Mike Kaye’s take: 2026 NFL free agency predictions
theinstrumental replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Idk, Moehrig plays close to the line and blitzes well pretty often. He had 14 TFL’s and 3 sacks. China is on his third team in three years, and I don’t know if he lit up the world for the Raiders. Don’t know if we can say he’s going to hold back every interesting player.- 91 replies

Mike Kaye’s take: 2026 NFL free agency predictions
theinstrumental replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He has every physical attribute you could want but he just has not proven any instincts for being a good defender. I love him as a special teamer and he can bring some depth to a few spots on defense, but I hope they don’t rely on him as any kind of key reserve.- 91 replies

Our rookie seems to be calling out our defensive scheme
theinstrumental replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
They chipped Scourton most of the game and absolutely nobody else had any effect on the quarterback. Not sure what he’s talking about when he says the talent is there. Can’t be talking about himself. -
I never want to see Yosh again. its annoying, but tackle is now as big a need as pass-rusher, linebacker, and tight end. The silver lining, I guess, is that we have some more opportunities to just take BPA in the draft. I really liked the ways they found value last year, and trust them to get it right again this year.

2026 free agent left tackles
theinstrumental replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
The FA class is really bad. If we do pick a lineman at 19, they’ll remain one of our best 5 for the foreseeable future: Icky might come back at less than 100% mobility and be better at guard, or worst case right tackle to replace Moton. It’s a huge blow, and it’ll affect our chances of building up the defense this draft. But the line was going to be a need in a year anyway. Just moved the timeline up. -
I'm out on wanting Kenyon Sadiq. He was wide open if he'd settled down there, but he doesn't have a feel for zone coverage. Workout warrior, might grow into something useful. He's not going to make an impact quickly, though.

The whole backup O-line are FA’s. Going to take some money to keep a starting center and one or two competent backups around.

Cowboys release Pro Bowl CB Diggs
theinstrumental replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dude’s a head case like his brother, I’m fine with not bringing him in. -
I think we’re starting to see the limitations in his game—he doesn’t have the wiggle of Rashee Rice or Deebo Samuel. That’s why he skipped the agility drills at the combine. So he’s a big, straight-line receiver who isn’t good at the downfield sideline things that are required from an X. He’d be interesting as a big slot with some more wiggle. He definitely deserves another year, but he shouldn’t stand in the way of adding other options. Maybe he can find another role. Worst case, he’s big and fast and is a decent depth receiver—Renfrow and David Moore weren’t giving us more than he does.

Yes, and he’s not physical enough to take on and shed offensive linemen. I think safety/nickel is his best spot, but don’t expect anything from him there. He was best as an overhang player at Clemson. Maybe he has some value as a reserve safety and priority special-teamer if the coaches feel better about him in his natural spot, but he’s probably just an end-of-year fill-in. Maybe he’s worth having in camp. There are certainly guys with less potential.

Go Falcons! (they win out & we're IN no matter what)
theinstrumental replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not possible. Falcons-Saints is at 1:00, and our game is at 4:30. We’ll know if we need the win or not before our game even starts. -
The FO panicked and threw a bunch of money at a need, which is their MO. We can get off of it after next year, though.

Yeah, I never said that he'll be just like new. I said I was surprised at how completely negative the sentiment is on this board and that there's still a good shot he can contribute again. As in a chance.

It's rare enough for a running back to tear the same ACL twice. There's not much of a sample size on the recoveries. And of course Dobbins has missed a lot of time--he was injured twice. That number will drop as his career continues, and even if it doesn't, that doesn't necessarily mean it has anything to do with the prior injuries. Dobbins just started and played well for a playoff team all year until he was injured by a hip-drop tackle. Surely his ACL recoveries didn't contribute to his completely random foot injury caused by an illegal tackle? Again, I'm confused why everyone is being so definitive that there's 'very little chance' of any meaningful contribution ever when the greatest counterpoint ever played for us. Thomas Davis tore the same knee over and over again and was basically fine. As for the roster-building stuff, we'll see what happens with Chuba and Dowdle at the end of the year, but Etienne's not going to factor into this. Either Brooks comes back, in which case we've already seen more from him than we have from Etienne, or he doesn't. But Etienne's not forcing him off the team. If anything, Etienne's current role is his absolute floor.

