That being said we were fighting an uphill battle, it's really hard to get a good draft grade without a first round pick much less the first overall pick.

said this before but its a C+/B- for me the trade back with the rams was an A+ Player selection outside of XL, were all pretty "safe" choices. That's not necessarily a bad thing. This team needs players and contributors. If most of them end up having 'fine' NFL careers that will be an absolute win for us. But outside of XL and Wallace I don't see many home run swings, again that's ok. We also get dinged a little in my book for positional value. Felt like we could have gone double dip at WR, CB or Edge in the first four rounds to bump the grade up again. Again I'm not hating on the draft, I just think it was very middle of the road, which may be exactly what we needed.

I hope tepper is reading this thread: You are pathetic, quit ruining our team.

Panthers Select Ja'Tavion Sanders TE - Pick 101, Round 4

could have also taken Jaylan ford at LB! -

again, I agree but it is concerning he did not test like he plays, something is off, yall are acting like there is zero reason he fell this far lol -

that's not true at all for me -

again I pray I am wrong, some guys are football players and the game isn't played in underwear. No surprise Dan feels like that lmao -

I'll be on record saying I think Theo Johnson is the higher upside pick but I see the vision of taking him as a safer tight end choice after swinging for the fences with wallace -
Panthers Select Ja'Tavion Sanders TE - Pick 101, Round 4

that being said in the fourth round he is worth the gamble so I'm fine with the pick -
Panthers Select Ja'Tavion Sanders TE - Pick 101, Round 4

I pray I am wrong on him. He did have good college production but his RAS scares me for a guy who is billed as an athletic TE -
Panthers Select Trevin Wallace LB - Pick 72, Round 3
SOJA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
another fair argument -
Panthers Select Trevin Wallace LB - Pick 72, Round 3

I definitely can see this -
Panthers Select Trevin Wallace LB - Pick 72, Round 3
SOJA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
He reminds me of Miles Jack. He will play for a few years but he does not have a long career ahead of him. It's a shame because he's a damn good player -
Panthers Select Trevin Wallace LB - Pick 72, Round 3
SOJA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd argue that edge, CB, TE and NT are more immediate needs but I do understand the argument, we do not have any depth behind Shaq and Josey outlaw -
Panthers Select Trevin Wallace LB - Pick 72, Round 3
SOJA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
The one thing I will give them credit for is they are drafting what I'm assuming is BPA on their board. LB is not an immediate need. Last few years we've only drafted for immediate needs and look where that has landed us -
Give me Javon Baker, Van Pran, or Brandon Dorlus in round four Mo Kamara in round 5 Wiley in round 6
-
My preference order: 1- Newton 2- Cooper DeJean 3- JPJ 4- Ladd (yes double dip at WR) 5- Kneeland 6- Frazier
-
at best this is the extremely odd behavior at worst this is an invasion of someone's privacy and signifies he thinks he is above the guy right there, like the guy needs to take his hat off when talking to him. abuse of power dynamic. how people are defending this after he threw a drink on someone is beyond me. truly hate tepper

I think it's worth noting that we had by far the worst WR room in the league last year, and one of the worst offensive lines. FA talent was slim pickings this year. We didn't have our first round pick. There aren't a ton of avenues to improve. Trading for Dionte was an absolute miracle trade by Morgan. Getting XL at the end of round 1 is basically all you could ask for. I'd still be ok if they draft another WR as well. Ladd at 39 or Javon Baker later in the draft I'd be fine with

I mean Dionte Johnson is so much better than anything we had last year it's an instant improvement. hopefully year 2 mingo is better than year one mingo. XL at minimum will be our gadget and screen guy this year with a much higher potential to break out a big play rather than running screens to Chark and Thielen so yes it's better. Given the resources we had I'm not sure how much they could have improved it more tbh

Panthers Select Xavier Legette WR - Pick 32, Round 1
SOJA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
My tinfoil theory is that New England tried to jump in front of us to take XL. Beane, rather than trading to a division rival, called Carolina and was like hey yall want this pick because New England is offering us something. Carolina was like year sure. XL was 28 on Bill Belichicks board. That board started getting made last season, I'm sure the Patriots final board was similar -
Austin Corbett's move to center has seemed "inevitable"
SOJA replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
It sounds good on paper but I really think C needs to be a pick come draft day at some point -
yea lmao I was like wtf

Would you grab falling star t'vondre sweat?
SOJA replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
from a football standpoint, I actually think he is a great fit. We really need a true NT, I feel like our run game has sucked since Star left and partially because of the NT position From a character standpoint I would avoid this guy. Biggest few months of his life and he still can't stay out of trouble. I wouldn't be suprised if he is off teams draft boards. If he's there in the seventh sure go for it, otherwise let him be someone else's problem -
Albert Breer: Panthers could "hold auction" for #33 pick
SOJA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it really depends on the players available. If there is a team willing to give up a warchest to grab let's say Penix of course you consider it. But if a stud WR is there at 33 that would be hard to turn down I like to what Gantt posted this week about how historically the compensation for 33 is basically an extra fourth. IMO that isn't worth it if a guy is there you know won't be at 39
