  1. I think people were projecting when they scouted Wilson. They wanted to see Mahomes because he freelanced, but he doesn't have the arm, instincts or football knowledge of Mahomes. That guy is a once-in-a-lifetime talent and looked it in College. I think Wilson has the physical tools to be a success in the NFL, but they need to shackle him with a simple system until he finds his feet - if he ever does.
  2. I want to ruin him in his NFL debut. After that they can bench him.
  3. Their starting Oline is significantly better than ours. I don't see the problem with them wanting to take a look at a high-priority UDFA. Clearly a few NFL teams were interested in claiming him off waivers so obviously they think we made a mistake.
  4. The RPO is silly when you have a QB like Rodgers and his supporting cast. You WANT him to drop back and process the field. Instead he's simply being asked to decide between handing the ball off to his RB or hitting the in-breaking route depending on where the defence lines up. You have to have athletes on the outside that can consistently win match-ups for that to be successful.
  5. Mentally weak and can't tackle. No thanks.
  6. The difference being Haskins was terrible and likely won't make it out of camp with the Steelers. Darnold showed promise in NY. They've also not gone 'all-in' on Darnold. Pretty sure at this point it's just a 2nd round pick.
  7. DBU Kid is Charmin soft. You knew that when he took his ball and went home at the HS All-Star game because he wasn't in the starting line-up (and subsequently decommitted from the U and committed to UF after Rumph called him and told him to stop being a bitch). He'll be a bust in the NFL.
  8. Where is he playing with the second team? Are they trying him out at different spots, or have they settled on one?
  9. There's a certain Rose Bowl game you need to see.
  10. They've had contact with him since April, and a hands-on look at him since May. It's not just about being physically able to play the position - maybe his attitude was awful. Maybe he couldn't process the playbook. Maybe he wasn't coachable. Either way, considering they're able to carry 90 players at the moment, something must have been really off for him to be cut this early.
  11. https://twitter.com/damienwoody/status/1424143151661568005?s=20 (it's not embedding for some reason ) They literally don't know what they're watching - which is why their rankings are so terrible.
  12. Shockey was a more complete TE - but I'm old school, I like TEs that can block in-line. Shockey had a better career either way.
  13. Surely you're better than to fall for the pre-season media bumf, right?
  14. Honestly, Sam Darnold is a lump of clay. He played LB in High School until his Senior season - he was so physically talented that he was ranked a 4 star and earned a scholarship from a major College programme (the guy that recruited him, the DC, actually wanted him to play LB at USC!) He started 2 years in College. He then went to a dysfunctional franchise with one of the worst professional staffs ever assembled. He didn't even have a dedicated QB Coach. He's as raw a professional QB as you're likely to see. With all that he's still only 24 - and as I read earlier this week, if you put his best 20 plays in the NFL on a 'sizzle' tape they stack up with anyone. He now has a well respected QB coach to fix his mechanical flaws (footwork!), a good supporting cast of skill position players and a hot commodity OC calling plays for him. We should be excited as fans rather than wringing our hands that we didn't get the 21 year old we fell in love with pre-Draft. TL;DR it's a calculated gamble. It's not like we've got a Super Bowl contending roster sat here waiting for a QB - we're just two years removed from the awful roster Hurney / Rivera assembled. Best case scenario - he turns into another Josh Allen redemption story. Worst case scenario - we go again next year.
  15. Rhule wants to play an aggressive man defence. You can't do that without CBs who can take away their man in single coverage. Horn provides us the ability to do that - in a pass happy league, CBs have become extraordinarily valuable. This isn't your Ron Rivera / John Fox era where you could hide CBs in zone behind a great Dline. You need both with how slanted the rules are in 2021.
  16. Yep, Bayless is your usual TC hero at the moment. If we carry 6 WRs on the roster that 6th guy has to be a STs ace.
  17. The correct answer is as long as possible. You're not evaluating Grier and Walker - you know exactly what they bring to the table. Darnold and the #1s should be in as long as possible - that Oline needs extended snaps to gel.
  18. Controversial opinion: Shockey is the best TE we've ever had in Charlotte.
  19. We carried 3 QBs last year. We don't undervalue the QB position (backup or starter), but we just can't find any quality.
  20. Didn't they try that with Joe Adams?
