What build? You are making assumption that Wilks is some genius who is gonna build a contender in one season. He won’t.

How does Scott know this? Because history says that Wilks will have little to no success once the tag is removed. These media people are making a lot of assumptions about how successful the Panthers will be under Wilks. I think at best we will be a .500 team that occasionally kicks into the playoffs. Wills has not talent of this team, especially at QB, to carry his butt.

Never disliked Wilks the man, just never liked Wilks the coach. Player coaches tend to not have much success unless somehow the talent around him drags him to it. He already said his isn’t really a strategist. Usually success is sporadic. A playoffs birth every few years, and maybe, just maybe a Super Bowl birth. Yeah I still blame Rivera for Super Bowl 50 and not adjusting or doing anything to help Cam.

Sounds like he has not plans for anymore interviews after tomorrows possible one. “Want to get away” sounds like he knows his chances of getting the job are low.

Commentators listing all the things Wilks is like that makes a good coach. Doesn't matter if he is from Charlotte. Doesn't matter if he went to App State. Doesn't if he is a local person. Doesn't make a good coach. Sick of people listing this on reasons he should be a head coach.

It is a feel good story and the media, and local media, are running with it. Most, if not all, do not look at the stats that interim HC the majority of the time do not work out when they become the full time HC. Jeff Fisher is the ONLY former interim HC to have any real success and that was in the 90s. Players and media and Wilks supporters are only following their emotions and not looking at the big picture. History has not been kind to former interim HC and Wilks will likely be another failure. I hope Tepper has learned from Rhule and not think he be the one to hire the second coming of 90s Jeff Fisher. But if we hire Wilks the team will likely be playing like a team from the 90s.

If they hire him they damn well better be contenders next year. Because that is the only way I will ever fully support Wilks. But they won’t be and Wilks will bring stable mediocrity and Rivera levels of ineptitude.
