Bingo! I didn't like Fields or Jones. They will be average QBs. Jones will likely have a decent career if he stays at New England under Belichick...strictly as a game manager. That said, we don't have the staff nor structure to coddle a QB like Jones nor develop a guy like Fields. So you are hoping to draft one of these guys, prey they don't get David Carr'ed and in 2023 when Rhule is fired we can undo the the damage done in the guy's rookie year with a new staff? Brilliant!!!!

2020: Burrow, Tua and Herbert...all were considered can't miss prospects. Yes, 3 is rare, but at least 2 Qbs nearly every draft class. I have yet to see the praises sung of Corral and Pickett. Don't get it twisted, these are the only two that have a shot at #6. Reach isn't a strong enough word to describe Howell and Willis at #6. Desperate would be more accurate.

I know your boy Howell is in the mix and that's probably skewing your thoughts. What I meant by no alpha is there's not a clear-cut, low risk--almost can't miss--prospect. So by your assessment if the top QB went at say pick #12, you've nailed your next franchise QB because he's the first one off the board? News flash, the lower the top positional player goes, usually is an indication of how weak the overall positional class is.

That's pretty? In most drafts there's 1 or 2, a sometimes even 3 QB prospects that draft pundits describe as can't miss. Not one of these guys are in that category.

The problem is the is no alpha in this litter. Yes, we could take the top QB this draft, but what does that actually mean? It means we get a QB that in lat year's class would have been battling Jones for the 4th dude off the board. Before you sing Jones' praises, he went to the one team that everyone said he would have to go to to succeed, New England. I mean, could you imagine Jones' year if we took him at #8? Dude would already be David Carr'ed!

Zappe is the one chance I would take and he would likely be there in the 4th round. I've watch a little bit on him, but he strike's me as a poor man's Drew Brees coming out of college. Brees was a 2nd rounder if I remember correctly. Same as Zappe, lack of size and perceived limited athleticism are the biggest knocks. It certainly isn't based on production, because the production is there albeit at a smaller school.

Yup, but you also only find the last busted boxes on the shelf waiting to the last minute on Christmas Eve to buy. That's this QB draft in a nutshell, there's 2-3 that could-possibly-maybe turn into a franchise QB, but the packing is very questionable. We waited until the 11th hour and now are desperate. So do we still take a chance on these noticeably flawed products anyway? My answer is no.

I doubt anyone disagrees you need a good QB to win, but you just don't take stabs at it. Taking QBs out of desperation will get you Bridgewater, Darnold and a washed up Cam Newton. Drafting QBs is even a bigger crap shoot. For the record I liked both Allen and Lance coming out of college. Heck, I was the driver of the Trey Lance bandwagon last year on the Huddle.

Okay name 3 more in recent years that weren't #1 overall picks...because we aren't drafting there. It's easy to name the exception. Rhule can't and won't get that lucky.

Rhule can't afford to draft a rookie QB. If he does, dude literally planned his own funeral. No amount of lotion and reach-arounds can please Tepper with another losing season.

I agree he can be too physical at times and get over-extended, but remember, he's still learning after playing guard most of his career. I'd rather see this from a guy still learning than a dude that's been playing the position every since he's stepped on a football field. He's smart, athletic, has a dog mentality and apparently loves the game. He has to refine technique, that will come with time and reps.

This one is even better. He wants to embarrass these dude's entire family how hard he punks some of them! Icky is usually good for a post-whistle shove or two just to drive the point home he made you his b!tch on the last play, lol!

Watch how many times Icky's man ends up on the ground! The Clemson play where he rides the dude form the left side of the formation ALL the way over to the right hash before planting him in the dirt is a thing of beauty!

I just watched the 'Bama vs. Ole Miss game...Bama offense. I focused in on Neal, obviously. One thing that stood out is dude has no 'nasty'. He fires off the ball in the run game, but really doesn't look to punish someone. He simply engages his block and waits for the whistle. If he fires off the ball and there's nobody to block, he's kinda adrift for the play. He does have great lateral movement for a dude his size in pass pro. That said, he's not twitchy and may have problems with stunts and edge rushers with an arsenal of pass rush moves. Ole Miss almost exclusively sent the pass rush outside and Neal just rode them around Young. This is why I'm in camp Ekwonu. Dude has the experience Cross is lacking and is more 'sudden' than Neal that also has a nasty demeanor.

Week 5. After a 2-0 start we go 0-3 with each loss a bigger blowout.

If I remember correctly, he was a QB at West Charlotte back in the day. So yeah, he's definitely a local guy. Edit: After looking up his Wiki we were in high school at the same time. I thought his name rang a bell outside of hearing hit around the League. West Charlotte was really good back in those days.

That is what I have been waiting on...another good season in which I would sale. Most of the people I knew who sold their PSLs did so after solid seasons. I don't even bother to post them anymore as I'm sure most PSL holders are in the same boat. Why continue to list them at extremely reasonable rates and folks won't even sniff them? It's an exercise in futility.

You have the benefit from the season playing out. The draft is like the stock market; mostly projection. And yes, I still would love to have Trey Lance who I wanted us to draft BADLY, but two things happened: a) the Panthers wanted to go the FA route and b) the 49ers jumped ahead of us anyway so it was a moot point. Rookie QBs take a few years to develop. Last year's QB class might actually still pan out. Few rookie QBs play lights out their first year. That's the reason I doubt we draft one this year; Rhule doesn't have the luxury for a greenhorn QB to learn on the job. Another losing season and he's outta here...7-year contract be damned.

I've mentioned this earlier, we are in a REAAAALLLY bad spot to move back. We are sandwiched between the Giants and Jets, both of whom have two first round picks. If I were a team looking to move up, I'm on the phone with them and not Carolina.
