    To be called an NFL QB you have to be one of the best of the best. Even if you were never more than a career backup. Cam was an NFL MVP, you don't get awarded that honor without a lot of knowledge, effort and ability.

    As a Panthers fan, I'm not so concerned about fixing Sam, as I am the QB position. Had we brought in a legitimate challenger and that individual won the starting job, we'd have upgraded both the starting and backup positions. As it stands, we are going into the season with a big ? for both. I realize I'm preaching to the choir here.

    I'm not so sure, but time will likely make the issue moot as his former players filter out of the league.

    Yeah, seeing how little Darnold and Menshew cost to pickup by their respective teams, there is a good argument to be made for creating a more competitive situation in Carolina. Though isn't that what Denver has been attempting to do for years now?

    Gotta believe the chances of PJ getting picked up off waivers would have been less than Will's. If Rhule hoped to keep both backup QBs, his bias for his former college players may have betrayed him this time.

    Seeing good things out of the backups at this point, but let's hope we don't need to rely on either of them anytime in the near future.

    I'm old enough to remember a guy that couldn't beat out Gano and he turned out to be pretty good.

    Hopefully Sam works out, but Mitch is on a one year contract in Buffalo, just in case we have to start our search again.

    Yeah, Sam will need to make his best case this season for being signed to a long term contract. Otherwise, we'll be in the same situation we were with Cam two years ago, reluctant to commit big dollars to someone we weren't sure was the answer at QB.
