make either of those catches.
  22. Huge FG block for Georgia there. Good drive to end with no points.
