I have him barely edging out Lance for the #2 guy based solely on who is ready to play today. Long-term, Lance will be the second best QB in this class.
-
Crazy how he kept getting hurt in practice, right?
-
Wrong coach, that was John Fox. At least Rivera had a revolving cache of cliche's. Foxy was a one trick pony.
-
Yep, Russell wouldn't have lasted that long in his draft class if he were 6'3". Some people put up mental blockers: QBs have to be tall, QBs can't come from FCS schools and so forth.
-
Trevor and Wilson goes #1 and #2, then what? Would all this hand wringing still be going on if Lance and Fields were the two left on the board at #3? Many have shown some skepticism about one or the other, sometimes both. Now, if Wilson gets past #2 and he was your guy, by all means refill your beer mug with tears.

I did, then I watched the 'Bama game. Looked like two completely different players. His inconsistency is very unnerving.

I'm used to the criticism/skepticism. I was scoffed at last year when I wanted to take some small FCS school safety out of Southern Illinois in the 2nd round. Boy was I wrong! Lance is the real deal. There is a lot to like about him. Just YouTube his 2019 highlights. I've embedded it enough around here already.

Agree with a lot of what you are saying here. The 'chicken little's' here thinking: Trevor#1-Jags, Wilson#2-Jets, Lance#3-Lions (via trade) and Fields#4-Falcons is simply nonsense. Like we are just going to flapp'n in the wind at #8 with our pants around our ankles. I can promise people, it will not go down like that.

Wow, comp picks weren't announced by the League until March 10th last year.
-
I can't wait until the comp picks are finalized so I can get the two extra picks in the simulations. Now I'm trading back (for the simulator's that allow it for free) to get the two extra picks. I even try to get them around where they will actually land.

Link to the rosters: Senior Bowl
-
Nice G.O.A.T rebuttal there Mr. Scot.
-
The guys I put in bold are of particular interest to me. We need to come away with at least two offensive linemen and a linebacker, inside namely. Someone posted earlier Trask is skipping out on the Senior Bowl due to some sort of injury. I haven't followed up on it, but assume it's legit.
-
Yes he does, coupled with nimble scrambling skills. Dude is an uncut diamond. He's going to need some work, but the end result should be astonishing. I liken him to a poor man's Mahomes and if I'm right, would certainly take a notch below Patrick's output.

Sorry, pure pocket passers are going the way of landline telephones. Sure, they are still around, but who goes out and purchases one now?
-
Yeah, I saw one mock with us taking Jones with Lance still on the board and I literally, yes literally, lol'ed.
-
Here's a mock for today: QB- LT- C- DT (3-tech)- LB (Mike)- CB- Hit on need and value. I'd call that a successful draft.
-
Ooops, there goes his stock. After sh!ting the bed in Florida's Bowl game, he needed this to get some redemption. He is sorely mistaken that his Pro day aka 'dog and pony show' will somehow make up for that game and missing out on the Senior Bowl. If there was any doubt at all about who QB5 is, Mac Jones just sealed it without taking a single snap or producing a bead of sweat.

Trading Up to 3 or 5 - A Look Into the Potential Cost**
45catfan replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
Really good 2nd round prospects at OT. I'd prefer to get the QB in the 1st and come back in the 2nd round and get the OT. Eichenberg and Randunz should be there, possibly Cosmi (not likely) falls to us at #39. That depends on how some teams view Slater and Leatherwood. Some BBs have them moving inside to guard. But, if they are taken as OTs, then Cosmi could slip. Walker Little will be there as well, but has a looooooong history of injuries. Sad part is he has the potential. Plus we've already had one Little on this team at OT that can't stay healthy. -
You should have hit reset the moment you traded down and Wilson was still there at #12. Wilson will not make it out of the top 6, let alone another six picks later. If SF moves up, it's for a QB, BTW. The Jimmy Garoppolo experiment has run it's course.

Carolina Panthers 1st round draft mini breakdown
45catfan replied to Verge's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Eh, we were out of the TL sweepstakes after the second win. Jax will not move out that spot unless someone offers king' ransom. I don't see that much separation in the next three QBs. Yes, beating the 'no-names' might cost us some draft capital to get our guy, but not all that much. It's not even close to the compensation the Texans are reportedly demanding for Watson that people are seemly okay parting with. -
With All the Offseason QB Drama, Impossible to Mock QBs Currently
45catfan replied to 45catfan's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
I rank them as such: Wilson, Lance and Fields. That being said, not much separates them, IMO. Lance has the highest ceiling, but is obviously the rawest. Wilson is the most ready today, but I don't see him making huge strides once in the League. Fields? I know people say this about Lance, but I think Fields is the biggest 'boom or bust' prospect of the three. You just can't have the inconsistency he has from game-to-game and be a can't miss prospect. Lance has all the tools...ALL of them. He just needs to be coached on how to best utilize them. I'm willing to wait a half season or even a year for that to happen. -
Carolina Panthers 1st round draft mini breakdown
45catfan replied to Verge's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Yes, but don't rule out a FA for them. A new regime is under pressure to win ASAP. So do you take an unproven rookie QB or make a trade with a mid-tier guy? I get it, the Panthers struck out, but don't expect us to be the primary case study on FA QB futility. Remember, Stafford gave up on the Lions, not the other way around. Also, there is a remote possibility that Lions and a new team for Stafford can't come to terms. Does Stafford sit out? Highly unlikely. His request is just that, a request, unlike Wentz and Waton would seemingly have toxic relationships with their organizations.