I'm surprised at how little hope everyone has. Nick Chubb's first knee injury was completely devastating, his second was disgusting, and he's back in the NFL. Lost some burst, but at his age, that's not a surprise. JK Dobbins' injury history is obscenely long; most notably, he blew a knee and an Achilles. He started most of the season. ACL's aren't the death sentence they used to be. Brooks is really young for an NFL player--he wasn't even born yet when Jake Delhomme took us to the Super Bowl. He'd be young for this upcoming draft class. There's a good shot he's back to contributing next year.

There is no point in thinking about Shedeur. He can't behave normally in the media, he can't support his teammates when they get a shot. Zero chance he's ready to lead an NFL locker room. Let someone else deal with him. This was a month ago: https://www.nfl.com/news/browns-rookie-shedeur-sanders-pantomimes-answers-to-cleveland-media-following-joe-flacco-s-benching

BPA but the pass rush is the worst thing about this team, so...fix it.

Beating bad teams is how you start, and this team's doing it. Starting to really believe in Canales.

Official Week 7: Panthers @ Jets Gameday Thread
theinstrumental replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The game-wreckers are finally getting enough support to win us some games. DB and Horn are going to have to find a way to split this game ball. -
Was this our best draft in years?
theinstrumental replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, though that's not saying much. This has been the worst stretch of drafts in franchise history, and we're not going to turn anything around without stringing together some good ones. -
Horn was on Pickens for one of his biggest gains of the day. I get the sentiment, but the defense shut down a really good rushing attack and didn't let anybody else go off. It was good enough for a win. Everyone's complained endlessly about Evero; it's as good a time to give him his props as it is to second-guess him more.

If the Panthers lay an egg at home vs Atlanta...
theinstrumental replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm weirdly hopeful for this game. Atlanta's defense is getting a lot of credit for beating up on a 22-year old on a short week, three days after the birth of his first child. That game looked a lot more like "McCarthy bad" than "Atlanta good". -
Complementary Football, or: How to Lose a Game
theinstrumental replied to theinstrumental's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hate to think this way in week 2, but this feels like a game we win in the past and screw up our draft pick. Maybe this is the year the bottom finally falls out and we can add another blue-chipper to Tet? -
There's a lot of Bryce and Evero hate today, as always, but I haven't seen the end of the first half mentioned. I want to highlight it because it's really where we lost the game, it's as infuriating as anything else that happened yesterday, and it hasn't gotten enough attention. - Just after the 2-minute warning, Arizona kicks a field goal to make it 3-13. The Cardinals have two timeouts left. On the kickoff: Not one, but two holding penalties. Ball's spotted at the 11. - First play: Inside zone from shotgun, for three yards. Chuba gets up ready to hand the ball immediately to a ref, but nobody else has any urgency. - Second play: Ball doesn't get snapped until 8 seconds left on the play clock. Bryce sprays a pass into the ground in front of Legette. We use 36 seconds of game time, but stop the clock for the opponent. - Third play: Shotgun snap. Bryce throws the ball low to Sanders. Sanders almost reels it in, but can't. Clock stops again. Panthers face 4th and 7. - Fourth down: Punt to Arizona. Dortch returns it 30 yards to the Panthers 45. - Following drive: Arizona uses the short field and both remaining timeouts to score a touchdown as time expires. This is the stuff that doesn't show up in the box score that loses a game, the classic hidden yards: Special teams miscues. Two holding penalties and a long punt return flip the field. Poor time management. Why run the first play if we're not going to run again? Why pass on second down if we're not going to hurry into it? Why not make the opponent use either of their timeouts? Poor QB play. These kinds of throws get lost in the Bryce post-mortems since they only count as two incompletions, but both were makeable throws. Sacks would have been better than incompletions. He just missed the throws. It's an awful mixture of physical failure and mental obliviousness. I generally think Canales is doing a decent job, but we blew a good chance to go into the half with a game in reach despite everything going wrong. Instead, we made it much, much worse. Considering how close the score was in the end, this two-minute stretch of complete ineptitude is going hang over the rest of the season as a giant missed opportunity.
