  1. I'm paraphrasing, but I think I just read a few of you guys implying you're near the end of your lives, and you want a Ring for the Panthers before you check out. I'd lay odds there's no regular contributor on the Huddle who's older (81) than I am, and I don't see it that way. You should enjoy the chase, accepting the effort from the team you love and root for, and not be so reluctant to give credit where it's due. All these "I'll say he's great when..." comments are so conditional in their praise as to be meaningless, to me. If your steak isn't perfectly succulent, or the beer that goes with it isn't chilled to perfection, enjoy it anyway. If your child isn't perfect, love it every day, anyway. None of us are gonna get out of this thing alive, and we can't take our toys with us - so try to enjoy the ride, while you're still on the horse. Don't expect perfection out of anything, and see the good in it. You'll live longer, and be happier.
  2. Isn't that like saying Robert E. Lee wasn't a good general?
  3. ??? Panthers (+5) at Cowboys MDS’s take: Matt Rhule has the Panthers’ defense playing very well, but I see Dak Prescott having a big game in a Cowboys win. MDS’s pick: Cowboys 31, Panthers 24. Florio’s take: The Cowboys continue to show that they’ll be a force this season, thanks to a healthy Dak and a defense that’s better than it was last year. Not that it could have been any worse. Florio’s pick: Cowboys 34, Panthers 27.
  4. Remember that "somebody just poisoned my dog" look on Payton's face? Now transfer that over to the Great Clock Manager. They really can't grasp what hit them.
  5. The way I see it, there are only 2 possibilities: 1) we score first, and we win; 2) they score first, and we win.
  6. Yeah, but don't forget he was "being honest." There should be no shame in being honest, and at the same time, dead wrong.
  7. I doubt opposing OCs haven't already seen all this. But, as you correctly conclude, hard to stop it. That's because the direction of our rush is so well disguised at the LOS. They can't for a certainty expect any D formation will result in any defined rush pattern. There are 2 wonderful parts to this: 1) Snow himself couldn't pull this off, until he had assembled the individual talents (fast, versatile, teachable, aggressive) to play all these interchangeable roles. Now he does, and unless other teams match the personnel attributes, they can't copy it. Maybe it can be scoffed at as "college," but nobody can figure it out -- or beat it. 2) Just as important, all our guys are young, and this can go on awhile. These results aren't being produced because we got some old veteran FA that we can only count on for a year. Snow has redefined football as a team sport. (and I'm willing to bet that C.J. Henderson will buy into this, and think he's gone to football heaven)
  8. @OldhamA, that was fantastic analysis. Thanks a bunch for sharing it. Looking forward to coming episodes.
  9. why in the world are we talking about tells for lying?? This kid must be ecstatic that he's gone from an 0-3 team to a contender. (which brings to mind how poor Dan Arnold must be feeling, with the reverse) I give him credit for being as composed as he was --I know if it were I in his shoes right now, I'd be yelling "Hallelujah!"
  10. Nice work, OP. Pardon the redundancy, but I've copied this here (from the "First Look..." thread), because I thin it's more to the point here: bigdavis HUDDLER 741 Posted 4 hours ago His introverted manner is of no concern to me. Not every CB is a loud. cocky blowhard. I took him as respectful to the reporters, not used to this interview routine, and a guy who'll let his play do the talking for him. The good to take from the interview is that he seems happy to be here (a "player oriented team, with older guys to learn from"), and while we all agree he was miserable playing for Jax, he avoided the opportunity to trash that organization. Looked modest and classy to me. Eager to see him do his thing. It should be a far more valuable add to the team than what Arnold could contribute.
  11. There's a difference between comparing individual 2-man teams of rushers, and comparing unit pressure. In the latter case, this is developing into an historic defense. Not just Panther history, either. The reason is that we've assembled a group of fast, versatile players, who can rush the passer or drop in coverage, without the OL having a clue who to block. Pressure from all directions.

  13. Probably one play after we win the toss and decline.
  14. Some interesting betting trends on the Cowboys, per Walter Football: The Trends. Edge: Panthers. The underdog is 104-68 ATS in Cowboys games since 2010. Cowboys are 20-13 ATS after playing the Eagles since 2000. Cowboys are 22-36 ATS as home favorites in Cowboys Stadium (excluding Thanksgiving). Cowboys are 19-32 ATS when favored after a win since 2010.
  15. First play I'd like to see Brown in for? Goal to go from the 1. "Come get you some!"
  16. No Tre Boston (or going back, Capt. Munnerlyn) to hog the mike.
  17. If anyone on here posted under the name Fug Hidinbiden, would you get triggered? If you think so, gtf outtahere.
  18. I saved you a seat on the bandwagon, LG --reserved for the season, whenever you want to board.
  19. The extra rest and preparation time is a big advantage to us, as you said. And there's maybe another thing -- they just played a (to them) big game against a division opponent, and dominated. It's possible that there's a letdown in facing (what they undoubtedly believe to be) an underdog upstart team like the Panthers. So hunger on our part may play a role in beating overconfidence.
  20. Well said. Let's all consider the oft-used phrase, "Buy into the program." Good coaches, and organizations, I think we'd all agree, would have a better chance of getting a player to do just that, than would a loser team and coach. Right now, it's obvious to me the Panthers, and their coaches, their fecord, and their growing respect from the league's players, all point to a program a disgruntled player can "buy into." And lastly, from all I've heard and read, Henderson would best be described as disgruntled, and not mentally ill.
  21. I hear ya. But by that logic, Purple People Eaters should have just been Purple Peeps.
