It's not a touchy subject really. I am probably misremembering some details about it, but I think there was a poo storm brewing about McCown being the "secret" intended choice and he was coaching high school level. The Rooney rule has great intentions. The execution of it is a farce and pure mockery. Of course the Colts do essentially the same thing but there are different rules/expectations about interim coaches.

I thought the only reason he got hired was due to the rumbling backlash that was growing when word got out that McCown was going to be the new guy.

STEVE WILKS - FINAL POLL THREAD
UnluckyforSome replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
He was an average coach. Not a bad job at the interim spot, as it always requires to work with what you've got. We could definitely do worse. Wilks did very Panther things though, and I really really think we need new approaches, ideas, culture, and characteristics as a franchise. I'm not so sure Wilks is able to do those things. Maybe he gets the job and brings Rivera too since he might be available again. Charlotte can be home to pro sports do-over coaches then. -
Disappointing player of the year award?
UnluckyforSome replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
I do not understand the tendency for mind-numbing, game-changing, soul-crushing penalties/negative plays. Everyone makes mistakes. He makes disasters. -
If it were up to me, I would take McDaniels and not think twice about it. I think Harbaugh goes to Indy, if anywhere. They will use that high pick on a qb so that might be attractive as well.

Jackson's best asset is speed. That won't be the same level after the achilles injury. Unfortunately, it might be very possible that a cb is picked earlier than expected.

The most black cat thing the Panthers could do would be to demolish Tampa, and then drop next week's game to the Saints in embarrassing fashion. I don't care one bit about gambling, but if I were to place money on an outcome, it would be that scenario.

It looks like he's had that work done where the fat is removed from the cheeks to highlight the cheekbones. Maybe he's had ribs removed to be able to wear a corset too.

So the Titans giving up on Malik Willis already?
UnluckyforSome replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
But so many of the mocks had him going so high. Turns out it was almost mocking. It's still early for him, but he hasn't gotten off to any sort of promising start. -
Steve Smith and Tre Boston on Josh Norman resigning
UnluckyforSome replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would satisfied with a clips from a miced up session with him roaming the sidelines instead of seeing 89 tear his hammy off the bone Griffey Jr style trying to run routes nowadays. -
According to Peter King, the cap hit on cutting Wilson would be $107 million. I don't think there's enough spreading to make that a workable number. They are stuck with him for now.

Well past time for this guy to get the fug off of everyone's field.

When my grandparents immigrated to this country, they originally settled in the Harrisburg, PA area, moved to Cleveland, and then Charlotte for better weather, more opportunity etc. Those Rust Belt winters are something else compared to the relative comfort they enjoyed in their home country. So, before the Panthers even were a glimmer in JR's eye, we were a Steelers house, and as a young kid I remember having an official Harris 32 jersey. Good rb.

What top HC or OC would want to come here?
UnluckyforSome replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
There's only 32 of these jobs, and only a few are open at a time. Usually that fact, and the competitive drive to be the best is what comes into play. -
and how the Hornets broke the hearts of the city. Bad breakups have an impact.

I've already pointed it out and addressed it I believe. Beyond that, I'm not sure I can help you further without being an ass, and I prefer not to go that route.

He won't last until the 5th round. Too many qb-needy teams.
-
"somewhat" Size, no. But as far as skills, yes. I didn't say he was Cam. Don't make stuff up please.
-
Richardson will bust if he does not go to a team that has the capability and resources to develop him correctly. He is not NFL-ready, and sticking him out there immediately or close to it is going to have a negative effect. A somewhat Cam qb that would be a good 2nd round pick is DTR at UCLA.

First chance I've had to see Levis in something more than a clip package of highlights. If he's struggling with injuries as I've heard, then why is he out there playing? Can't just be used as a convenient excuse for poor play and questionable decisions. With that kind of in mind, I don't know how he would be a very high pick. Sure, there is lots of potential, but does he make his teammates better? Does he elevate the team? Those are the real checkmarks for a franchise player.

from Darin's mailbag re: the 2002 top 3 picks in the draft
UnluckyforSome replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not sure what you are trying to communicate here. Burrow was regarded as the best of that qb class and so far has proven that standing. My apologies if I am misunderstanding your message. -

Disagree, and that's fine. If the organization was sound, utilized it's resources, scouted thoroughly, went into the draft with a plan, and was generally well-run, then it was not an impossible task. To contrast, this is a good bit of why the Bengals were terrible for so long. So, to that extent, rookie wage scales have mitigated a good portion of the penalty of draft busts, and I think we agree on that at least.
